I'm watching from the vicinity of Zakopane, from a small village (4,500 inhabitants) . If you want to see an "Italian" Renaissance town, I suggest visiting Zamość. The entire urban layout, which is a practical implementation of the Renaissance concept of an ideal city-fortress (citta ideale), was designed by the Italian architect Bernard Morando . For me, the most beautiful railway route in Poland is the one from Krakow to the spa town called Krynica Zdrój . If someone wants to visit the wildest areas of Poland where bears live, they go to the Bieszczady Mountains which are on the Poland-Ukraine border. There is also a very nice town of artists called Kazimierz Dolny

18:40 this is a regional cheese originating from the Tatra Mountains. You can buy it practically all over the country, but it is identified with the Tatra Mountains and Lesser Poland, sometimes with other mountain regions. Personally, I recommend it with the addition of cranberries, because the cheese itself is salty and smoky. We call it oscypki (plural)

Yes, it is cheap, but for a foreigner. Prices in Poland are adjusted to the earnings of Poles. You divide Polish prices by 4.5 and you get the price in dollars or euros. And this grilled bread, which you thought was too small, is called Oscypek. This is smoked highlander cheese and grilled. It is smoky and salty and is eaten mainly with cranberries which balances the saltiness. Foreigners like it because they don't know how it tastes. The best time to visit Poland is May because it is already green and not as hot as in summer (30 C) and early autumn - it is still warm and the trees take on various shades of yellow, called the Polish golden autumn.

When it comes to traveling by train, I personally love and recommend the Olsztyn - Suwałki route. "Land of a Thousand Lakes" (kraina tysiąca jezior)you can get off in Ełk and from there go to the "Biebrza National Park", in my opinion the most beautiful place in the spring season

When man in video talks about the difficult Polish language, he gives as an example the word "prosim", which according to him means "please" in polish and that Poles are happy when they hear it. Maybe they are happy, but "prosim" means please, but in czech launguage - Poles understand this word. In Polish "proszę" (pronounced 'prosha') means "please".

I recommend you guys train from krakow to warsaw it's just 2h drive and it is the fastest train in poland (pendolino) you can also watch the whole thing I mean polish nature and the views:) maybe this is not the cheapest option because the ticket costs ~$42 for one person but you can go in the middle of the week like tuesday - thursday because "intercity" trains have a 3-day ticket which means you can go anywhere in poland for $50 (one person ofc)

Polish jokes are popular in USA. In XIX c. Imigrants from Germany came to USA with their stereotypes - that's where it came from. English and German languages are in the same group. Polish is in Slavic group. Even Iranian language is closer to Polish (and other slavic languages) than English. But we have lot of words from other eupean languages: Latin, German, French and English (espacialy in new technologies). In Polish there lots of sounds, that aren't in western languages. And our grammar - it's very sophisticated. "Prosim" is in Check but we understand that. In Polish Please is "Proszę" [say as: proshe]. Probably it wasn't fermented fish, it was just fish (herring) in vinegar. Pierogi - fried, but not at deep fry. Lot of people are visiting Poland, but most of them are just at 10 always the same places and no where else. Check some smaller and less famous towns. For us it isn't so cheap here. You said that food was at half of German price. Yes, but we earn 1/3 of German payment (and that is progress, 15 years ago it was 1/5). Tatra mountains are our only really high mountains, but there are o lot of tourists. After you go there, You can try another mountains: Beskidy (Krynica, Żywiec), Bieszczady (Solina, Wetlina), Sudety (Karpacz, Kudowa) or even Góry Świętokrzyskie (Kielce, Nowa Słupia) - they are smal, but still mountains. In northern Poland there are a few lake districts. Town squares in medieval towns were their hearts and advertisements. So if already were at big cities, go to smaller towns - there's always something more. At ending on grill, there was a cheese "oscypek" (traditional kind from Tatra mountains region). In Cracow is The Biggest Medieval Town Square in Europe. But even in Poland there bigger, but not medieval.

ZAKOPANE means "Buried" and is not an ordinary City. According to some of the Oldest People living in the city (Górali), there is a Cave of Sleeping Knights who live in the Tatra Mountains, this is related to WAWEL CASTLE, according to them, The Mount "GIEWONT" looks like a "sleeping knight", something like the King of Poland Tomb of Władysław III Warneńczyk in Wawel (his body was never found ).There are legends about this. Our dear beloved John Paul II loved the Tatra Mountains, he loved to walk there and pray to God. According to the oldest people living in the city, there is also a secret of the wind which is called "Wiatr Halny", according to them, when it blows, some people behave "strangely indescribable", there are also legends about it. "City of Wizards". Wooden Cottages At The Foot Of Tatra Mountains by Sebastian Pitoń Before WW2, Warsaw was considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and was even called “Paris of the East" its architecture.

No scenic train routes to speak of really, the landscape is mostly the same throughout. You can have a great experience if you stick to the Pendolino trains tho :) Old towns are the best in the big cities, mountains are great for walks, seaside is great only in the hottest months of summer. If you manage to reach Dębki at the coastline in the north, you'll find one of the best hidden gem beaches there are. Have a good one :)

This information is from 2017, so it is a bit outdated, Poland has changed a bit since then. When it comes to customer service culture, there is nothing to discuss here, the gentleman from the clip is American, there is a completely different customer service culture focused on tipping, in Poland we have the so-called mirroring - like the customer, like the service. If you are not nice, if you are condescending, you will be treated the same way. Rolling out red carpets and getting up the a*s is reserved for very luxurious restaurants or shopping outlets, but even there you will be treated appropriately for your rude behavior, maybe in a more subtle way. And one important thing, do not mess with the kitchen or the restaurant staff, unless you want to have a "surprise" in the food.

The thing about this expressionless Polish face is that we are not Americans who smile at every opportunity. I think that our neutral facial expression also has a historical background when we were under partition, not to express our emotions officially because it could cause a lot of unpleasantness. That doesn't mean we don't laugh, but when there is an opportunity to laugh. And besides, in Poland, if someone laughs at anything, they are considered an idiot. On the street we have a neutral facial expression because why should we smile? And in a restaurant, a waiter works, takes orders and fulfills them, and that's it.

if you have an English background (especially if additionally Afrikaans which is basically a Dutch dialect) then German is (both are West Germanic languages with some Latin/Greek influences) less difficult, because you can already without any translation recognizes MASSES of words and sentences. Everyone without knowledge of German (but English) can test this NOW. With a bit of awareness, pattern matching you will (in difference to Polish, Chinese, Russian etc.) without any translation understand at least most of those German words and sentences => Tiger, Wolf, Hund und Katze, Giraffe, akkurat, Praezision, Sommer und Winter, Januar, Mama (Mutter) und Papa (Vater) + Kinder sind eine Familie, Haus und Garten, Februar, Wort, Linie, Der Sommer ist warm. Der Winter ist kalt. Ich habe Hunger! Ich trinke Bier ;) ... das Automobil ist repariert. Dies/Das ist gut! Das Land. Die Information ist irrelevant und inakkurat! Das Material ist gut. the point here is that many people (in this case English speakers) who are not aware about languages, languages families, similarities etc. start already with a wrong perspective on languages. people who are aware about that and know for instance a bit more about the common older roots of English, German and Dutch, look different on such languages and if they get a bit of a feeling how the once very same or at least similar Germanic dialects changed over time like Brother (English), Bruder (German) and Broer (Dutch) ... or Haus (German), House (English), Huis (Dutch) or Vater (German), Father (English) and Vader (Dutch) then one has the chance with a bit of pattern matching to reconstruct a lot of context. This usually does not work if one just expects 'totally different' words and language, just because everything seems foreign on the first superficial glance... finding the right perspective is the key here .... btw., the variations of the same/similar words are also not that much different within the same languages if one looks at the different dialects...

Those religious Poles in many (too many cases) are also intolerant. So I don't think it is a virtue in a modern world. I am from a Slavic background and I don't think German is so difficult. There are many types of "pierogi". My children love those ones with fruits (strawberries, or blueberries, and so on) with yogurt. They are available in the UK, however in Polish shops only. You can get those ones with meet, or those with potato and cottage mixed together, in Tesco. Don't go to Zakopane! There are too many tourists! It is like in Tokyo even on summits crowds of ppl. Those locals are very conservative and greed. I've never been there and I don't want. I couldn't see that very well, however it is difficult for me to imagine pierogi being grilled unlike bread, so I think it was bread.

I would say that religion has nothing to do with morals. Its not like every immoral man is an atheist. Its oposite. Most vicious people in human history were devoted to god. About religion in poland. Most people are baptised but this dont mean that they are religious. Most poles are non-practicing believers. So there is a Bible at home, but I receive the priest after Christmas carols only because it is tradition.

If you smile i Poland, you might be judged as crazy or get punched in the face because some people may think you're laughing at them or are simply envious. Additionally, we are financially struggling; everything is expensive, and we don't have enough money for travel, housing, etc. Moreover, the weather is mostly dull.
