I will answer all their questions :) 1-In my opinion Chinese share similar features but they don't look the same way, however Chinese aren't as mixed as we are in Latin America. so I can often distinguish chinese but it's sometimes hard. 2- Huh, I don't do anything it depends on the couple 3- I don't celebrate Qixi or even Valentine's day 4- Flowers, chocolates, cakes. 5- I study Chinese because I love Chinese culture, language, history and Chinese historical dramas, also I want to read Chinese literature, but I have a lot of work on :( well Chinese is indeed difficult, but as long as you keep focused on your goals, you will always remain motivated. I enjoyed a lot this interview I could understand a lot! make more videos like this.

From a Thai pengyou...(answering questions) 1. Because i'm also Asian. I can kind of tell the differences between far east, southeastern, south Asians...with 70% accuracy. Although some people are hard to tell because of the mixed races these days. 2. Totally depends on the person. Some people don't give much importance. Some go out with friends (if single). Some buy presents, date, have nice meals. Students in schools or colleagues at work may put heart stickers on your shirt as a sign of affection in Thailand. Not a norm, but I've seen it done more and more now. 3. I think Qixi is exclusively for Chinese. We don't have a different version of Valentine's Day...just Feb 14. And again, the presents are totally depending on the couples. Most people will just give flowers (which becomes extremely expensive on that day), chocolate, or nice meals. Some dedicated couples may also give some handmade presents with pictures of them together or any keepsakes that bring good memories as a couple. 4. Because I want to understand what XiaoZhan and Yibo say in their interviews and I want to understand it first-hand. It's difficult, but I'm determined. haha.

So good! So original and spontaneous. The kids were awsome. The guy who changed his version was hilarious. Chinese friends, please note that St. Valentine is an old catholic festival which was revived lately by salespersons for obvious commercial reasons just as the old irish pagan festival of Halloween. Millions of people have no idea what it is in the "west". Millions as well have hardly heard of St. Valentine and don't relate to it at all. To me individual Asians are all different even if I generaly do not differentiate the appearance of nationals. Chinese is not so difficult and so widely spoken, its a challenge. Like & subscribe for the quality.

I love learning Mandarin so far. I have been studying for one year now. I think it is probably easier for an English speaker to learn Mandarin, than it is for a Mandarin speaker to learn English. Because English is influenced by many different languages and has exceptions to many “rules.” I celebrate Valentine’s Day with my husband by going out to eat a nice dinner. We exchange “Valentines cards,” which are greeting cards with loving sentiments. Sometimes we have a family party. I also give a card to my son along with some candy. Sometimes my husband gives me flowers and chocolate. I subscribed!

Thank you so much for this channel! I don't know why I didn't go looking for you sooner. Mandarin is actually first first language (I learned to speak it first). In fact, I remember clearly that I came home from my first day of kindergarten in tears because the other kids could not understand me. And yet, because I don't live in China, my Chinese vocabulary is limited to common everyday speech like, "take out the garbage", "weed the lawn" or "wash the dishes". 😅 But your channel lets me drill vocabulary while seeing the written words. I do kind of wish you used the traditional characters since those are the ones my mom taught me when I was little, but I suppose over time I'll get used to the simplified ones.

to answer the last question, well I was told chinese is hard so I just decided to learn it after trying out a random free trial on the internet. To my surprise the language for me was super interesting especially since it had tones, sth completely new to me. After the trial ended I resorted to free resources and used this other comprehensive textbook, so the journey so far has been amazing but limitations are of course not having someone to practice with, the weeks that go by without learning. But it isn't that bad tbh, but this is subjective lol. I suggest whoever wants to learn just dive in and see what happens, do not be intimidated.
Very nice...past two decades we people (India) know about Valentines day on February 14th. In China I know about singles day but this is first time I'm hearing about Qixi day on August 7th....

At 4:32, I didn't understand 重色轻友. I had to look it up. I think in this context 色 means "lust" or "sex" (rather than "colour"). So the whole expression means something like "heavy on lust, light on friendship". In other words "paying more attention to one's lover than to one's friends".
@basantnaser80735 жыл бұрын
You're correct. I also didn't understand it and had to look it up, it means just that.
@EverydayChinese5 жыл бұрын
@@basantnaser8073 重色轻友 means to pay more attention to a lover than friends (idiom) / to value sex over friendship. Here we translated it into hiberdating which means someone who ignores all their other friends when they are dating a boyfriend/girlfriend.
@mountaintag5 жыл бұрын
@@EverydayChinese I like the word "hiberdating". But honestly, I have never heard it used. I think it's a play on the word "hibernating", which means to withdraw from others to sleep through the winter. By changing the "n" to a "d", we introduce the word "dating". So, according to some sources, "hiberdating" means to withdraw from all others except for one's dating partner. According to other sources, it means to take a rest from dating for a while. According to me, there is no such word. But I like it. :-)
