In the US, even when 2 people are married, the medical records of the patient cannot be released to their partner without the permission of the patient. They are very strict about this.

That’s what I thought - and that’s pretty much why I got so upset about that part of Sleep Tight. It was extremely unrealistic and way too convenient.
