'The Space' live at the Royal Albert Hall or 'The Great Escape' live 2013 are fantastic recordings of them live.

Marillion have had two different eras , Kayleigh was sung by Fish and this is with Steve Hogarth. It’s the same band but two very very different sounds, I have followed them from the early 80’s and love both eras . 👍

Nice reaction guys. Marillion Weekends are pretty legendary and have expanded since this video. 2025 will see the band play Weekends in the Netherlands (PZ), Montreal, Paris, Girona, Padua, Leicester (UK), Oslo and Berlin. In the past they've also done Weekends in Lisbon, Lodz in Poland and Santiago in Chile. Such a great vibe with fans of the band from around the world gathering to share their love of the band and their music. The original singer (Fish) left in 1988 and Steve Hogarth has been the front man since 1989. So much music for you to explore. Try "The Space - live at the Royal Albert Hall" next. It's immense.

As has been said above, you need to check out "the space" at the Albert Hall.. spine tingling stuff. Steve Hogarth replaced the original singer "Fish" in the late 80s, and they have different styles lyrically and vocally. The Marillion weekends have been going for years, they have 8 this year, most of which are sold out. UK, France, Holland, Germany, Italy, Canada, Norway and Spain. They are the best band not in the mainstream, and were the first to instigate a crowdfund model, led largely by the keyboard player Mark Kelly.

This is definitely one of my favorite Marillion songs, from that lovely CP70 E Piano intro sound to the lovely crescendo chord progression, to the chorus melody...

Thanks for the great reaction folks! You've got over 40 years or Marillion to discover. "Afraid of Sunrise" is another song on this album, and they just released a live version of it that they recorded in Holland in 2023. They still sound amazing. Lets hear more Marillion!

The short version: "Afraid of sunlight" is about fame and the fear of being constantly in the spotlight. The whole album is a concept about fame. This one"Afraid of sunlight", "Out of this world" and "King" are the highlights of this album.

Marillion Weekends used to involve three completely different concerts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights at the same venue. The light and sound guys had more time to set up and do their thing, and the sound quality for attendees and in the CDs issued from the performances is wonderful, as were the light shows for attendees. This particular performance is special in that the singer, Steve Hogarth, either had a bad cold, or had strained his voice from doing the three shows, and he is struggling big time to finish the song. People come from all over the world to attend these weekends, spending a goodly fortune on plane fares and lodging, so the show had to go on. Hogarth sounds even better when not struggling with these physical problems with his voice, but the fervent fans find his voice cracking at the end to be endearing. It is said that lies cannot withstand the light of day. When your entire life has become a lie, both you and your partner become "Afraid of Sunlight", and perhaps wonder how you arrived at that sorry condition from a hope-filled start. In this instance, the guy can no longer tolerate his wife's alcoholism, so he packs up and leaves her in the early pre-dawn hours. "I will leave you alone, and I will deny. I will leave you to bleed. I will leave you with your life". The album which includes this fine song was loosely tied to a theme of how fame can destroy those upon whom it is bestowed. BTW, you two can go to the Marillion Weekend currently scheduled in Montreal on March 28-30, 2025. Alas, the guys are fast approaching geezerdom, and they announced they physically can no longer do three shows on three consecutive nights, so there will be only two shows this time around, and the rumor is they will not be returning to Montreal anytime soon in future years. You missed seeing The Beatles, Genesis, The Who, The Doors, The Cream and many other classic bands who's music you dearly love. You crave content. Go to Montreal and do some remote podcasts and see Marillion live while you still can. You'll love the city and the fans of this wondrous band.
