I know this song very well. Today was the first time I burst into tears listening to it. I came from an abusive home where both unparental figures were abusive to us children. At 58 years old, it still hurts real bad. Much love to y'all.

Yeah, I bought the Dark Horse CD and this came on. I thought, Rock'n'roll, till I heard the lyrics. So damned good. I know a lot of people say they don't like Nickleback, I don't get it. They are fantastic. Especially that Dark Horse album!

Yep. Burst into tears first time I heard this one back in the day. I lived where he was as a kid too, just not to the extreme ending. It was extreme but different. Praise God, He finally got a hold of my dad. And this isn't Hanover... It's his wifey. Just for the record. :)

This song is so powerful and though it address this serious issue from the more commonly assumed roles it still rings true if you switch the roles around. I was fortunate never to be in this kind of household, however, I had friend who had a version of this in their homes though in those cases the resolution was divorced and a restraining order.

It does not matter what kind it is. There is no room in this world for any kind of abuse because people that do that to their children or their spouse or their parents or the grandparents are nothing but cowards

Listen to Too Bad off the same album. I think it’s very clear there were some FAR from ideal childhoods amongst the band members.

Most men who will hit women won't fight a man. I learned this when my sister's ex wouldn't step to me and my brother after bust my sister lip. But he still got these hands and we never saw him again.

I would like to go on record saying I like Nickelback, and I don't really understand the hate. I can't recall a song I didn't like, and Side Of A Bullet solidified the love.
