WOW! These are invaluable, especially for a new player like myself. The time and attention to detail Padraig gives us all is phenomenal. Personally, I’d love to see something on different shots 150 and in that are above and below your feet and on a tight lie or deep in the rough and how you’d play them and what club choices to consider. I’m in Texas and I play in a lot of wind which can wreak havoc on those approach shots sometimes. Loved this tip and I’m saving it and will definitely implement this into my practice routine when I’m doing my putting practice. Thank you 🙏

You Sir are the best. putts with subtle breaks are the hardest to me. Big swingers are obvious and require attention but sometimes the ones that you'd bet are straight will break a cup one way or the other and you just cant see it....I guess experience at that particular course or hole solves some of that but its the most frustrating part of golf to me. Bust your butt to become a ball striking ACE and cant putt, lol.

Great video, Paddy! Elaborating on the Aimpoint method, what he was describing is called Aimpoint Express, and it’s a solid method to read greens. The one-paragraph summary of the method: Get yourself a 12” digital level (or the free Clinometer app on iPhone, but make sure the case has a flat back), and make sure it reads in PERCENT slope (not degrees like Paddy said). Train your feet to feel level through 5% slope in 1 percent increments (it’s easier than you think). Then standing at your ball, hold up the number of fingers together starting at center cup, and your aimpoint is the other side of your fingers. Change the bend in your elbow to adjust for green speed or up/down slope (arm straighter for slower greens or uphill putts). Taking an Aimpoint Express class is highly recommended to learn all the nuances, but it can transform your green reading skills and can be done in seconds without walking around the cup.

Respect your playing partners and don't waste time as amateur golfer with aimpoint unless ya elite scratch or better. Also walking on someone else's line half the time, again shows lack of respect. Any non elite golfer better to focus on pace and quality of strike anyway.

Just watch how you elaborate green reading is valuable and inspiring already! This’s very useful for amateur golfers with four or more members in a gang with balls in locations around the green and frustrated following gang waiting for their turn, i.e. there’s not much time allowed for delicate green reading like tour pros. Thanks a lot PH. By the way, you just use your feel and not on other techniques like plumb bob, do you?

Thx Paddy. Insightful yet simple. Future tip suggestion. I’ve been playing courses where the bunkers r inconsistent. Some have more sand, some r thin on sand. How do U play green side bunkers that don’t have a lot of sand, or have compacted sand - I open the face and find my club bouncing off harder surface vs sliding h def the ball in these situations.
@Pfessor_Moriarty
@Pfessor_Moriarty 3 жыл бұрын
The more compact the sand the more of a V shape swing you need so has to punch or cut into the hard surface. As opposed to lighter sand where you slide the face under, usually works for me. You might want to be slightly more aggressive with swing speed too to enable you power into the hard sand.
