I have Suzi’s first album with “Can the Can” and “48 Crash” and they are both on my current playlist. I have seen Suzi Q live in Tasmania and she is still 🔥! As well as playing the bass at her concert she told us that she learned to play the drums and play classical piano and then proceeded to show the audience these other musical skills. She is quite memorable after seeing her live. Always one of my favourite female artists.

The drummer is playing traditional grip with his sticks which is how all drummers are taught in school band. It works naturally when playing a drum set right-handed. The other way is of course matched grip where you hold both sticks the same way and became more common.
@Toobeegort

A lot of army drummers use that grip, it's called traditional and it's very old, starting in the 1400s I think.

Thank you for featuring this...many people in Canada and the USA think she was introduced to the public by Happy Days, and Stumbln' In was her first and only hit record....they don't know that she had almost 5 years of 7 hit singles and 3 good selling LPS totaling 20 million by that time....she was well known in Detroit and the mid west but a cult favorite here in the US....her greatest exposure here came for opening for her old friend from Detroit Alice Cooper on his '75 Welcome To My Nightmare tour....all her international hits failed to chart big here....her first solo single Rolling Stone in '72 was a worldwide flop....except for of all places Portugal where it reached #1!...she was the only female star to be considered part of the big glam/stomp rock wave along with T.Rex, Slade, Sweet, Bowie, Gary Glitter....that swept Europe from '72-midway thru '75. If you want to stretch your Suzi watches....Daytona Demon was a hard edged race car track tht was another early hit single, Too Big was a #14 UK hit in '74....lots of swagger there, Cat Size is her self penned coming of age ballard.....much later in the 80's Tonight I Could Fall in Love was a great textured ballard, and Baby You're A Star was a return to the hard rock formula.....her covers of Tom Petty's Breakdown, Ray Charles Hit The Road Jack and Dave Clark 5;s Glad All Over are among the best fo the many rock standards she has covered....there was a group called FANCY (not FANNY!) that covered Wild Thing in 1975...very bass heavy, female vocalist...I thought that was Suzi finally getting a USA radio hit....Fancy also did a great heavy song called Touch Me (not the Doors track) I look forward to seeing more of your videos...this was my first!

Was a fan in the 1970s but too young for gigs. Saw her various times live in the 1990s and early 2000s, still great. At one of those I met her, because I used to write a 1970s music magazine and featured Suzi in one edition so gave her a copy. Seen recent interviews with her and she was talking about her music history, her composing on piano and bass playing, and singing of course. Still sounds great. An American who found big success in the UK and elsewhere (and lives in the UK) but never fully appreciated in the US. Shame today that many think Joan Jett was the first badass female musician in leather - good as she is (and I've seen her live twice) - Suzi did it all first.

Devil Gate Drive. Suzi were earlier a member of The Pleasure Seekers alongside her sisters Arlene and Patty. Her sister Nancy later became a member. Patty were also a member of All Female band Fanny. And Arlene are the mother of actress Sherilynn Fenn known for Twin Peaks. Their brother Michael Quatro are also a musician. The piano on 48 Crash are played by Alastair McKenzie . He was very good. Dave Neal on drums and her then husband Len Tuckey on guitar

Lots of Oz connections in an artist we embraced. The great and often forgotten Australian Mike Chapman (look up his bio if you don't believe me) co-wrote and produced this track, like so many of Suzi's songs. When Suzi's biopic movie was released in 2019 we managed to catch the preview of it in Brisbane, with a special guest, Suzi. She did a Q and A at the end and stayed around to meet and greet and sign our old albums etc. Still bloody sassy and the real deal. Great movie by the way.

Late to the party as usual but I have always considered Ms Q to be one of the forerunners of English punk. The drummer is using a pretty standard grip. Jim White from the much loved bands 'people with chairs up their noses', 'fungus brain' and 'venom p stinger' used that. So did Charlie Watts, drummer for an obscure band, possibly Scottish, called 'the rolling stones'. Don't remember what happened to them, but Charlie was a legend. And they both wear their hats to the front.

Suzi, PFM, ????, Aerosmith and Steppenwolf in 1975 in Baltimore. Suzi opened. Aerosmith stole the show from Steppenwolf. I remember PFM with an electric violin. They were great. Look them up. I wish I could remember the 5th band but it was 1975 and that's the period when the lights came on the arena was full of smoke as most old timers can tell you. I'm not saying any of that smoke can from me but something caused that 5th band to escape my mind.

The violinist was Mauro Pagani, who later left the band. Also a flutist. From Chiari(BS-Brescia, Lombardy, Bud Spencer/Carlo PEDERSOLI father and maybe also mother from there too, although he was born in Naples!). PFM stands for Premiata Forneria Marconi(=Marconi Awarded Bakery, although here sounds more like Ovenry. Sic!) because they used to carry all the instruments inside this car, sponsored by them. They also had a 33 produced from Greg Lake's Manticore UK label.
