Hey guys! I have been watching and following you for a long time, and I want you to know that you are bringing so much joy into my life. it is a real pleasure to watch your reactions to new music. Your genuine love for music comes through in every one of your content (at least, the ones I watched...). I particularly enjoy watching you reacting to Mylene Farmer, since I am such a big fan. so, today I would like to introduce you to "Les Rita Mitsouko" band. Fred Chichin and Catherine Ringer were very big in clubs and discotheques in the 80s in France. According to the French Wikipedia the name of the group was chosen to reflect the band's extremely diverse musical reference: Rita refers to the South American music (and the iconic actress Rita Hayworth). Mitsouko is the French spelling of the Japanese first name Mitsuko, and is also the name of a perfume by Guerlain. The group originally went by the name "Rita Mitsouko" but in 1985 "Les" was added when they realized that many people believed the name of the group was that of the singer. I know you will enjoy the cheer madness of this clip and the decent guitar solo at the end. I love you.

From what I understand, in France and other French-language areas this song is the equivalent of something like "Love Shack" -- a party song that everyone knows and sings along/dances to. Much better song though -- the chorus is a killer earworm. In a good way! And man, 80s videos were the best.

Catherine Ringer (the singer) is also amazing live. Actually her and the guitarist (fred Chichin) were married (he passed away few years ago), and now she's doing live concert with their son playing the guitar. You should try "Marcia Baïla" from the same band

You know that they made a song with Sparks « singing in a shower »? Cool video too. Catherine is still performing alas Fred Chichin died years ago…he was an excellent musician. I think they were a bit known in New York in the early 90´s. It was nice to see you enjoying our Dear Rita Mitsuko 😊

The word is "discothèque" pronounced discotek) a French word but also an English word, although nobody uses it anymore apparently, and uses the shorter version "disco", or just "club". Disco music originally was called that because it was played in discotheques (discos).

Best duo ever! I saw Catherine in concert 4 years ago and her voice is still so so strong. Of course, we all got up and danced when the band started C'est comme ça! The video was done by the fabulous Jean-Baptiste Mondino. By the way, you won't see them in concert because Fred died from cancer in 2007. It was such a sad moment.

Hello there, nice to see you enjoy listening to a hit from Les Rita Mitsouko. No, French music is not only romantic ballads. I wish you in the USA had the opportunity to listen to foreign non-English-speaking music just as much as we in Europe enjoy enjoy listening to US artists. I bet you'd positively love (and you'd be astonished by) our musical production. Actually, in the 80's, I visited a Californian friend and I presented him with a tape of the Rita Mitsouko album featuring this hit "C'est comme ça" (meaning "that's the way it is". I wish you could understand the lyrics in French). My friend John was driving like mad as we were both howling the lyrics at the top of our voices! That was crazy and hilarious!
