24:20 The kids don't have a short memory. They don't have the memories of childhood magic at all. They were stored in the teeth. That's why Pitch's first step to tipping the balance was to take them. No memories of childhood wonder, then no dreams of childhood wonder, and with one failed Easter the balance tips completely.
@calibadgerdude6082Күн бұрын
Fun is the opposite of fear, which is why Jack is so effective against pitch. Basically, when you’re having fun, fear becomes inconsequential and easily forgotten.

He had led the Golden Armies in capturing the Fearlings and their ilk, then volunteered to guard the prison planet they had been imprisoned in. He kept vigil for years, forced to listen to the prisoners' constant whispering and pleading. His only solace was thinking of his daughter, of whom he kept a photograph of in a locket. But one day, sensing his weakness, the prisoners imitated her voice and hypnotized Kozmotis to believe she was being held inside with them. Frantic, he opened the doors to release her, but was instead possessed by ten thousand Fearlings, transforming him into Pitch, the Nightmare King."

With the self-described big and imposing Santa, the amount of screen time devoted to the workshop and the sleigh, the big goofy Yetis, the visits to the Poles, the general setting of Jack in wintery environments, and blizzards on Easter, Guardians could easily qualify as a Christmas movie! . . . Where DOES it snow that much on Easter? Not here in Oklahoma. I remember, about 3rd grade, we read a story set on Thanksgiving, and one character keeps wincing at the snow blowing in here eyes. I kept complaining to the teacher that "It doesn't snow on Thanksgiving! It snows on Christmas!" I was pretty insistent on this point, I recall.
@The_Early_GamerКүн бұрын
My idea is that Pitch Black was indeed useful once. Back when the world was less safe and full of danger, fear kept you alive. Or maybe he was supposed to use his fear to build/protect courage in children but instead he just kept terrorizing kids, so the moon made the other guardians instead.
@tinystegosaurus58712 сағат бұрын
Was looking for someone else to mention this, fear is very important. Without fear, humanity would not survive. Just go into dangerous situations (and perish), not prepare for the winter ahead because you have no fear of starvation. Fear keeps us alive.

It's a fun movie, and one of the better Discworld adaptations. But if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. As good as the movie is, the book is exponentially better. Sir Terry Pratchett's comedic and satirical writing was unmatched.

Pitch use to be a hero of the Golden age, his true name was Kozmotis Pitchiner. he led the golden armies against the fearlings (they are like shadow-like creatures), Nightmare men (humanoid figures), and Nightmares (the sinister Horses made of blacksand). at that time the House of Lunanoffs (During the Golden Age the universe was ruled by the Constellations led by great, benevolent families who governed with imagination, fairness and flair. Of all these regal families, the House of Lunanoff was the most beloved) vowed to to rid the universe of their evil. So they along with other families "build a prison out of lead in the farthermost regions of space". Kozmotis led the Golden Armies in capturing them, then volunteered to keep watch over them. As time passed, Kozmotis started to miss his daughter (Mother Nature) and the Fearlings took the opportunity to trick Kozmotis by mimic his daughter's voice. Kozmotis, believing that his daughter was trap, opened the gates letting the Fearlings escaped and simultaneously get possessed by them, turning Kozmotis Pitchiner into Pitch Black, the Nightmare King.

This animation is so wonderful, the world building is incredible and the characters are extremely charismatic. The Easter Bunny changing from a big, strong warrior to an adorable, short-tempered bunny was, well, obviously cute, right? Incredible battles, good story, captivating soundtrack, everything you expect from a good work is in this film. I couldn't tell if the stuffed animal was a sheep or not, but let's believe it was to keep alive the folklore of sheep being omnipresent gods that routinely appear on your videos.

I first discovered this movie when I was like 16-17 maybe and still till this day I love watching this movie it was creative and very fun, definitely a unique way the portrayed all these characters and the symbolism of their purpose. Also i would like to add that although all of the guardians are very strong in their own way Sandman is definitely the strongest in terms of power. This version of Sandman seems to only govern dreams but the real Sandman is the king of Dreams and Nightmares and In almost every depiction of him he is truly immortal and a sibling of The Endless who are primordial beings. He can die but eventually and always someone will reincarnation his being back into existence so that’s what i mean by truly immortal cause you can’t never really kill the Sandman as long as people believe and especially considering l that everyone dreams and if their were no dreams their is no Sandman.

Fear is important. It's what keeps you alive.
@DoremiFasolatido1979Күн бұрын
Still not quite the right way to look at it. Fear isn't a flaw, or a leader, or an enemy. It's not meant to be ignored or denied, or conquered, or fixed. "Courage" or "bravery" as it's colloquially understood probably does more damage to human society than fear ever has. The best perspective on fear (and pain) is that they're really overbearing friends/family who are obsessively and irrationally concerned about your well-being. And you deal with them exactly the same way. Not by ignoring or confronting, but by talking them down, deescalating the situation. In emergencies that might not be practical at the exact moment and then "stuffing it down" is the right course...but at the earliest opportunity that internal conversation needs to happen. Ignoring or denying them just hands them carte blanche to do whatever they please and you wind up doing even worse things as a consequence than if you'd simply succumbed to them directly. And that's really true of all emotions and impulses. You deny a thing, you grant it power over you...because the problem/foe you can't see (or WON'T see) has the advantage over you. And none of them can ever be conquered...you can't ever "conquer" yourself. "Conquering" your emotions or impulses is really just another form of denial. You resist until you can't, and then you hide it all away just like everyone else. Anyone who tells you they defeated their fear is lying to you, and themselves. The only way to deal with fear and pain are to embrace them and carefully convince them that things will be fine, or at least that there are more important things to worry about. Most of all, fear and pain don't plan...they just react. Doing exactly what they demand is completely useless. They're alarms, not defense systems.
