Mother of god! What? What? What the hell did I just listen to? I have just listened to this song 4 times back to back and cannot get over this guys voice. How in gods name is it possible that I have never heard of him and that voice? Seriously that was insane! What is it with Australia… how can a small country on the other side of the world produce so many talented musicians, singers, actors, athletes…. Is there something in the water? Seriously this the most beautiful thing I have ever heard…. He must make you Aussie’s so damn proud. I just can’t believe that I am only discovering him now but I thank god that I have thanks to this channel…. God bless you Jimmy Barnes

Jimmy made an amazing documentary a couple of years ago which is all about his childhood, moving with his family from Scotland to Australia. His father was an extremely violent alcoholic and his childhood sounded like pure hell. You can see why he became such a madman in later years. He was famous for drinking a whole bottle of neat vodka on stage during a show. Thankfully he met Jane and she straightened him out. When I hear this song I just know Jimmy is singing it for her.

That grit comes from experience and time and is totally missing from today’s music. Us old timers have all these decades of music to choose from and I find us always going to it and really appreciating every chord, riff, sound. Tedeschi/Trucks is the best keeping it true now. We need music like this today....emotional, physical, and ,oh, the lyrics with those gut wrenching growls and moans. To me, this is the music! The color, the religion, the beliefs....just fade away when you hear this..we are so much more alike than different. Let’s keep it going, bro, keep it alive and moving. Thank you for what you are doing.

His wife, his daughters, his sons, his brother-in-law, his son-in-law, etc……all very talented. I then, of course, learned of his band Cold Chisel through those postings. Even his old interviews are good and interesting. He’s been through a lot and glad he made it to the other side of his troubles. I went down a huge Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes rabbit hole. Many rabbit holes to get lost in here of Jimmy’s family members and friends.

Australian home grown music is a deep rabbit hole mate, Cold Chisel started out as what we call pub bands. Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl, Rose Tattoo even AC/DC were pub bands. The majority of Aussie musicians stay within Australia and are very successful and and don’t bother with the madness of the US music industry hence you do not get access to their music. Stevie Wright, Ian Moss for blusey rock and Judith Durham and Tina Arena for solos.

Jimmy Barnes has an audio book called working class boy. It is an autobiography about his childhood. It is mind blowing and well worth a listen too and helps explain where all that sound comes from It is extremely powerfull. Painful to listen too and he reads it himself as well. He also has a son David Campbell who is an awesome singer and a daughter mahalia Barnes who is amazing as well.

This is outstanding isn't it. Jimmy Barnes was the first live show I went to. I was 15 and saw him at the River Stage at Expo 88 in Brisbane Australia. Awesome show. Loved Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes for most of my life. He is still doing it too. Most soul and Blues stuff now.

Great reaction mate. You need to check out Jimmy in Cold Chisel concert LastStand! Check out "Cold Chisel - Wild Thing (Last Stand)". Great version of a great song and an indication of why his voice is like it is. It's the break up tour of his band and he has drunk a bottle of Vodka (nightly) and sings so well! Awesome song, awesome concert and awesome band. Aussie legend!

Jimmy has been around since 1973, originally as the lead singer for Cold Chisel, an Aussie Pub rock band. Jon Bonamassa is an American blues rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. He started his career at age 12, when he opened for B.B. King. Cold Chisel were an integral part of Australian music through the 70's, 80's and 90's and even into the 2000's. Discovering them now is like someone discovering the Rolling Stones.

You popped up in my recommendeds reacting to John Farnham and now I’m watching back to back videos of you reacting to our boys John and Jimmy. I’m 50 and have been the biggest Jimmy fan my whole life, ore for his rock music than soul. Although his Soul Deep album was my favourite album.. And your videos remind me of why I love his music and his unique voice.. welcome to the fandom

Jimmy did an Album called Soul Deep, the other single apart from When Somethings Wrong with my Baby was I Gotcha. It also showcases his voice perfectly singing such greats as River Deep Mountain High (my favourite) Signed Sealed Delivered and Many Rivers to Cross. Enjoy the rabbit hole that is Aussie Rock.

Just new new new you would love that song. Great reaction loved it. Jimmy is 65 years old and if you think he has a strong voice now just wait until you hear him in his 30,s 40,s. He also did a cover of River Deep Mountain High on his Soul Deap album which is right up you're ally. Enjoy the rabbit hole it goes deep and has many twists and turns and when you come out you will never be the same again.🙃

2:57 "you better play on those drums". You are impressed by Jimmy Barnes, the drummer is his son Jackie. And daughter Mahalia on backup vocals. Jimmy has SO MUCH TALENT that he can gift HUGE amounts of talent to his kids, and still shock everyone that has the honour of listening to him sing. The song was written by Don Walker, the keyboard player from Jimmy's band Cold Chisel.
