Here in Ireland we unfortunately just legalised abortion in a referendum a few years ago. One of the driving influences on voters was the desire to be seen as a 'modern' and 'progressive' republic like the USA. @@martinrivera6770 first, Scripture never tells us to exalt Mary, it just calls her blessed. Both you and I are also blessed in more ways than we know. Second, if your going to exalt Mary, then you should exalt her Mother and Father, and grandparents, and so on. They played just as much a role as she did. Third, the Catholic Church absolutely gives Mary the praise due only to God. Read Pope Pius xii prayer to Mary, it is the definition of worship.

I share the same feeling/thoughts as yours. The pro abortion, pro death legion is furious now. I just posted this comment here and at Pint with Aquinas. I am at work. My company, which is one of the US leading 'health care' providers, has just issued an internal memo a few minutes ago, to say that basically 'we are going to work around this and provide access to abortion out of state to our employees and members who reside in the states that limit it.' In the closing statement: "Our responsibility is to improve the health of Americans and we will continue to be guided by that in all we do." How is killing little/unborn Americans improving their health? ... Oh, because they're not humans, let alone Americans... and so the carrion vultures keep on circling. P.S. while the insurance companies like my work place sound 'care' and 'providing', I know that this care is going to be reflected in the cost/premium because it takes $$$ to transport (round trip) the pregnant member to the next state that allows abortion, and to provide lodging at least one night - it has been 'coded' in some policies. And that increase of cost of service is marketed as "low or no cost" to the plan sponsors = companies who buy the insurance for their employees. So where do the insurance companies get their funds? They will increase the premiums and the premiums will be defrayed to the members, whether or not the members use the service, even if the plan sponsor doesn't want to make elective abortion part of the coverage. In some states, it is mandatory to provide elective abortion coverage, regardless of the plan sponsor's moral or religious view on abortion - Religious Exemption/Accommodation is overruled.

It’s more important to highlight the organizations in place to help women instead of suggesting there are none! In my state, which had laws in place not only to ban abortion but to allow abortion providers to be prosecuted on felony murder charges already in place, our elected representatives are stating they refuse to enforce the laws our state already has in place and are encouraging the rest of the system to refuse to enforce the laws as well. PP has already said they have no plans of stopping abortions despite the rulings. We have a long way to go, but I'm grateful we at least got here.

The reading for todays mass said "For thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. I of course am happy as what happened today, but it is just a start. There are women who have felt forced into abortions, not having been given support, and when they asked or wanted to ask for bread were given a stone in the form of rejection and judgement for even considering such a horrible act. The reality is, that we need as Catholics to step up, and leave the Judgement to the confessional, when a woman realizes that she has been lied to by the abortionist. We need to support the groups both religious and secular who support those women who can't afford to carry their baby to term, get services both pre-natal as well as at and after she safely delivers the baby or babies. It is something we already do, but we need to be more open and vocal, so women not given the honest information that abortion is not the only "choice" when they feel backed against the wall. For those who have already had abortions, letting them know that Project Rachel is a safe place for them to get support after they realize what they have done, and return to a life serving God.

Something HAD to change, the road we were travelling was littered with innocents. This is a correction, and no doubt the 'fight' continues, but I think imagination, mercy, kindness, understanding that people differ is the first port of call. I really hope that women can cross the border to eachother on this because we're so divided. We need to learn to listen better...

I was at work scrolling through videos when I saw this! If I wasn't at work, I probably would have gone out and done a walking rosary or similar as I was so excited and thankful I could barely sit still. Jesus defined family as those who partake in the will of God. I have abandoned my blood ties with some of my closest friends/family due to an unwillingness to take God seriously. It isn’t easy, but once you realize that your new family is much larger it becomes bearable…superior even.
