I used to work at a shop for tractor trailers. We wanted to extend the frame on a truck and we decided to take a double framed rear end and knock the outside frame off of it. (If you know what I'm talking about it'll make sense, hard to describe) When you take two steel frames and put them together and send them north, you end up with what looks like HUNDREDS of layers of rust, and they are all packed into a space the size of maybe a penny. Took 2 days with a 15 pound sledgehammer, air hammer, and a torch at the end of the day, plus about 10 bottles of PB blaster. God I love Pennsylvania rust

Laying in bed, ready to sleep, and I get the notification... Now the question is do I leave this for tomorrow afternoon when I get home after work, or do I watch now and deal with the consequences when I have to wake up 6 hours from now? Screw it. I'm watching! Edit: Well worth the watch. Thanks bro. Seeing that fuel tank made me think back to the first time I had to service a fuel injection car, and couldn't find the fuel filter. Eventually had the rear seats out and the tank open, only to Google and find out it's behind the right rear wheel 😂. I was fairly pissed at myself, but that's the way it goes.

Greetings from northern Wisconsin. Ive had gas tanks held up with ratchets, Ive had a control arm rust so much it literally snapped in half while driving it- I got some square stock and welded up a new control arm from scratch. Had sway bars rust apart. Had hole rist through the floor so big you can stick half your leg trough it.

Cab mounts rusted through on both sides so the cab WAS sitting up against the bed until i jacked up the cab took the bushings out and put a piece of a 2x4 in place.... 255,000 miles and she still runs great 🤙🤘

I live in Michigan so I hear your pain on rust. Had a 72 Camaro when I was a kid I was driving down the highway and the car just shut off . Took me and a friend 1/2 hour to figure it out at first we thought it was out of gas after about a gallon of gas we see a puddle on the ground. Looked under and guess what no gas tank ,it was about 34 mile up the road in the ditch. This was a 2am after meeting some chicks.

Craziest rust story I have is while driving home from work here in Florida, I saw the perfect outline of a truck in rust particles on the ground at a traffic light. I love the channel obviously want more of the escalade. I'm from rhode island so salt all winter long. 2 years ago my fuel tank straps broke and yes I used a ratchet strap for 2 weeks because that same tab with the captures but broke and spun. Got it all fixed and then a month ago the actual mounting point rotted off the frame. I made and welded in a new bracket. Im also less than 300 miles away from 200k miles.

I live in Indiana. My '02 Silverado is a total rust bucket. The frame rusted in half above the rear axle on both sides. Jacked it up, welded some plate in, and drove it for another year. Then the crossmember that the rear shocks bolt to rusted off. Grabbed the sawzall and cut em off. The fuel pump went out and the bed bolts were too rusty so used the angle grinder and cut an access hole in the bed. The gas tank straps rusted off so i used those orange harbor freight straps to hold it up. The only things keeping the frame rails parallel is the trans crossmember and the front K-member lol

FTP Fuel tank pressure sensor. Mostly for EVAP emissions but could possibly used for some weird input for performance use. Those j-nuts break on Texas trucks too. Most dealers keep them for that reason. Use a metal pipe reducer on your fill pipe. Prolly have to make it.

8 miles SW of downtown Pittsburgh here. My dad had an 01 grand Cherokee from when I was in 6th grade (04-05) until he gave it to me in 2013 with 196k on it because they wouldn’t give him anything for a trade. By 2011 when I was 18 had rust holes through the frame/rockers big enough for my fist to fit through still passed inspection. Transmission blew up the day he gave it to me coming home from PNC Park, girlfriend at the time was not impressed with my new car.

4 terminals on that sender(besides the FTPS) 2 for the pump 2 for the level sensor, next time you can ohm out your level sensor. Lift that float with the meter on and compare "empty and full". Long time gm tech from new england and rust is a night mare here. We always joke about how easy it is working on southern cars and out west. Nothing like putting all new fuel and brake lines on a 5 year old truck!

That sensor on the sending unit is a fuel tank pressure sensor, it monitors vac/pressure for evap. With the key on and gas cap off it should read 0" vacuum. Your vent valve connected to the charcoal canister opens to fill the tank so it doesn't shut off the pump nozzle and the purge valve in the intake is pulse width modulated to pull a vacuum in the tank and burn up fumes. If the pressure sensor is reading wrong your purge valve could possibly stay on pulling too much vacuum in the tank and add too much fuel vapor causing a ruff running condition. uu
