Those rabbits were storing up for a few hours of gushing rain. I couldn’t believe my eyes twice so far, watching the “gushing” rain we had. My friends husband said we got 3 inches of rain that early morning I saw it. Gushing rain!!

Yes, absolutely watch the animals. Trees and other plants also give clues as to the harshness or mildness of upcoming seasons. Cloud types are good indicators of possible weather to come (i.e. some clouds you just KNOW will bring hail with them). And, don't forget your sense of smell . . . you can literally smell a storm coming.

Another good topic. I had a lab that I used to take to a large park because I could let her go and run in the fields. There were times when the hair on her back would raise as we passed someone she was not comfortable with. I always felt the same. One day I was going to turn up a path into the woods and all the hair on my arms stood up. I looked down at my dog and the hair on her back was up. We both were being told, don't go that way. Animals are intuitive. I always pay attention.

Two adult owls flew over our patio last evening. I've never seen this before. We hear them every night in the woods behind our house but never visible during the day.

I had an owl land in the tree I was hunting in once. We were eye to eye. It was a cool experience.

Even fish. If you have a stocked pond. Sudden feeding frenzy usually indicates a major change in barometric pressure/weather. I have even heard the best time to fish is when a tornado is bearing down on you. However, I haven't tried that one!

I keep my dogs inside. 1. year, they put on their heavy winter coat in late September & early October. I told people it's going to be a hard winter. No 1 believed me at 1st, but we had several feet of snow several times that year & lots of ice storms.

here we watch the seagulls , they come off the lake ' s shores and lakes to the parking lots ... usually means a high wind rain storms are coming . The other is our crows the rest deep in the trees not out on the outer branches if heavy rains or storm is coming. My dogs bark if humans come around at night on the property .... but growl when fox coyotes, bears and other animals are around... another great subject brother thanks

Watching the plants and insect behavior, too. The dandelions have been stumpy this year, that usually happens as fall is coming, not all summer. We're also getting solid brown wooly bears, a lady from TN is getting the same. Let's see if winter will be milder. Before last winter, they were mainly black and December and January we got hit with a bad polar vortex

We had beautiful dandelions for May, now nothing-not a single one. However, the wasps and yellow jackets have been absolutely horrific this year. A lot more nests than usual, they are more aggressive than in the past. We already have leaves falling in Kentucky and it’s supposed to be another heat dome next week!

I agree with you! I am always paying strict attention to the animals where I live. The birds, rabbits, the deer, even the insects. Also very true about animals or pets being alert to something not right about earthquakes! I actually experienced that. We had a very very small earthquake or the earthquake hit far away from us but we felt a little tremor! But for about 24 hours before that little tremor was felt, my two little dogs went so opposite of their normal behavior. I couldn't believe how they were behaving, open the door for them to go out as they seemed to want outside, then they wouldn't go out! As if they were afraid of what was outside, not usual behavior for them at all! And just before the tremor happened, both dogs went in and got on the bed with my son that was napping. They had never gotten on his bed before, and they were determined they weren't getting off his bed, as I was trying to get them too so they wouldn't wake him, and I got growled at by one of the dogs! Never had either dog ever growled at anyone of us before. It was just really odd behavior for them. After the tremor we understood why the dogs acted so out of character for them. And they never have behaved that way since!

I'm in West TN. Many years ago, they had a quake around New Madrid that was centered near St. Louis. It was a 5.2 I think. For us, that's big because of the liquafaction being so close to the Mississippi River. You feel it way more. It happened around 4am. I didn't feel it. What woke me up was both the cat and the dog were on top of me when I woke up just staring at me like DO SOMETHING. LOL At the moment, I had no idea what had happened until a couple hours later when someone text me and asked did I feel it. I told her No, but, the fur babies sure did. LOL Our new pup (He's 5 now since our dynamic duo has passed.) is so nervous anyway. It would be hard to tell. He's half dachshund, half jack russell.

Agreed. However, we all live in an EMF soup. This affects animals as well, mostly the ones that live in our homes. Bees are especially sensitive to emf's.

i've been watching the deer movements this year and they have been squirrely. movement at the wrong time of day, just consistently all day long, i can find 3-4 grazing the soybeans. its just felt off, like a bad winter coming . the seasonal black birds and starlings seem to be here early in central ohio. you have the same thing with plants. you get that feeling you should be harvesting or planting early. when maple buds start to swell. it means conditions for a ice storm are right. then you get that odd vehichle that sounds wrong for the neighborhood. you go to the window to see who it is. or you smell a car exhaust but dont see a car. your looking for a intruder. cows standing on a fence line. i'm looking to see a deer or coyote or deer hunter.

Good info. Hey, MR...the adult deer in our part of MN seem to have a more reddish color to their coats this year instead of the more tan that we usually see. Similar to the reddish color of a fawn (but without the spots). Do you have any wisdom or lore about this?

The only thing that I have heard is the darker their coats, the harsher the winter.

@@ModernRefugee oh my...the whitetail deer coats are dark reddish, like a sorrel horse. I will make sure we have plenty of groceries, hay, and firewood!

My pear trees are a month early for ripening. We have seen some very small noisy black birds migrating south already. They are at least a month early. My chickens are starting to molt even though the days aren't that short. We have seen squirrels gathering walnuts that are already falling. It has been a crazy summer of hot and cold weather here in Indiana. We are watching things closely too.

​@sadie21962 before the polar vortex a couple winters ago in IN, my daughter sent me a pic of a squirrel that was so fat, it had no neck. Couple weeks after, I had a raccoon on my deck that was so fat, you could barely see it's back legs while walking away.

Crows went crazy when a fox took a duck. Was able to chase down the struggling duck, mortally injured, unfortunately. But it died with me and was not a fox meal. Took precautions for the other birds.

Deer at my place have become to tame , I can hand feed a few now , and they come right to the fence , 4 feet away to graze on grass , with 4 huge dogs barking at them , and they don’t flinch , they know the dogs can’t get out , I can hunt with a sharp spoon or club , I don’t let friends hunt my property anymore ,

Watching the position the Sun Rise occurs? It told me this year, for certain? We ARE Advanced IN Season by 2 Weeks. Ithought so in Spring but wasnt not Absolutrly positive. But when Summer came? I HAD Positive Proof! 2 Weeks BEFORE our Usual Season Equinox! Tracking Sun Position matters too! I was suspicious about this for 2 Years now. This year i have seen SO many seeming to take note! I just grin in response! They were "taking chances of planting early", because the weather Changed. So by Default? They ARE Noticing, but no idea WHY this IS Important! Nor, How To Detrrmine The Change! It HAS Changed! So Planting IS Early. But so IS Harvest and Frosts! ALL Seasons Moved Up by 2 Weeks! Pretty sure it has been a Gradual Change, as no one has mentioned blacking out for 2 Weeks! But days have seemed to Pass By Faster, for quite a while! Or Official Authorities have NOT Declared the Change! But it doesnt matter IF YOU Pay Attention! IF you plan on Harvests by Old Dates? You could end up losing your Crops! It matters! **How did i Detect for Certainty? Believe it or not? It is all because of my pool! Honest! Only ONE Season i get enough Sunshine ON IT, TO warm the water. Summer. The trees block the Sun too much. Only Summer makes sun to prevent my sleeping IN my North bedroom window. Exactly 2 weeks in Advance? This became True! Years ago Farmers Watched FOR these Signs, to Ensure a good crop! We have stopped Watching and Believe Authorities instead!
