hi Susan! Oh Henry needs a nap! 😂 I think I read Lucy Barton a long long time ago… I need to start all over before I can read the new one. A winter project maybe?! 😅

Henry has taken over half my bed right now. 😂 That cat can stretch out! A Lucy re-read would be good! (I dnf’d the 2nd book in the series, but I love the others: My Name is Lucy Barton, Oh William, and Lucy by the Sea.) Happy Saturday nite!

@@RoadReads I just went and read my blog post back in 2017 and I did not like Lucy Barton! Oops! 😅😂 So now I don’t know if I should get into this project…

😂😂yeah, I’d say skip it then. 😂🤗

I read All the Colors of the Dark and I agree with you that it’s more literary fiction than thriller. I loved it and thought the characters were so interesting and unique. Definitely will reread it someday. I read his last book, We Begin at the End and really enjoyed it. And I just bought Tall Oaks which I hear a lot of good things. I think he’s a great writer.

So you’d recommend We Begin at the End? I’ll put a library hold on it!

The only vampire book I have read (& do highly recommend) is the original - Dracula by Bram Stoker = Amazing!! Can’t wait to read Tell Me Everything!! So glad to hear it is out now. I definitely enjoyed All The Colors of the Dark, and yes, I am a literary fiction reader.

All the Colors really delivered to the final page, didn’t it?! Hope you enjoy Tell Me Everything! I sure did! 😁

I finished “All The King’s Men” and it will stand as the best book I have ever read. The last line of the novel is on par with that of “The Great Gatsby.”I had to slow my reading down when I got to the last 200 pages as I didn’t want the novel to end.I’m in a quandary as to what to read next. I think I may have to concentrate on non fiction at this juncture, as I fear I will be sorely disappointed in any novel I pick up. I may jump back into David Leeming’s biography of James Baldwin. Happy reading! 🥰📚

Good idea to move to non-fiction next! No reason to ruin a perfectly good read due to the perfection of the last! Happy Saturday to you!! 🤎

I’m not a fan of vampire stories, but I loved reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. One edition of Frankenstein includes her introduction. Frankenstein is one of your favorites, right?

My goodness, Henry is so gorgeous !!!! My very first pet ever was a huge ginger tom cat (that I had to name Ginger of course) I am team FOR Interview, but can certainly appreciate that it's not everyone's choice, I'll give you bonus points for sticking it through. The past 2 weeks I've been working on "The Diviners" by Margaret Laurence... hoping to finish this week so I can squeeze in "A Month In The Country". I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Go Set A Watchman

Awwww Henry!❤❤❤❤ I'm not for Interview with the Vampire either .... which is what makes "them" scary. (Although I never knew there was supposed to be such s e x u a l overtones. I just thought they were scary until I saw someone review the book.... and in read the OG Dracula. I apparently only knew the kid's version of a vampire.😂)

@@RoadReads I've heard The Warden is the least favorite but that it pays to read it because all the books come together in the last book. I have The Warden but have so many books to read before that one. I listened to Steve Donoghue's book tube video about not subvocalizing and I probably need to do that because I'm very slow considering how many books I want to read. I even like to read aloud too.
@RoadReads4 ай бұрын
The Warden is quite good. And short. Especially for Trollope. 😃

I haven't found a lot of people on Booktube who read history. I have a US history project going on. I'm curious what else you've read on that topic?
@RoadReads4 ай бұрын
What part of US history is your project on? Or is US history in general? :) I focused a lot of the revolution and founding of our country. It all started with David McCullough's "John Adams". Once I read that I wanted to know more about Adams, Jefferson, Washington, Hamilton, Madison, etc. So lots of books on all of them. But I also went through a big Theodore Roosevelt period. Also books on Lincoln, FDR, etc. If you want specific titles let me know. And ages ago I did a video on history books that read like fiction. :)

@@RoadReads In January I started with the colonial period. My plan is to take years to go from there to the present, although I'm also skipping around sometimes. I like the 18th century as well. Did you hear that Lindsay Chervinsky just came out with a book about John Adams's presidency? I'm halfway through and it's really good. Rush by Stephen Fried is also really good.

I have the Fried book on Rush but haven’t read it yet. And thank you for the heads up on the Adams book!
