Reaction to why MAMAMOO is the most underrated kpop group

This reaction was amazing, but I hope that you do another actual guide reaction to Mamamoo that helps you understand their personalities a bit more. I suggest the Mamamoo Introduction Guide of 2022 that has two parts that helps you get to know both the members and the group.

MMM is an emotional rollercoaster and their story reads like a tv series script that would have been rejected for being too unbelievable, even for a kdrama. To say they started from less than zero is putting it mildly. Two members were audition rejects because of their looks or age and the other two were retreads from other companies. Your girl Hwasa was dismissed from at least one audition and told she was fat and ugly while Solar was rejected by about 50 agencies because she was too old (over 20). Moonbyul & Wheein signed with RBW after failing to debut with another agency. At a pre-debut industry showcase RBW was told MMM would fail and that they were crazy to debut them as the first group under the new agency. Since Mamamoo's return from the My Con world tour that ended in June 2023 the members have been working on solo and subunit projects. Among other things, during the last year they've released two full length solo albums, two EPs, several non-album singles and they've done a number of covers on their yt channels or live. Each of the members and the Solar/Moonbyul subunit Mamamoo+ has gone on an Asian or world tour and they've each made a bunch of festival appearances. Solar also spent several months this year performing her 2nd musical theatre role in an adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. As far as we know there are no current plans for a full group comeback anytime soon, which is sad but on the other hand working separately on solo and subunit stuff has only increased their output. MMM is one of if not the hardest working group in showbiz and it's hard to keep track of everything they do. The statement that Solar is at the beginning of her solo journey is extremely deceptive. She was the last member to make her official solo debut with Spit It Out in 2020 but she was actually the first member to release a solo album and the first to hold solo concerts, both in 2018. The album Solar Gamsung (emotion or sensitivity) is a collection of covers she released with MVs between 2015-18. Prior to 2020 she had also made a number of high profile appearances as a soloist, including being the only member to compete as a solo artist on Immortal Songs. But in kpop you don't make your debut until you promote a new song on the tv music shows so despite 5 years of solo activities Spit It Out is considered to be her debut song. Since you've already fallen for Hwasa you might as well check out her solo stuff. The slow version of Maria you heard in the video is not the tempo of the original recording and it was the only time I recall her singing it as a ballad. I'd start with her debut song Twit and follow up with Maria, LMM (Lost My Mind) and I'm a B(*tch). Two other must-hear songs are Be Calm, her solo song during the 4 Season 4 Color series, and her three-way collab on Don't with rapper Loco and songwriter/producer Woogie. Don't was a massive hit as well as one of the sexiest collabs in kpop history.

For me, Mamamoo will always be "that group", not just in gen3 but in the history of kpop ❤❤🦋❤ I think you already have a template in mind on how to proceed with Mamamoo, nevertheless I'll suggest reacting to INTRODUCING MAMAMOO by Purple Hawke (aka MOO YT Mamamoo). It's also very well edited and gives you even more insight to the members individually and as a group. Looking forward to many more of your reactions, especially to Mamamoo.

The amount of music Mamamoo has released as a group and soloist in 10 years is staggering. Mamamoo - 2 Albums, 12 EPs, Japanese releases, and 1 compilation album (remastered and rearranged). Wheein - 1 Album, 2 EPs, and 2 singles Moonbyul - 1 Album, 2 EPs, 3 singles Hwasa - 1 EP, and 2 Singles Solar - 3 EPs Don't even get me started on the huge amount of OSTs, featured artists, and CFs (songs for commercials).

I came here to bring a brief clarification about the Mamamoo group, they are celebrating 10 years of existence, but their current situation differs a lot from the Red Velvet group, unfortunately. Mamamoo does not have a declared disbandment, however they are no longer from the same company. Only Solar and Moonbyul renewed their contracts with RBW, Hwasa and Wheein are currently in separate companies. Therefore, future projects with the entire group become complicated and increasingly rare.

Agree 100% with the people suggesting the Moo YT guides! The Purple Hawke one is a classic and also very good, however it is very dated and (imo) the robot voice is grating compared to an actual human speaking

I'll try not to duplicate what others have already recommended. For group songs I'll suggest my two favorites Decalcomanie and Destiny. Destiny does not have an MV, but the Queendom performance (it's the song that won them the final round) is safe to react to. Then why not dip your toes into some humerous songs. 1CM is a song where they are dissing each other about their height (they are 1 CM apart Wheein is shortest then Hwasa then Solar and Moonbyul is tallest). Sleep in the Car, For most of their career prior to Covid they made appearances at many colleges and festivals, sometimes doing 3 or 4 events in a day. They were complaining about having to sleep in the car and the CEO suggested they turn it into a song. Um Oh Ah Yeah where three of the members are in drag and Solar spends the video chasing after Moonbyul. This one is played at nearly every Korean pride celebration and is their normal final encore at their concerts. I think it would be worth doing an album reaction for Moonbyul's solo album 6equence. The album follows the arc of a saphic love affair. There are MV's for every song including the intro Synopsis. In G999 there is the first infatuation, then in Shutdown things have gotten hot and heavy. Lunatic, the relationship is getting fraught, with too much of an emotional roller coaster. Then For Me is the break up. Finally Ddu, Ddu, Ddu is looking back on the break up and love affair after encountering the ex. For Solar I think it would be interesting to start with Lived Like a Fool, the first of her Solar Gamsung MV's. Bluebird and Adrenaline on her channel Solarsido are two of my favorite of her OSTs. For me Wheein's Watercolor is her best song. In addition to the great music and choreo the extended metaphor in the lyrics is just brilliant and totally fits with Wheein, since she's a talented visual artist. For Hwasa, just follow Kudgeond's recommendations though I'd add that the forming of her collaboration with Loco and the making of Don't are followed in a series of episode of the show Hyena on the Keyboard (they have English subs). The mutual admiration and crushing on each other is very very cute.

You can go watch some other reactors who have watched it, to see what it looks like (just a few moments so you don't ruin it for yourself :) It's like watching their "Immortal Songs Medley, which is also from one of their concerts (I don't mean any of the 14 actual performances from the IS TV show). From everything I have seen (and I watch a lot of reactions lol) Reactors watch fancams of a lot of Mamamoo concerts without issue. Especially these 2 performances (the solo parade and the Immortal songs medley). SO you can feel safe with them. En verdad no entiendo a las personas que odian a Hwasa, ella es amable y dulce, con decirte que le compró comida a unos fans que la esperaron temprano en el aeropuerto, tambien que cuando se encuentra con algunos fans ya sea fuera del hotel, en la calle o aeropuerto va y da autografos con una sonrisa grande. Datos: en la primera presentación que mamamoo hizo en show solo fueron 3 personas (2 amigos de wheein y una hermana de moonbyul). -La empresa (rbw) no tenia presupuesto para un coreografo pero tambien no tenian presupuesto para un maquillador ( se maquillaban entre ellas) ni para los vestuarios (tenian que alquilar o las chicas usaban sus propias ropas para los show's). -Moonbyul audicionó para vocalista pero le dijeron que necesitaban una rapera, asi que practicó (con la ayuda de solar) y pudo lograrlo. -El primer premio que ganaron fué despues de dos años de su debut (2016), era su ultima oportunidad, la empresa las iba a disolver. -Solar es actriz de teatro musical, participó en 2 musicales (mata hari y notre dame). -Tienen 3 canciones para sus fans: I miss you, I love you too y Star wind flower sun (escrita por solar).

Imo, Mamamoo isn't an underrated group. They have a stable career and a substantial fanbase, which helped them win 1st place on the survival show Queendom. They are also very talented, with each member maintaining a successful solo career
