Even 20 years ago people weren't as accepting as they are now. So a same sex couple trying to get a double bed in a hotel did still raise a few eyebrows. Have you not heard of the term 'coming out'? Which is shortened version of 'coming out of the closet', which she was trying to do in that event. Check our the skit 'straight mardi-gras'. Different show (Fast Foward), but has the same ladies in it. That might be more your cup of tea 😂!

I'd say that this probably wasn't one of the best skits from Big Girls Blouse, although it is a bit funny. I'd suggest watching either the 'Midweek Ladies' video. Or 'The Bland School of Morality and Beautness' video. Those two are pretty hilarious, I think.

@@DusankReactions No worries. ☺ I'm just happy to see someone from the UK watching our Aussie shows and also enjoys them. Just as much as I love watching so many British shows often.

I think you’d enjoy their Outing Jesus sketch. It’s a p’take on the press and gender stigma. Hilarious. 1:41

It was the 90s! Coming out was a thing and there was enormous stigma. This was a brave look at how it was for the LGBTQI+ community. Vale Magda👸🏽. 💪💟☮️🫶

That show is a often forgotten one, Magda is a legend of Aussie comedy, she plays Shazza in Kath and Kim. If you're looking to watch something different from Australia, and do a series review I recommend Mr Inbetween. It's a good look at aussie life and the episode are short.

Exactly HOW is Mr Inbetween a so-called "good look at Aussie life"? It's about a guy who works occasionally as a bouncer for a mate but is also a small time hit man on the side, is a single dad, has a brother with a prolonged terminal illness, a dead beat father, some crappy mates that only ever get him into trouble in so many ways, and struggles to try and maintain a relationship with an upper middle-class, everyday woman who has no idea that he literally kills people for money. Hardly something many average Aussies lives are like. Not knocking the show, though. I happen to like it and it has a pretty good cast. Never knew or heard of Scott Ryan before I saw this, but he is a pretty good actor.

And I also agree that Big Girls Blouse is one of those classic Aussie comedy skit shows that doesn't always get rated up there with the likes of Fast Forward and such. But it did have so many funny skits and so many hilarious regular characters such as Prue and Trude, The Liberal Ladies (a group of conservative women who had crushes on conservative Aussie politicians) and one of my favorites, Margaret Bland with her Bland School of Morality and Beautness. And if it wasn't for Big Girls Blouse, there would never have been Kath & Kim, the spin-off to BGB.
