Thank you for coming back to this absolutely amazing band!! 🤘🐺🤘 Asami really is fantastic, especially for someone who wasnt into metal before she really has done a great job adapting not just the singing but shes also great with the crowds. Lovebites uses backing tracks in their songs, and its mostly because Miyako doesn't have 4 arms and cant be on piano and guitar at the same time. (or can she?), i guess you will have to find out!! Another ballad type song but a bit faster tempo is Empty Daydream from the same show - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oonLkKiDgp5noLc Check it out when you feel like listening to another ballad from them!!

An absolute masterpiece, epitomizes the 80s metal ballad, love it and your reaction. Great point of English not being Asami's primary language. Think many are shortsighted when it comes to her voice, not realizing how hard it is to learn a 2nd language, nevermind sing a melody in it. M&M are obviously elite level (not a better duo imho) but I CONCUR, Haruna is special and in a class all by herself. Grew up to 80s metal and agree...it's the sound/tone that does it for me. They are influenced by all the greats of the 70s / 80s metal genre...which to me, is a perfect and unparalleled recipe. You hear the influences but the music is definitely Lovebites and no one sounds like them. Keep it going! 🦊🐺

hi eric, and yeah: the tone, style, composition takes me right back to my youth. more so even than beast in black :-). To hear this stuff today, not "ironic" but as real and as true as these absolute professionals can make it, that's a real treasure. Gravitas is the right word indeed. Epilogue is the first metal song Asami has ever written. Miyako admitted that despite it’s few notes, it was the song that took the most takes to record her acoustic guitars for as the slightest mistake was noticeable

Your reactions to Lovebites have been first class. This was a proper reaction. I loved it. 63 years old and yes, this is my joint favourite Lovebites track and one of the first I heard. Yes, it’s what made them my favourite band ever in 30 seconds (seriously). I have concurred concurrently for Edge of the World and Empty Daydream (the remaining E songs) and A Frozen Serenade live 2021… a Bond movie song if ever there was one.

As a 45 year old school metal head I agree with everything you said this song is a true masterpiece and definitely Asami’s first song written both musically and lyrics and every time I see this performance it brings me to tears because of the raw emotion she sings in this song hence why it’s part of their “E” songs (Empty Daydream/ Epilogue/ Edge of the world) all songs start with the letter E and are emotionally driven…keep up the great work

Absolutely true. Lovebites would already be praised if they only played phenomenal Metal. But they also merge it phenomenally with other styles of music (Classic, Flamenco). I call those compositions "crossovers", and those pieces impress me even more. I am a lifelong Maiden fan, and those compositions remind me of "Empire of the clouds" (by Iron Maiden). Lovebites are simply a world phenomenon.

I hear a little Scorpions "Still Loving You", and also Eagles Hotel California in this one. Lovebites is influenced by all the classics, especially in their songwriting. But these lovely women were not even born back then! So interesting to see them playing this style of music. The music their parents grew-up with. But they also teach this stuff in the music schools across Japan. The hits of the 70's, 80's and 90's. We are so happy they are keeping this music alive for the next generation.

The Bluesy aspect makes sense with the kind of Flat run that Miyako did on the keyboard. Never thought about the drums and base. Guess I was too busy with the Vocals and Guitar's. Love this Band.. 🤘 ✌

Love this song so very much. It is a beautiful power ballad. It shows how beautiful Asami's voice is, it shows what Miyako does best and that is make that guitar sing with such emotion. This song is why Lovebites is my favorite band of all.

Absolutely true. I am a lifelong Maiden fan, and to me they are the masters of storytelling Metal. Now Lovebites entered my conscience, and to me they are the masters of Power Metal. I am extremely grateful for that co-existence in my everyday life's mental jukebox. 😁

So true, every metalhead I know over the age of 25 adores them with a passion unmatched since 1984. Not that younger metalheads don't, they do too, but there is a special feeling metalheads over 35-40 recognize, and it touches a place in our soul that hasn't been moved by something "new" in so long, it can cause tears of joy and passion to flow. I've hardly ever listened to this song without breaking out in tears. ALL Glory to LOVEBITES and all my Brothers and Sisters in The Wolf Pack everywhere.

Perfect conclusions and I add that the music that plays this amazing Band may not like but the talent of these girls is undeniable, Asami has a Soul/R&B past and you can find videos on KZbin, Midori is a fantastic guitarist, Haruna is the perpetual motion of the Band, Miho (sigh) founder of the Band with Metal in her blood and Miyako pianist, guitarist, plays bass, could sing because he has a beautiful voice, writes, composes and arranges almost all the pieces of the Lovebites, I Love These Girls and Finally they are back with “Fami” new bassist and I can't wait for them to present new songs! Great reaction as usual! I love your insight and explanation . I'am big Lovebites fan (I like Miyako's piano a lot). She is classical trained pianist from the age of 3, and guitar from 18. Her favourite's are Chopin, Dvorak. Listen to "Swan Song with Chopin intro" and admire Miyako's skills on piano. From France: I will never understand what happens when listening to this "excellent" group that is Lovebites... Yes, Miyako is a great guitarist and an even better concert piano player. But why doesn't anyone notice that Midori's solo is largely as well, if not better, played than Miyako's! Without counting this heartbreaking finale which reminds me of the greatest moments of the rock scene of the 70s to 90s (I am 70 years old, I was almost born with rock and I fell into it as a child.) I find it quite unfair, in look of this great guitarist (Midori) who not only shreds like no other, literally owns the stage, uses very few electronic sound effects (pure guitar without frills) and enthusiastically communicates his music with the crowd with a disconcerting naturalness... His job is an great job and it's a shame that the media favors one of the two more than the other (and alas, part of the public follows them)... Sometimes, this gives the media the impression that Miyako is the lead guitar and Midori the second... [Je ne comprendrai jamais ce qui se passe quant à l'écoute de cet "excellentissime" groupe qu'est Lovebites... Oui, Miyako est une très grande guitariste et une encore meilleure piano concertiste. Mais pourquoi personne ne relève que le solo de Midori est largement aussi bien, sinon mieux, joué que celui de Miyako ! Sans compter ce déchirant final qui me rappelle les plus grands moments de la scène rock des années 70 à 90 (J'ai 70 ans, je suis presque né avec le rock et je suis tombé dedans tout petit.) Je trouve assez injuste, en regard de cette grande guitariste (Midori) qui non seulement shredde comme personne, possède littéralement la scène, utilise très peu d'effets électroniques sonores (pure guitare sans fioritures) et communique avec enthousiasme sa musique avec la foule avec un naturel déconcertant... Son boulot est un excellent boulot et c'est dommage que les medias privéligient plus l'une des deux que l'autre (et hélas, une partie du public les suit)... Parfois, cela donne pour les medias, l'impression que Miyako est la lead guitar et Midori la seconde...]

The Gary Moore influence on Miyako's playing is not coincidental. She's a fan. There's a number of covers floating around out there. Another influence on the bluesy unison guitar playing is Allman Brothers with a classical Dvorak influence in there also.

Without a doubt my favourite reactor on youtube! Eric you are so relevant, knowledgeable, and sincere. I am a 65 years young music apprecianado, and like yourself have heard/seen countless bands since the 70s, and without any doubt this is the best band ive ever heard, just gutted i probably wont be around to see them live in the UK....my bad! Youre reactions are as impressive as Lovebites performances. These ladies have it all! Professianalism, expertise, capability, pure skill, and of course beauty. I love them for all the reasons you mentioned, but also their method of presentation in that with their genre of music, ie heavy metal they dont identify with the mainstream of this genre of music in that no black leather, growling inferior lyrics, dark depressing presentation, and to be honest inferior arrangements/musicianship. I have only 1 word for Lovebites....UNIQUE!! PS As i said im 65 years of age and can totally relate to youre description of old metalheads loving this band, best band ive heard in 65yrs! Just found your channel and subbed. I agree with what you said about why 40-60 year old metalheads being fans of Lovebites and all of the female Japanese bands. It's the music we grew up with. They play that music. This song reminds me of some classic power ballads and players. Scorpions 'Still Loving You' Thin Lizzy 'Still In Love With You' Whitesnake 'Ain't no Love In the Heart of the City' Gary Moore. The only backing track Lovebites will do is some keyboards. Everything else is live. Although Miyako has played Keyboard and guitar at the same time. Asami writes better lyrics than some many native English speakers. Epilogue is a song of philosophy while others can tell a story. You are spot on about Asami's vocals. The slight accent she can have is a charm point. It's her. She's real. Miho was also a great lyricist. New Bass player Fami write lyrics and music, too.

You are completely right about the draw of this band to us older guys. Born in the late 60s, grew up with metal and this song reminds me of the best of 80s Scorpions, Priest, Maiden and those big power ballads. Twin guitars that scream in your ears...takes me back to my teens 🙂

Thanks Eric The best reaction I've ever heard for this particular track, personally I think Asami is an absolute genius, the way she has manipulated these lyrics to actually fit her vocal performance is outstanding, Japanese is her first language and when I think if somebody came to me and asked me to compose and sing a song in Japanese! At 73, I grew up with Rock 'n Roll. Was never into metal though, but I am a Lovebites fan. I think a big part of that is that metal is what they play, not who they are.
