Reading Spark Plugs|Turbo LS|E85|TOO MUCH TIMING?!?!?

I usually will pull over somewhere Put a new plug on cylinder #8 or #7 make a nice long rip then pull over right away, swap the new plug for a old one then that will give a way clearer look at where the timing is on the strap.

You cannot accurately read a spark plug that has runtime on it. You must install a new plug, make a full pull, shut off, then pull the plug and read it then....idle time, drive time, both pretty much negate ANY ability to read the plug.

Damn I'm at 29 degrees at 0psi and don't pull anything until 6psi and thought it's conserative.

I see your name is BBC nova, So if your running a big block or small black id say that still fairly conservative. These little LS motors dont like a lot of timing.

@@bbcnova56 pull the plug and see what it says Stock bottom end typically you want to keep that timing low through the Torque range I can help you out

Yea by knock sensors if your running them, but it’s gm knock sensors at the end of the day. It feels crisp and clean in the car. There is not better tuning then what the plug says. I’ve seen a lot worse

Individual egts would be good to but I obviously don’t have those lol But is possible. AFRs are on the money but it’s all in the plug

Spark plug is the only witness to combustion no matter what…..egt sensors can go bad read wrong ,wideband goes bad and reads wrong..the SPARK PLUG NEVER LIES😎😎💪👍

E85 doesn’t knock , unless lean . You can get preignition though .

True, but he used a really crappy camera to do a video that needed a high quality image. His plug straps are fuzzy, mine aren't. He never mentions the fuzz level. 😁

Not a expert but if you are looking at plugs for detenation ya might want to go back to the 1960s. You have a LS in there. It has knock sensors stock. Data log that.
