She hates the other girl ONLY because she's jealous, and she knows she's trying to "steal her man". Melanie did a great job showing that this toxicity hurts everyone involved, as she played both girls herself. In her later stuff as Crybaby grows up, boys attention becomes less of a trophy and more of a bother (strawberry shortcake, k-12 movie with principles son tricking her, etc) unless the boys is truly worth her time and good.

Thank you for this comment. I also feel like melanie (not the blond one melanie) in this video is the villian. It's not right thing to do to steal someones boyfriend or girlfriend if they are in a relationship. My ex boyfriend was cheating on me and this really hurts me. He sure was the problem, but the girl that knew hes in relationship with me and still was trying to steal him for her trophy... its also very mean thing to do

Remember, theyre not JUST children. In Melanie Martinez videos the characters are often simultaneously little kids AND older. Melanie uses that to show the parallels behind the behaviors of both age groups. We grow up and the specific things we do change, but the childish nature behind those acts often stays the same.

@@eclipseghost738 what does that have to do with anything I said, though? He’s actually almost done with the album; only 2 songs left. We can recommend other Melanie songs once he finishes the music videos (including The Bakery). I know he’s listening to Melanie in general, but the other songs don’t really have an order. Listening to them in order won’t effect the Crybaby story plot like the 3 main albums would. It doesn’t matter what order he listened to the other songs. That’s why I didn’t include them. We’re not debating whether he plans to listen to them or not, this was just recognizing that he’s almost done with the Crybaby Album. I don’t get the point of your comment.
