• Elvis Presley - Love M...
Lyrics:
Treat me like a fool,
Treat me mean and cruel,
But love me.
Wring my faithful heart,
Tear it all apart,
But love me.
If you ever go,
Darling, I'll be oh so lonely
I'll be sad and blue,
Crying over you, dear only.
I would beg and steal
Just to feel your heart
Beatin' close to mine
Well, if you ever go,
Darling, I'll be oh so lonely
I'll be sad and blue,
Crying over you, dear only.
I would beg and steal
Just to feel your heart
Beatin' close to mine
Well, if you ever go,
Darling, I'll be oh so lonely
Beggin' on knees,
All I ask is please, please love me
Oh yeah

The guy singing harmony with him was pint sized Charlie Hodge. They became friends when they were both serving in the army. In his later stage shows Charlie is the guy playing acoustic guitar, singing harmonies, being the butt of Elvis jokes, hanging scarfs around Elvis' neck to hand out to fans, handing him his water in between songs, attaching his cape to his jumpsuit for the grand finales.

I'm 65, when I was a little girl growing up in a small town, my Dad took me over to the next town to watch an Elvis movie. I was about 5 y/o then. I fell asleep during the movie. My Dad said "Well, we're going to have to watch it again!" You could do that back then. My Dad has been dead for 12 years now and Elvis has always been a connection to my Dad for me. They were the same age. Thank you for taking your time and sharing with us. 🇺🇸

There will never be another Elvis. Impersonators may have a few of his moves, but they will never have his looks, charm, beautiful voice range, etc. I see in people who imitate him forced moves, it just dosen't come off as natural. They try but no one can capture the true personality.

I remember seeing this on tv when it first aired. I was 13 and a budding guitarist. Elvis had become somewhat displaced by the British Invasion and the West Coast sound so it was a comeback of sorts. It's an impressive performance. As to Elvis impersonators: In 1981 I was broke and fresh out of a local Rock band. I saw an ad in the paper looking for a front man for an Elvis Impersonator. I thought: "No way in hell I'm doing that" but hunger won over a few days later so I called the ad and arranged a meet at his house. He and his wife met me at their house and I sat in their living room and played a few songs for them. He hired me on the spot and he and his wife proceeded to tell me of their love for Elvis. All through the 70's they had gone to Vegas and watched his performances from the front row. As proof they showed me a suitcase full of scarves that Elvis had handed them from the stage over the years. I could see the seriousness of this in their eyes so I went out and hired 9 musicians. We had horns, keyboards - organ and piano - and all could sing. Most members could play multiple instruments which was very handy. Many of them I hired from the University of Illinois music program thanks to the help of an associate professor of music theory who is now an Emmy winning songwriter in Nashville. We were to play two sets and he would do two sets of Elvis. After we got the show together he came out to listen to us and voiced his approval. He booked a small gig to get our feet wet. The next gig we played had 900 people in a small dinner theater. I was astonished at the crowd reactions. It felt like they thought they were really at an Elvis show. His name was Tommy Ray Seaman and he not only looked like Elvis his voice could climb out of the basement all the way to the attic and never falter - never. Every night some lucky lady would get a scarf from him and the reaction was always like he had handed it to a giddy schoolgirl. Tommy Ray was such an incredible vocalist I never tired of hearing him sing. We regularly played to house and venues so packed there was ALWAYS standing room only. As a Rock and Metal guitarist I was flabbergasted. Though I've played to crowds like that since, I never had before that. After 2 years he called it quits and I moved on. I learned more about music in that 2 years than I ever did anywhere else and made some lifelong friends to boot. I was embarrassed when I first took the job, but after all the work we put in, the level of musicianship, the quality of material, The way the shows opened and closed and all the experiences; I am humbled to have been with such incredible musicians. R.I.P. Tommy Ray Seaman, 2022.

Great fun reaction as usual guys. As a fan of many decades I find it interesting many reactors say he had a deep manly voice and yet 'in my day' it was nothing different but I guess possibly shows the movement to popular men's higher voices in general. and all that goes with it.

Elvis impersonators have done the most damage to his image through the years than anything else. So there's a big difference between impersonators, who treat him like a punchline, and tribute artists who do their best to honor the actual man. There are some tribute artists who are extremely good too - but they will never be Elvis, and they know this. There was only one.

I agree that no-one can be Elvis, or even be as good as him. There are, however, some really good ETAs (Elvis Tribute Artists) who are huge Elvis fans themselves and enjoy paying tribute to him. A couple of the best ones at the moment are Cody Ray Slaughter and Dean Z.

When Elvis originally recorded this song, he hated it, thought it was a mockery. So he sang the shit out of it to show them how stupid the song was. Turned into a Huge hit because he completely changed the way it was to be recorded. That was his genius- interpreting songs.

C'mon guys Elvis impersonators! Some can some can't! NONE can't they're a joke. Strutting round Vegas with fake sideburns & trying to do the sneer & huh, huh, huh .. without genuine god given swag. It's like matching a Rolls Royce with a Reliant Robin 4 wheeler. Don't insult him. The guy was one of a kind .. fact. Don't forget ... we had Hendrix, Deep Purple, Metallica, Guns n Roses .. Slash on guitar! .. there's always some band better or to live up to,you're good guys but it ain't right to compare an all round, diverse, talented, kind, much loved guy, who's now died to some cheap impersonator trying to make a fast buck. I do love your reactions & you're a cool couple but react is not compare. Good luck with your band. Reminds me of Nightwish.
