If you are, as you say, a "synth-simp", you'd probably enjoy Reputation. I think it should be mandatory viewing but that's just me. Highly recommend Intro/Ready For It, I Did Something Bad, and Don't Blame Me from the Reputation Tour!! Taylor uses a lot of color as descriptors in her lyrics. Red is always used as passion, love, intense but also can be bad like jealousy and anger. So she talks in the song about expecting a burning red relationship or even black and white because that's what she's had before but this relationship signifies gold like daylight. She has mentioned before that she believes that real love is golden like starlight that never fades. She sings about her previous bf of 6 years that just ended at the begining of this year. She has referenced the color gold in other songs as well but 1 example is Invisible String from her Folklore album. She says there is a golden single string leading me to you. Have you ever heard of the string of fate? The idea is that this string bonds 2 people and it's desiny that brought them together. In Chinese mythology it's a red string but I think she changes it to golden because her take on color meanings or that's at least my interpretation on it. Anyways, another great reaction you guys. I can't wait for you to get into more. TS is an amazing lyricists, I think one of the best of our generation.

I’ve never been a die hard swifty. I’ve always had MAD respect for her, and early on def followed the crowd on not liking Taylor (but I’ve always held that respect as an artist) just never cared for her as a person. Until the miss America documentary where you actually see the REAL Taylor. Everything she’s been through and still comes out on top. And for you guys, it’s so refreshing to see men react to her music. And actually taking what she says and the way she writes and appreciates it’s. My man refuses to even attempt to listen to at least one song so mad props to yall!!!

I love this one as an album closer. I know what you mean about wanting it to build more. She does that a lot. It leaves you wanting more which is why I have to listen to Daylight twice in a row. Another voice mail/note song is Cherry by Harry Styles. So good! He never disappoints.

To me, the “high point” is when she starts the bridge “and I can still see it all in my mind…” cause then it comes down and it doesn’t go back up again but I love this song. I don’t think it needed a big high note moment because that’s not the point of the song to me. It’s not dramatic moment of romance but a constant light of love that brightens her life. She sees love differently now and that’s what she’s singing about.

I think the point of the song staying mellow is that it's the counter message of young love being passionate & burning red, but as you grown up you realize real love is daylight & golden & there in the quiet moments. Plus wasnt it the last track of the album? It was a great send off keeping it soft.

Lover has some vibey synths, too-especially the eponymous “Lover” which has a great music video. I haven’t checked out your old videos yet, so maybe you’ve seen it already? Other vibey tracks to drive to late at night, just before dawn: “Maroon” and “Lavender Haze”. (In my opinion, of course.) I totally relate to this reaction because I, too, just zone out and vibe to this song. A few not sad songs you might like are "Lover" and "Invisible String" (a Long Pond session option). And for a non relationship song "You Need to Calm Down" would be a good one. Now another great song, but be aware it's sad, "Soon You'll Get Better" it's about her mother.

Yeah even about the same happy relationship of hers I think happier songs about this are "Sweet Nothing" and "Long Story Short" are at least a bit happier... this one's too much about her 20 year dark night lol. Long Story Short is almost the exact same story but so much more fun and upbeat and sweet. But I do think depending on who's recommending it, this one can be so... hopeful. And feel like one of the happiest. Also yes the ones you recommended would be perfect.
