Fred Chichin, miss him so much, he was a genious. Rita Mitsouko is one of those bands, in France, as soon as you play a song in a party everyone goes on the dancefloor, especially this one and Marcia Baila. The lyrics are also much deeper than they sems to be, very well written. Rita Mitsouko was unique, I saw them live a few times, and saw Catherine in solo tour too, she's awesome. The way they loved each other is in their music too, and now their childs are in music too and does great songs, their daughter is just a Catherine's clone, with the same skill with her voice. Catherine was criticized for the way she earned money before being famous (I'm sure you know what...) but she is so talented that even the ones who were very "angry" about it must admit she's above all a fantastic artist.

The guitar work is superb here, Fred killed it. The energy of the song is incredible, and of course Catherine is in command as always. They were million years away from other groups in France, so experimental. For an extra song of them to review, there would be Le petit train with a very interesting video and also another onr (no video) but killer song: Un soir un chien.

"Awkwardly addictive" is the perfect description. Spot on. Fred Chichin was recognized by many French rock guitarists as the best of them. When he died they organized a tribute to him at the next Victoires de la Musique (French music awards). 14 famous guitarists on the scene playing a medley of Rita Mitsouko instrumentals for 2 minutes and a half, no vocals.

You should look for Béruriers Noirs if you want french punk. And they're punk not only in music but also in spirit. At the Festival d'été de Québec, they requested to have all the sponsors banners on the stage hidden before performing as they don't want to be associated with any corporate stuff. The organization obliged and they gave their show afterward.

Oh, Les Rita Mitsouko - from Paris with love! Unparalleled to anything else on the 1980s pop scene. Quirky cutting-edge pop music accompanied by quirky cutting-edge music videos (most of them directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino). Catherine Ringer was/is truly a brilliant performer, dancer and singer, and Fred Chichin (RIP) was a great songwriter & producer. They released a lot of great music but three singles were very special to me: "Marcia Baila", "C'est Commes Ça" and "Le Petit Train". Legendary Bowie and Iggy Pop producer Tony Visconti produced two of their albums. Timeless pop music!

Hi, I am glad you like The Rita Mitsouko, this specific song is the song of my teenage years. For a French of any generation, it is a staple, since it is still played on radios. I agree with you, Catherine is made for art. She started younger as a pornographic actress in the 70's, met Frederic Chichin and got into this rock aventure. If you love her body language and the way she moves, please, look at the Video "Y a de la Haine". It is musically interesting, and this is the video in which they underline their complicity both in music and life, since they were a couple. Whenever you see her now, she has this melancholic look, and must miss Fred who passed away from a cancer years ago. Good job for your analysis, you are really fair and precise. Thank you.

Whooooohooooo you brought my student time back at university. This was the most addictive group in the 80’s-90’s. I see the link you mentioned about the b52 but the Rita M. were much more popular in France and Belgium. Look at Marcia Baila and Andy :) have fun

I hate the eighties, because I was a teenager ill at ease with lots of complex and acne 😂 but it's true that there was so much originality, liberty, different styles, good songs makers, strange artists, some of inventiveness and madness in FRENCH MUSIC... 😂 I loved les Négresses Vertes, Pigalle, Indochine, Étienne Daho... I hope and I think he knows SERGE GAINSBOURG...

Well done Dereck you have good tastes. In France, this group is called "les Rita", but you should know that the guitarist has been dead for a while now. in life he was married to Catherine the singer. This song is magic, in France you put it in a party, everyone moves from the chair. You should also know that she is over 30 years old, but like all good songs, it does not get old.

I love the way you reacts. There's many KZbin channels of reactions but yours is probably the best. If you like french artists you must try Guesh Patti "Étienne" and Mano Negra "King Kong five", "Out of time man", Chagrin d'amour "Chacun fait ce qu'il lui plaît"

Hello! Thanks for your video. My french recommandations for you: Camille/ Ta douleur (sweet and crazy), Noir Désir/ un homme pressé (but all Noir Désir's songs are great, it's quality dark rock), Véronique Sanson/ Drôle de vie (swing and piano), Voyou/ Seul sur ton tandem (recent artist, just different), Stupeflip/ Stupeflip vite! (so strange but so good)... Good bye and enjoy!!

Hi Dereck great reaction, it's so nice to see someone foreign loving this terrific band from France ! I would love to see you react to "La sorcière et l'inquisiteur", it's a less known song from the same band, it's beautiful and very particular, kind of theatrical, with a mystic theme, I'm sure you would be very intrigued by it...
