Nate your reaction is right on point. This young girls singing does just rip into your soul, every time. The emotion she projects just gets you. I am a 67 year old man and Angelina singing just calms my soul and makes the day better each time I hear her. There are so many songs she has done that get you every time. A gift to all of us. Ivan Mendez on guitar is a fabulous musician also. They complement each other perfectly.

As I watched I thought what a lucky guy to accompany her. I was first a Beatles fan like you and also liked other bands, and did not feel like a cheater to like the others. But, she is now my only love vs these other singers. All hail the Princess! I had not heard this song before and it is superb. And as you said, she sings songs that I think the originals of are just ok or that I have not heard, yet she imbues them with meaning and heart. Imagine having Angelina walking around your neighborhood singing.

Interesting her look at the picture of grandpa next to hers before she starts to sing and at the very end. She looks so, so sad, depressed. She wants us to be happier, even if it means for her to leave. Her face, mirror of the soul, is the one that she had when she sang You Were Always On My Mind In her story, the singing lover is ready to leave his or her partner in order for him or her to be happier. In her personal circumstance, grandpa is the reason for her preoccupied heart. Is he very sick or already dead? Nate, what a humble and respectful man you are! When you say: I dont know what else to say, we take your statement as a figure of speech, when emotions are about to spring over. Speechless? Then, it would defeat the purpose of doing what you are doing online. Angelina would tell you this: Nate, talk to us about how you feel, about the images on the screen of your mind. You need to tear up? So, do cry, we all do it! I praise your attitude behind the microphone: it is not about you at all , but about Angelina, your inspiring angel. So why do you do this? You seem to be unaware of the low number of your subscribers, like if you did not care that much. Well, we do care, because we appreciate immensely your presence in our lives. For instance, for Happier, you have, as of now, 3,444 views, but you seem to be stuck at the outrageous number of 629. Insist more about the subscription element of the reaction videos. I really appreciate your heartfelt reaction. The addiction to her voice is a strange phenomenon, not easy to explain. Her voice seems timeless and borderless. And it carries the emotions and feelings from a lot of her musical predecessors. It is like an awakening of the old musical qualities, and she has been given the gift and responsibility to take care of the old legacy of jazz. blues and soul music. Yes, she is a very good singer, but it is not only the technicality - rather the total package of music and ability to convey the emotional side. Altogether - you may say she brings us the very art of music.

A few things… 1. This is one of her most underrated covers. It has the second-lowest number of views on her CoverChannel (200K, which is ridiculous). 2. When I played this video for someone earlier this year, I said that I didn't know for sure but I thought she had sung the song very similarly to the original, because I vaguely remembered hearing a version like hers before. Upon further research, I realized that I was remembering hearing this very video, shortly after it was uploaded. [LOL] It had been almost a year between the first time I heard it and the second time, when I added it to the list of AJ songs I wanted this person to hear. It's weird how I remembered hearing her version of the song, but I didn't remember that she was the one I had heard singing it. (Turns out, I hadn't heard the original, after all, until I did that "research". And, for the record, the original sounds _very_ different.) 3. About her needing to remain in control of her career: I've often thought (long before she signed with Republic) that regardless of what any contracts say, Angelina should never feel like she's working for anyone else (well, except for the rare occasions where she is literally a guest-vocalist on someone else's track): on the contrary, she should "know" that everyone around her is working _for her_ . If she works with a producer on a track or an album, that producer is working _for her_ . If she signs a record deal (again, I was thinking this before it actually happened), that record company is working _for her_ . That might be a somewhat "naive" way of looking at it, but, dammit, she _deserves_ that to be as close to reality as possible. She's _earned_ it. (Deep breath… OK, on to the next reaction.)

Even if you analyze what's so good about her voice, her musicality, her phrasing, storytelling etc, there is still a mystery: she draws many of us (not all!) into her artistry, and you lose your awareness of time and place somehow! And it's soothing, comforting and brings back the feeling of old memories! Although Angelina didn’t say so, I’m almost sure she was singing this song to her grandfather. You can feel the pain in her voice. It was released about 13 month after he passed away and might have been recorded few weeks earlier around the time of the first anniversary of his death. According to Angelina he was in pain the last few months of his life. At the beginning of this song, she glances behind her at his photo as if she is saying: This is for you grandpa, now that you’re in heaven, I want you to be happier. Again at the end of the song she glances back at his photo as if she heard him say: Bravo Angelina. The guitarist is Ivan Mendez who complements Angelina very well. He plays several instruments and is a very good singer too. He has a KZbin channel called IVAN LIVES. Thank you for your reaction video and keep up the the good work.

I just found you on KZbin. I'm an avid Angelina fan, and I thought I heard all the reactions to her by anybody that seemed to have any real appreciation for her ability to convey emotion, and at least a modicum of musical knowledge. I too hope that I can someday see her live, but in the meantime, I'll just listen to her 130+ performances on KZbin as they never grow old. I enjoy watching other reactors to her, as it feels like I am sharing my appreciation for her musical genius with others that I can't invite into my home, or visit until a vaccine appears in sufficient quantities to stop the pandemic.

There a lot of good singers out there, but Angelina sends out an emotional connection to the soul that cannot be learned or taught, it is quality so very very special with Angelina. This keeps us coming back to her over and over again , at 9 years old with "I put A spell On You' she hooked us all and that put her in the drivers seat for now on, not to mention Gloomy Sunday which changed the course of emotional singers and set her apart from every one else.

Great review thanks Nate. The guitarist is Ivan Mendez who Angelina plays with in L. A. I think he toured with Angelina on some performances in South America. The lyrics to the song were wrong though. I didn't want Angelina to go. The only problem with your technical setup was your voice was only coming through on the right channel , nothing on the left. The sound from song was fine. Looking forward to more Angelina.

I am a huge Angelina fan, I saw her in a reaction, I was trying to find the song 'Cry Me A River" on the internet about a year and a half ago. I didn't even know what a reaction was, I was hooked from the moment heard her. I never get tired of hearing her voice. Not long after that, I saw a video of Dimash. He is a very different experience than Angelina, a very different type of music, it is not a conflicting experience because they are so different. I enjoy both for those very different styles. I can say the same about Aurora, or Grace Vanderwaal or Courtney Hadwin you can enjoy the differences. I do listen to Angelina more but I can enjoy other singers and I do. I am 68 and have not enjoyed rock music in a very long time but recently I came across a rock band of 3 sisters from Mexico "The Warning" and I really like them as we, I think they take me back to my teens. Anyway, Have Fun!
