I just love the fact that every other youtuber is like "oh I heard good things about this book so I read it and it's good!" and he's like "Yeah, the book you absolutely didn't want to read? The book you didn't know existed and absolutely don't care about? Yeah, I read it, so here's my 30 min essay on why you were completely right to not read it in the first place!" This is amazing. Fresh content right there.

Steps to receive the title of "bad boy" 1. Be rude. To everyone. Just do it. 2. Be rich. (Because of course) 3. Have a nickname that you hate. 4. Be the protagonist of a mom book. Congratulations you are now a BAd bOY.

I was one of those wattpad readers (not proud) but i am not a mom reader anymore. All those stories had the same plot same characters the *BAD BOYS* Name was usually Aiden or Alec freaking Ryder. And then the boy would hate the girl because he was in love with her yeah confusing, then this will proceed on (introduce a love triangle, the cliche best friend, her first party, the queen bee of school who hates her for the boy) add a sprinkle of i am not pretty but in the characters she is like lucy hale or selena gomez. The girl would be a judging everyone else and calling them slut etc for how they dress. Then the first kiss with fireworks and butterflies and the 'i am not like other girls'. i am ranting , byeee

i once read a book called something like "the dark knights bride" or smth thinking it would be the typical smutty mom book and bc sometimes you just feel like reading trash, right? well, it turned out to be written and researched really well, the characters were complex and made sense and i learned a bunch about life in the british middle ages in the process so... not quite what i was expecting.

Are you actually upset at this? 😞 Oh no, I'm sorry. I usually just like watching these videos because they make light of these types of books so clearly targeted towards a specific audience. I mean these ARE heavily targeted towards that "mom" audience, but not every mom will read this type of book, clearly. And those who do, you know it's all fine whatever people want to read so long as it doesn't encourage negative behavior, but watching those out of the target audience read the books is hilarious to me.

BooksandLala, chill okay. If this is the first time you’ve heard the term “Mom book” then you’re obviously not exposed to much. He didn’t mean it to insult moms, or to insult you, but you can’t deny the target audience of most of these books are oppressed sex repressed bored housewives who happen to be moms too. And there’s nothing wrong with that! People can enjoy whatever they want. But honestly, if you’re offended by this, try opening a discussion you know like MATURE people do. Or you can continue to rage on the internet. Either way I don’t care. It’s a free country and I’m sure someone will give you your time of day. Just know, if attention is what you’re seeking, and it looks like it is, you’re not going to get it by fuming on someone’s KZbin channel. Honestly, just because you’re offended doesn’t mean anyone’s going to hold your hand and try to make you feel better. This is the INTERNET and if you don’t like something you can click off. Bye, bye now

About the part where it's often romanticized when guys grab the girl by the arm and either keep them in place or drag them around, I don't really get the appeal either. But what I do know is that actually seeing it rather than seeing it in your head when you read immediately kills any sort of romantic aspect you think it might have. This might be a little tangent but in Korean dramas, this happens A LOT. So much so that you literally can't have a drama without featuring that kind of scene at least once. It's meant to be cute when the guy is slightly frustrated and deciding to take control of the situation or whatever but it comes off as extremely creepy and almost abusive. It doesn't help that the women in the situation are often directed to look wide-eyed and caught off guard, dragging their heels behind them so their love interest inadvertently looks like a serial killer. Lol. Just my two cents on that.
@PunkHime89
@PunkHime89 5 жыл бұрын
bloodywonder16238 Eh, I’ve seen discussion go around on the internet allot, but to be completely honest I don’t find it off putting at all. Nor do any of the females I’ve seen dramas with. I mean, yeah you could take it that way, but it’s a really easy grip to get out of if you really want. Maybe it’s a cultural thing? I mean it’s not a turn on, but it’s not a turn off either. It doesn’t come off as creepy or abusive to me, just overconfident? I’ve seen dramas where the female breaks out of the grip (always by just lifting the arm) and it a huge form of rejection. So it feels like it represents some sort of closeness to be able to do that.
@bloodywonder16238
@bloodywonder16238 5 жыл бұрын
@@PunkHime89 Yeah, I do agree with you that it's really a cultural thing and that the women would definitely show more distress had they not been cool with it. It's a trope because people like to see it. The ideas connected behind the trope sometimes feels off to me. Definitely not all cases of this the guy comes off as abusive but it's still an odd dynamic to see it in tandem with the woman looking like she's being dragged. If they guy grabs the woman's hand and they both walk at a similar pace, it reads as her consenting. But when there's a push for the woman to look blindsided and innocent, as though she can't fathom why the man could possibly be doing this, it's a little weird. Well to me anyways. I hope I didn't come off overly sensitive or anything, I'm just looking at this from an analysis standpoint.
@PunkHime89
@PunkHime89 5 жыл бұрын
bloodywonder16238 I understand, and I do realize that the idea of consent is very integral to the trope. Is it, is it not consent? I really just wanted to show one side of a conversation that seems to always be focused on the other side.
@bloodywonder16238
@bloodywonder16238 5 жыл бұрын
@@PunkHime89 I'm glad you did! There's always two sides to things and discussions like this is why I like to comment. Tbh, I actually didn't mind this trope when I was younger. It's just one scene and I know why people have it in the show. The male protagonist has to look cool and all that. It's only after seeing it some 200 times and the trope got tired for me that I put some thought into it. I've seen quite a fair share of these types of dramas. Now I'm just at a point where it is just weird to me, and maybe a little too hammy. Though I will say I don't mind the gentle guiding guys do when the girl is crying or whatever. Consent is a finicky thing that has no black or white. Well, I mean if the girl says no, it's no but with nonverbal interactions, unless she actually fights back or something, it's very difficult to come to a concrete conclusion. There will always be this bit of doubt. This hand grabbing thing just got more complicated than I thought haha.
@PunkHime89
@PunkHime89 5 жыл бұрын
bloodywonder16238 Lol, it is complicated! And yeah, I don’t watch dramas all the time since I’m not a huge TV person, so the trope hasn’t bored me yet. YET, lol. It’s like the whole surprise kiss... annoys me so much! Unless they are in a relationship, kissing someone just to make your feelings known is a no go! 🙅🏻‍♀️It very much fall under consent/no consent, since it all depends on the other persons reaction. But I can see why others would think it romantic, if their experience was positive.
