I'm not sure how this is measuring "Europe", but Dexy's Midnight Runners, Kajagoogoo, Feargal Sharkey, Chris DeBurgh, Paul Hardcastle, S-Express, Fairground Attraction and Living In A Box were not one-hit wonders in the UK. And at least a few other artists were not one-hit wonders in other countries - Nena, for example, had multiple hits in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands. BTW, opus means "work". The Latin phrase "magnum opus" (or "great work") is often used for the best work of art or piece of music by a performer, so that's quite an appropriate term for genuine one-hit wonders!

I'm not sure if the creator of this list knows what One-Hit-Wonder really means. There are many artists in this list that had more than one hit.

In the description of the video he said how he calculated this list: This compilation is based on the Europarade / Eurocharts that calculated 16 national singles charts, among them the biggest music markets in Europe: U.K., Germany and France.

@@BerndFunken the video is based on 16 charts and looking at wikipedia i do see these artists having more hits in the united kingdom but not in other countries I even saw "lady in red" never charted in France which is so weird.

Dead or Alive had numerous top 40 hits in the uk as well as two top 20 hits on the us billboard 100 so not really one hit wonders but as with many acts if they have one huge hit everything else is overshadowed.

Chris de Burgh is no one-hit wonder. Although his biggest success, “The Lady in Red” (1986), made him famous worldwide, he has released numerous successful songs and albums over the decades. Other well-known songs: “Don't Pay the Ferryman” (1982) - an early success that reached the charts in several countries; “High on Emotion” (1984) - a big hit in Europe, especially in Ireland and Germany. Chris de Burgh has sold over 50 million albums worldwide. He has a loyal fan base, particularly in Europe and South America.

Nena is no one-hit wonder. Although her biggest international success, “99 Luftballons”, made her famous worldwide, she has released a large number of other successful songs that have become big hits, especially in German-speaking countries. Her career spans several decades and she has made a name for herself both as a band frontwoman in the 1980s and later as a solo artist. In addition to “99 Luftballons”, she had numerous successes with the band such as: “Nur geträumt” (1982), “Irgendwie, irgendwo, irgendwann” (1984), “Leuchtturm” (1983). In the 2000s, Nena experienced a comeback with: “Liebe ist” (2005) - number 1 in the German charts, “Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime” (2003) - duet with Kim Wilde, a big hit in Europe. Nena has sold over 25 million records and is regarded as one of the most influential artists in German pop music.

@sav00012 күн бұрын
The creator of this video based the list on the Europarade/Eurocharts which combine 16 of the biggest national singles charts around Europe, so even they may have had more hits in their own country/a few other countries they are still counted as one hit wonders based on this calculation
