I had read somewhere that the reason Tony always throws up the peace sign is because that's what the soldier did in the first movie when he was trying to take a picture with him. Tony made fun of him for it, and the soldier died shortly after. It was Tony's way of honoring him.

It's never really explicitly explained because Captain America came out AFTER this movie, but because you watched Captain America first, it'll actually make more sense; The new element Tony created is likely synthesized Tesseract energy, based off of Howard's notes and studies of the Tesseract when he found it in the ocean at the end of Cap's movie. Otherwise, it's never really explained what the "new element" is 😅 Also, you said at the end, "Tony's still doing his peace sign" ✌️ he does that alot through out the series because the soldier at the beginning of the first movie who asked to do a peace sign in their selfie was Tony's first casualty experience.

@@reactswithjax , Theory (one Never, to my knowledge, Ever Stated "in-Universe"): Tony's "superpower" is 'biological / energetic Inertial-Dampening', (basically an internal "force-field"), which is the ONLY way he could even survive ANY of the moves / directional-changes his suit puts him through (or is subjected to); fore in reality, one's body DOES NOT stop when the vehicle stops, one continues to travel at that sustained velocity until all inertia is transferred to the impacted object... that continued movement (even within the body / skull) is what k*lls a person above ~36MPH, when hitting a stationary or much slower object, without some form of dampening (seat-belts, airbags, padding, etc). Tony's suits may also provide "more" energetic inertia canceling "force-fields", but he did survive many "death dealing" blows, before donning the entire suit (while in the "testing phase" in the first movie), without having to be transferred to a hospital, unlike normal humans. [ I know this second-hand, through my Father's death which resulted from hitting his head upon an SUV's roof, as it was traveling at that range of speed, while riding his bicycle (he was wearing a helmet). His body had no visible marks, even hours later as he took his last slow breath, when he passed with his entire family (even siblings from out-of-state) gathered by his home bedside; moved into the "Living room" (there-after named the "Death room"; the 3rd-story attic became the new "Living room"). The Doctors said that the impact, through his helmet, had squashed / ruptured his hind-brain and brain-steam. He only looked as though he was sleeping, until he was no longer breathing!; then, that very instant, my Father was no longer present, it was only a body that "resembled" him, but it was NOT him. I was only 16 when he was taken from me, the day before my Mother's 43rd-birthday; that was 34yrs ago {my Mother stopped celebrating her birthday, until recently; can you blame her?}. Plus, the night before 'our morning bike-ride' (during an argument) I had told him that I "hated" him and that, "I will never go biking with you again." ...... Be careful what you say, because you never know if it may come true.] Have a great day/evening, Jacqueline. You are a joy to watch. Sincerely, Zragonal

I think his priority is to use his popularity/showmanship abilities to have people care about what he cares about: the future and leaving a better one behind for future generations. It was a publicity stunt for Stark Expo. Sometimes, I really feel like not enough people, in canon as well as in the fandom, question Tony's public persona/his masks.

What's funny is that it's not even that he admitted it: there was a dog (or was it a cat? I think it was a dog) who was in immediate danger, and the only way for Tony to save it was to put on the Iron Man armor in public, while he was doing an interview. So that's how he blew up his cover: to save a dog.

The sad part about Mickey Rourke’s performance in this movie is that a lot of his scenes of character development, including his intelligence and knowledge, as well as delving more into the reasons why he hated the Stark family, were cut out for running time. This ultimately left a lot people not appreciating the hard work and dedication that he put into his character and performance. Some criticized him negatively and he even received a Golden Raspberry Award nomination for his performance. I would love to see a full-length restored cut of this movie with as many deleted scenes put back in as possible, while maintaining a coherent storyline. Mickey and Director Jon Favreau have confirmed that there are a lot of deleted scenes.

It handled multiple characters/introductions and plotlines very well AND gets better the more you know about the events of the MCU. (I don't consider it a spoiler because its not further explained in the movies, but in case you didn't draw the connection: Tonys newly invented element is the power of the tesseract from the Captain America movie. You see drawings of the tesseract in Howards notebook and he explains in the video that he just doesn't have the technologie to do anything with it) Especially watching it now after seeing so much development with all these characters Ironman 2 feels way more important for Tonys character arc than I initially felt when I saw it at the cinema. @Bensonders
@Bensonders Жыл бұрын
@@reactswithjax To be fair: that tesseract bit was hidden so subtly by Marvel that it was literally impossible to see the connection for first time viewers! Ironman 2 was released one year before Captain America (and there was another movie inbetween aswell), so people didn't even know about the tesseract or the plot of Captain America and while watching CA, they didn't really think about Tony inventing a new element anymore. Viewers at the time were more like "sure, now he invents his own elements??" and just discarded it as sci-fi-fantasy. The connection only became visible when you rewatched Ironman 2 later! I found that to be a brilliant way to interconnect everything and so cool to discover even more little details. Normally I wouldn't have told you all of this, but you already watched Captain America, so I thought it would be a nice addition now and maybe get lost otherwise. And you are totally right! I never thought about how hard it must be if you want some more information about a MCU movie, but there are like 30 of them now and you will absolutely get spoiled if you google anything! And this became a wall of text now, haha, sorry! 😅

Cool thing about the way Phase 1 intertwined/connected is that there is something known as “Fury’s Big Week”! Basically, imagine Iron Man 2 (Tony, Natasha & Rhodey)took place like Friday-Monday. Then The Incredible Hulk (Bruce), movie was Tuesday- Wednesday. Then Thor (Thor and Clint) takes place Wednesday-Friday. Insightful. Your're absolutely right on the way this movie makes "the great Tony Stark" more relatable as a fellow human being with the palladium poisoning. It was a brilliant method to amalgamate Tony Stark's alcoholism story arc from the early 80's in the comic.

Fun fact about the missile ExWife, Hammer says it’s a ‘kinetic-kill side-winder vehicle’. Meaning it needs to be accelerated to an extremely high velocity to be effective. Rhodey was way to close to his target to work, soo which means it was tecnically Rodey's fault it didnt work.

You’re right about how Marvel made all the stories intertwine and created continuity between the films. It’s like one single story told from multiple perspectives. IMO it’s what made the MCU so much more popular than DC.

Fun reaction - thank you. Subscribed. Really glad you're picking up on how this movie is inter-connected to other movies. I really enjoy Iron Man 2 - I probably enjoy it more than the first. I don't know if you noticed, but in that final scene with Nick Fury, on the screens, you can see video footage of the news broadcast from The Incredible Hulk (at the university). Indicating that perhaps the events of The Incredible Hulk are happening simultaneously as the events in Iron Man 2. Looking forward to seeing your reaction of Thor.

I don't know if anyone has said this yet and I know I'm a bit late but you said that you liked Sam Rockwell so a little cool fact about this character of his is that when he was preparing for the role, he thought Hammer would be the type of guy to use fake tan so if you pay attention to any scene he's in, his palms will be a darker shade than the rest of his skin, hinting that he had recently applied his fake tan 😅

I love the script in this movie. Best superhero name drop, "you wanna be the War Machine take your shot". Fury about Rhody taking the suit, "little brother broke in kicked your ass and he just took it!?!?!?!?" About his dad, "dead for 30 years, still taking me to school." Also the little gem, "Its your fault I just wanted to say I am sorry." Finally textbook narcissism hahaha are some of my favorites.

I'm glad you had the "good continuation of Tony's deveopment" take away for this movie, as I do too and it's a big part of why I like Iron Man 2 a lot (probably more than many do). In the first movie, we see him start to shed the more negative side of his ego (though of course that ego is still a big part of him), and in the sequel this expands to him needing to learn to open up to and rely on others. He's dying, but rather than sharing this with Pepper and Rhodey, or maybe even turning to SHIELD for help, he bottles it up. He is so sure he knows best, and that opening up about this wouldn't help and would just bring an emotional burden he can't handle. So instead he just does what he thinks he has to: he signs the company over to Pepper, he lets Rhodey take a suit and gives him the perfect excuse to do so. He does trust them, he's trusting them with two of the biggest and most important things in his life, but he doesn't have the emotional maturity to actually talk with them about it. I've seen some complain about Tony's behaviour during his party, but I suspect he either isn't genuinely drunk, or is at least over-playing it. He's acting like an out of control buffoon in order to prompt Rhodey to take action. In the following scene at the donut place, they even talk about how there's no unauthorised access: Tony really did let Rhodey take the suit. And this emotionally stunted growth likely comes from Tony's strained relationship with his father, which is why him hearing those words in the recording was so important. Howard kept that shut away for so long, and Tony is doing the same sort of thing by insisting on "going it alone" with his issues. By the end of the movie, Tony is finally opening up to Pepper about his feelings, fought alongside Rhodey to take down Vanko, and is (at least somewhat) playing ball with Nick Fury and SHIELD. The movie isn't perfect (I would've liked to have seen more development of Rourke's Vanko for instance), but I think it does a lot more good work with Tony's character than people give it credit for.

When Tony & Captain America meet you'll see Tony is very hostile towards Steve. That's partly explained in this movie, when Tony say "my father never even said he liked me," when in a later movie he grumbles "And this is the guy my dad never shut up about..." He's jealous of the obvious respect & affection Howard had for Steve. The way I heard the Spidey story is that it was just a random kid at first, and the Peter hypothesis was a poplar fan concept the studio later embraced. A lot of the integration of these movies is due to the work of Kevin Feige, coordinating the different productions. I wish LucasFilms had something similar for the later Star Wars movies.

It's wild to think about it, but the success of these ironman movies lead to Favreau being asked to do The CGI realistic Lion King, which lead to CGI realistic Jungle Book, the tech from developed from those two and the people he met while doing those movies lead to Favreau working with Faloni on The Mandalorian, which basically showed Disney the direction that fans want from Star Wars, which has now spawned multiple projects. The rejuvenation of a beloved franchise born from the rejuvenation of another beloved franchise, just wild how life works sometimes.

Couple things about Sam Rockwell in this - notice the palms of his hands, which he shows several times. PLEASE don't watch trailers or read anyone's comments about things you haven't seen yet. It will definitely spoil the fun of the reveals when they happen ... at the appropriate time. Now, Ivan's (Mickey Rourke) character knew how to make an Arc Reactor, because those plans you saw him looking at were a joint effort between his father and Howard Stark, Tony's dad. So, he didn't have to be a genius, and as it actually proves out, he wasn't. He just followed the plans, but it was Tony who told him how to make the result stronger/more powerful. Jacqueline (Jax) : It's Papa Stark Steve : Yeah, a HUGE improvement over their 1st choice ... Papa Smurf Tony: I was going to make you an omelet and tell you. Jax: That was what the omelet was .. it was an omelet of ... here's your food ... Steve: No, it was an, "Omelet you know something about me that is going to upset you ..." BTW, no where on the planet is it easy to know or bypass a password without either knowing it (a default or standard one that everyone uses), knowing specific information about the person whose account you're trying to hack, or finding a piece of paper or computer file with the password written down on/in it. There IS a means in some systems to force it to wipe out the password, but in this movie, none of those things applied, since he was approaching a new system he had never seen. It's just something movies use to make it appear that the person is a genius hacker but, NO ONE'S THAT GOOD. About watching the movies out of order ... I realize you think it was a good thing, hindsight and all, but it was the WRONG thing. You weren't meant to understand certain things yet, and as you know, they would have all been revealed to you in due (and at the proper) time. Instead, things from this movie, as well as that one, won't have the same impact that they might have had. You may appreciate it, but you would have appreciated it more if you had waited. As a bad analogy, when a lot of guys want sex, they want to "finish" quickly, because it's all about the climax and they can't wait to get there. As a woman, I'm sure you know about this. Women USUALLY need time to warm up to the moment, and so need and want you to take your time getting there ... watching the movies out of order is like finishing sex too quickly ... yeah, it feels good ... for a moment, but it could have felt GREAT, and for far longer and much deeper than the quick one. All that said, I still absolutely love your reactions and I think you're awesome 👍😊🥰❣❣.
