For someone who was not used to playing metal. and was unfamiliar with the triplet gallop so essential for metal, Fami has fitted in perfectly and is killing it as well as seeming to be having a lot of fun. It must be difficult for a twenty year old to fit in with four 30+ year olds who have known each other and been playing together for nearly seven years but she seems to have managed it and the members have embraced her as one of their own. They obviously respect her confidence and abilities by putting her at the front and centre of the two videos since she joined the band. At Fami's age Midori was only just beginning to learn to play the guitar and Miyako was only a year or so younger and still at university and Fami, at twenty, is now a member of a once in a generation band and her place in in the history rock and roll is ensured. I hope to see Lovebites inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame before I die (I'm 78yo).

As someone who grew up with the early 80's industrial and metal you referenced, I loved your comparison there. And yes, the joy and energy comes through and really *shows*. It's one of the biggest things I have come to love about this group. Fami is an incredible addition and just made the band blossom even more. The position swap scenes play made me wonder if they could all actually do that live - like Anthrax doing I'm The Man live. Asami's vocals have grown and the break really shows that they have matured a lot. Coming from her background as an R&B singer, she's been learning the metal chops and putting in the work. Great review - thank you! The other new tracks all come out in the US at midnight tonight!

Eric, thanks for your reaction to this band. Your reactions always make sense and let me hear things I didn't realize when I first heard the video. Your reactions always have a lot of depth and you try to respond to each individual musician. There are so many reactors that just play empty miles like wow, I wasn't expecting that, but never an explanation why this band is so special. Your observations lead me more and more into the depth of the songs. And Lovebites set the bar extremely high. Thank you, you are making a perfect job. Waiting for your next reactions. Missing the reaction to the last both songs Dissonance and The Spirit lives on. Your opinion matters

They really are quite amazing. Its easy too see why the Western Ears are quite accepting too them. Their sound and writing reminds one of everything good from Metal that one could envision but spun into their own High Octane Tempo and Technical Prowess. Man if this was a Thing in the 80's Metal would had Ruled the World. Hooks,Looks,Uplifting,Speed and Loud!

Great reaction/analysis. It's so hard for me to discern exactly what genre/style they play, because every song is a unique blend. I know they are based in Power & Speed metal, but it's always more, even when heavy on Power Metal (which this song isn't heavy on it IMO. Haruna is such an underrated drummer. She has an incredible kit, and she uses all of it, especially with her pristine cymbal/china work. Fami's bass line has allowed Lovebites to move forward in the same/different direction. They look like they had fun with this, and it was a joy listening to the entire album and the premiere of this music video with all of them there with me.

@Eyeosphere00 At the moment mine would be 'The Spirit Lives On' from the four that were available for repeat listening. Asami is awesome and the lyrics are really what I need right now. But when I've heard the other tracks more than just once at the live broadcast that might change.

You think they are happy to be back together. Love Haruna doing Herman Li on the guitar and Miyako on the drums and Midori on the lead vocal. Fun and really enjoying what they are doing together. Fami seems to be a perfect fit here. The M & M show is up a notch and seem to be blending with Fami just perfectly. Nice to see them out of the white dress code also. Great review as always and informative as always. Blending is something this band does better than almost any other. Can't wait for this album done LIVE at Wacken or River Plate where the insanity will be off the charts.

They just keep getting better. Fami is a great addition to this band. They looked to be having a blast filming this. Love how they were joking around, trading instruments. It would surprise me if they could trade places easily. They are all multi talented. Miyako, kick ass guitarist, and pianist. Haruna Drums and Piano, Fami, only 20 and already one the best bassist I have ever heard. Also a great pianist and good guitarist and pianist, very good composer and vocalist in her own right. Imagine how good she will be after a few years with Lovebites, Holy Crap. Asami dynamite vocalist, and I understand she's a very good dancer to. Midori who knows what else she's great at. These ladies definitely enjoy being together. You cant fake smiles like that. PS - Band Maid released a new video today to.

Thank you for your reaction to LOVEBITES. Keep LOVEBITES in your future. 【From an interview with Asami(Vo) and Fami(Ba) for a magazine project in Japan】 When Covid19 subsided and the audience was able to speak up, Asami thought it would be nice to have a song that everyone could sing, both on stage and in the audience. Asami wanted to use the sound of "river" in the lyrics, but thought it would be strange to use "river" as the chorus. Asami found "deliver" and thought it would be cool if everyone shouted it out instead of just telling what the word means. For many Japanese, pronouncing and hearing the English "r" and "l" is difficult. From there, Asami arrived at "stand and deliver. "Stand and deliver" is a pirate term that apparently means "Leave all your money!" Asami thought that if he wrote the lyrics as they were, it would be a song about a "pirate king. Asami wanted to avoid that. Asami learned that "deliver" can also mean "to carry out" or "to be free" in addition to "to deliver. Asami uses "Stand and deliver" with the following interpretation and meaning. Stand up and be free! Rise up and be free! Arise and be free! Let's get up and be free! From there, Asami put the following thoughts into the lyrics. Nothing satisfies me. It's boring to be like this every day! Let's go more bouncy! Let's be bold and do something different! Let's break out of our shell! P.S. The mic stand setting that Miyako(G-Piano-Black hair) used was too high for Asami(Vo). Haruna(Dr) imitated the guitar work of Miyako & Midori's solo performance of "Signs of Deliverence" at the live concert. Haruna may have been watching from the drum position and thought it was cool. Asami & Haruna is cute.

I'm with you on the genre labels. I saw a debate on another video about whether or not BAND-MAID is metal or not, and all I could think was, "Who cares? Do you like them or do you not like them?" I don't like BAND-MAID, I *_love_* them, and I love LOVEBITES just as much. Your comment about KMFDM is well taken; I think I fell in with KMFDM on either Nihil or Xtort and Symbols is still my favorite album from them. I agree with the comments about the joy they exude, but for the most part, I get that from a lot of the Japanese bands. LOVEBITES, Nemophila, Wagakki Band, BAND-MAID, Babymetal, and others all have that joyful vibe riding their music as an undercurrent at worst and as a near-physical presence at best. As always, thanks for taking a look at LOVEBITES.

Interesting that you also felt some Faith No More in the mix.. I also got drawn to threads of Skid Row, Judas Priest and Motorhead.. They're an absolute delight, and the shifts that Haruna makes on drums are awesome. Now with three songs on general release into the wild and it's fair to say that Fami is an incredible fit into the band. Her bass has practically become a rhythm guitar on its own. Loving the output from these ladies.

Fun fact, there's actually a historic equivalent to your 18th century highwaymen in the old Japan, landless and outlawed Samurais who went for the same profession. In some parts, this song isn't that much far off of Adam Ant, with clear elements of Fun-Punk. Still my first impression was - Motörhead - 'Bomber', 'Ace of Spades' and the likes.
