I read somewhere that the writers confirmed the fan theory that Steven could have lifted the hammer when they all tried in that one scene but chose not to because he thought it would cause pointless trouble. They also said that Thor suspected as much (hence the 'I _knew_ it')

Cap lifted Thor's hammer in the comic.

Back in the 1st Thor movie when Odin took Thors powers away and banished him to earth, he sent the hammer as well, but not before he(Odin) had cast onto the hammer these words "Whoever holds this hammer, should they be worthy, will possess the power of Thor". Being worthy, in this case is to be selfless, sacrificing, humble and pure of heart. Steve Rogers met all of these requirements and so much more even before he became Captain America. All the other avengers didn't have these qualities. Hell even Thors power was taken away by Odin because of his disobedience and ego. It took Thor dying to save Natalie Portman for Thor to get his powers back.

Speculation has it is that in Avengers age of ultron when they all try and lift mjolnir, Captain America gives it a go and moves it slightly. Once he seen he could move it he pretends as if he’s giving it his all in order to give the illusion that Thor is the best avenger. In End game he summoned mjolnir with out hesitation and Thor admits he knew all along captain America was always worthy.

@@keviquickscope7306 What I'm wondering is this. Steve Rogers became Captain America back in the 40s. Odin took Thors powers away and banished him 60 years later. So my question is this. Did Odin forsee Steve Rogers as being worthy to hold Thors hammer back when Steve Rogers bexame Captain America in the chance that for some reason Thor himself would not be able to?
@marvelhq52415 ай бұрын
I mean odin could have forseen it since space stone was involved in first captain America movie and there were talks of Asgard too

I always liked Cap immediately launches into 4-5 offensive moves using Mjolnir and his shield together. He didn't keep doing the same move, he varied it to keep Thanos off guard.

Also, everyone gets confused about Thanos grabbing Stormbreaker. Mjolnir only has the worthiness parameters becsuse Odin enchanted it. Odin never enchanted Stormbreaker, thus, anyone can weild it

I though this was pretty obvious, but anyone would be forgiven this fact since the first Thor movie DID come out a whole decade before Endgame 😅

Vision never used the lightning when he was fighting Ultron with Mjolnir. Which argues for the idea that he could hold it not because he was worthy, but because he was an inanimate machine. You put the hammer in an elevator, the elevator can still go up. Cap used the lightning.

Iron Man’s glove holding onto the hammer yet failing to lift it despite firing all its rockets argues against the “all machines can lift Mjolnir” theory.

@@isaackellogg3493 But Tony Stark's hand was in the glove. Mjolnir was resisting Starks' will to lift it.

Too bad Cap didn't know he could have used the hammer to pin Thanos to the ground like Thor did to Loki in ... I think ... Dark World. It would have been over at that point.

It must be said, CapAm picking up Mjolnir was probably the biggest moment and best decision they've ever made after RDJ being Iron Man, topping that is pretty fucking hard. The only thing that might come close is if there is ever a sort of Amalgam between DC and Marvel Cinematic Universe (never going to happen) is if Wonder Woman picks it up, happened in the comics too, and i loved it.

There is a common misunderstanding about what it means to be "worthy" of mjolnir. You dont have to be a good person to be worthy. Someone like Thanos could potentially be worthy. Its more pertaining to ones confidence than them just being pure of heart
