I know you guys are big Jeff Buckley fans. Apparently Thom was having trouble recording this song and a he and a few of the guys went to see JB playing locally. Thom was so inspired by JB that he went directly to the studio from the show and recorded the vocals using falsetto then burst into tears.

In my early '50s now have loved this song for a few decades but as you get older you certainly appreciate the "gravity always wins" line a little more :-)

A beautiful representation of depression. As someone pushing 40 the phrase "it wears you out" hits so hard. A really good song to see live as well.

Thanks Thomas, Travis and Suzi. This song, High and Dry, and Street Spirit are probably my top 3 Radiohead songs. We all have different tastes, but that's my top 3.

I agree with your top 3, except I would probably switch out Street Spirit for Let Down. There are so many great Radiohead songs that it's hard to choose just 3.

@@thomasrichards1969 You see, I learnt that super complicated alternate picking from Street Spirit on guitar, so that one is kind of special to me. Made me think I could actually play! Who'd have thought music could have such personal values... :)

So based on that your favorite album has to be "The Bends" right?

@@_Dei_I totally agree with what you said about the guitar, I also learnt Street Spirit, it was one of the first I learnt on guitar and I was so happy and motivated about it :D

@@williamandres1042 It's one of those songs that makes you work in getting the picking right, but when you get it, it sounds so very, very good. For a moment, it makes you feel like you can actually play. :) Love it.

5:38 my interpretation is it's an analogy of depression and how it warps your view of the world, things that should be normal don't feel real, even your significant other can feel like a figment of your imagination when you're at your lowest, like a fake plastic person, and just thinking about it is incredibly exhausting, it wears you out. Trying to act like a real person when you have depression is the most exhausting experience in my life. You feel as fragile as polystyrene that crumbles, and you just want to break out of the fake world "blow through the ceiling".

6:47 only lasts a couple bars but that gut wrenching chord kills me. Incredibly wrong chord that hits like a sledgehammer.

"Fake Plastic Trees" is to me about fake love. A man and a woman have been in a relationship for some time now. She bought her "green plastic watering can" from "a rubber man in a town full of rubber plans." She is "watering" their fake plastic love, barely keeping the relationship together.

At first the video confused me. Now I think I get it. He’s the product someone selected at the supermarket and put in their cart. You have some people who go thru life treating those around them that way. And then u have others who recognize those people for who they are Basically narcissists and the people who are objectified by them Kinda deep

Exit Music (for a film). It's about a woman trying to escape an abusive relationship with her child/children. Very bleak.
@EdselMike19803 ай бұрын
Interesting interpretation but that is not how I understood the lyrics to Exit Music. Maybe because I knew it was in the updated Romeo and Juliet soundtrack it really fits that story. I interpret the lyrics as someone running away with his girlfriend who's father doesn't approve of the relationship. Nothing to do with abusive relationship or children.
