Yo, its called drawn to life, because the kid was brought back from a coma, or rather, drawn to the idea of living. Its like the play on words used in the first game's end song. Epic, but sad, foreshadowing
@thatoneclonetrooper56632 жыл бұрын
This series is the only one (that I can think of) that pulled the "it was a coma" cliche and did it well. I don't know how to put it, but the way the game showed that the characters, the story, everything, was nothing but the figment of a comatose boy's imagination didn't feel insulting. Heck, it made the story hit harder somehow.

Wilfre represented the coma and is Lucifer. The Creator is the God of Christianity. The color vanishing represented Mike's mind dying slowly because of the coma. Mari and Jowee were those dolls. Heather's shadowy side of her face represented the real Heather's face being half-way torn off. Salem and Sock were mere representations of illusions of the coma, being Wilfre's disguises. Rose could have possibly been Mike's mother trying to communicate with him spiritually. She was saying she was dead, which translated to Rose nearly dying. Wilfre killing the Mayor represented the crash, Wilfre being the driver that crashed the car into Mike and his family's car (the Mayor.) Heather was praying to God to save her brother. This is a possible representation of all the missions we have to do in the games. You see: I believe Mike still was able to witness what was surrounding him for example: The officer (seen in the pictures when Mike wakes up) represents Cricket, the cop in the Raposa Village. Zsasha possibly foreshadows someone in real life we'll never see, perhaps whoever will adopt Mike and Heather. How do I know this? He takes in the little rapo you rescue in Twilight Forest along with him and acts as a caretaker for that child. *B O O M* I just figured out the lore of the Drawn to Life franchise.
@everyonedeservesa2ndchance6 жыл бұрын
Despite Mike existing within the Raposa World, I always thought the creator was Mike (since the Raposa world was all his dream that HE created.) If this is true, does that mean we (the player and creator) are actually Mike?

I played these games in junior high and they’re still two of the best stories I’ve ever experienced. This series had no business being so deep and profound. Who deserves to live more an entire town of real people with real hopes and dreams and loved ones or a small boy who just lost his parents and is the only thing his older sister has left in her life? That morale question came out of nowhere and still hits just as hard for me today as it did almost two decades ago.

This series had such a powerful, poetic ending. The villain is sympathetic in that he's fighting to prevent the end of the world, but only so he can continue existing at the expense of another. However this does not absolve you of the moral quandry you face, yourself. If He wakes, then this world that you've come to love and adore as it's protector and all your friends within it will vanish forever. But if you want this world you love to continue, then you're condemning Him to his fate and likely only prolonging the inevitable. It's a powerful, painful lesson that no matter how hard you try to fight against it, all good things must come to an end, and whether you accept it, or refuse to face it, is entirely on your shoulders. And then the Switch game ruined it.

god i hated this ending. Not because it's a bad ending, but because it makes me SO DAMN SAD! Jesus christ, all the characters you've come to love and care for all die and it turns out they were never alive in the first place and didn't even exist and that the damn villain was trying to save everyone and you just killed him by your own hands. Turns out then, he's a fucking orphan and his sister has a two-face kinda thing going on which i can't imagine can be pleasant, and at the very end, those fucking dolls... all played to the saddest fucking music.

I was pissed that Mari and Jowee wasn't going to get together. That's what made me bummed the most.
@Guimaster1275 жыл бұрын
No, the villain was NOT trying to save everyone. Everything in the game is a metaphor. The villain is the personification of Mike's injuries, and its goal was to "remove all color from the world", which is a metaphor for Mike's brain dying. By killing the villain, you save Mike's life, and his memories of Raposa World will remain forever in his mind. This is probably one of the best endings in video game history.

I'll have to shout it out loud; All of the things I couldn't live without. And I'm pouring my heart, and I'm spilling my soul. And I'm taking a breath, and he's giving his all. And I wanna walk out from the trouble I'm in. 'Cause I'm really not sure where to begin... And if faking it will make it better; Better than it was before. And lies could bring us close together. Wish you were here, 'cause we've got to talk. I can't keep it inside. I have to shout it out loud; All of the things I couldn't live without. And I'm pouring my heart, and I'm spilling my soul. And I'm gasping for air 'cause he's given it all. He wants to wake up from the dream he's been in. And start it all over so we can relive... Faking it will make it better; Better than it was before. And lies could bring us close together. So I won't be lonely no more. Pretending it doesn't matter. Could help me pass the time. Make-believe, he'll hide forever. This is real life. It's time to see. Well, he's taking the steps and he's making a stand. He's pulling down walls and doing all that he can. He's through with black and white. And drawing the lines. Between make believe and real life. (I'm just trying to survive) This is real life. (Every day and night in real life) This is real life. (Taking one step at a time) Ohh oh. (Make believing...) The song really makes it. I had a problem with the whole "It was all a dream from some kid in a coma" ending, seeing as it basically invalidates everything you, as the creator, has ever done for this world, but it's not like it comes out of nowhere. It was foreshadowed a bit. I probably would have dismissed it as a generic cop-out ending if not for the song making me think harder about it.

When I was a kid and got the original car crash ending (which is much better than the tree ending they added on later) I did cry, but I wasn't scarred for life. I hear a lot of people saying "Wilfre was right" or "I hated the ending because all the raposa died", and while what happened was sad, it's been confirmed they still exist in Mike's mind and he sees them when he sleeps. But before we knew that, I did understand that it wouldn't be fair to Mike to keep him in the coma, he was still a kid after all and he had a life to live. I accepted that ending, and I knew that beings born from fantasy never truly *died*. So while it was bittersweet for me, I knew this was the best possible scenario. And the story being about the strife of a family getting through a tragedy like a car crash makes it all the more touching. I don't know if the new game will honor the car crash ending or the tree ending. Honestly? I hope they don't specify and just allude to it to leave it open-ended enough for the fans to imagine. After all, in the car crash ending they never actually SHOW the parents dead, it's left ambiguous. It's just a lot of people assume the worse because of that shot with the two hands (which I believe are Heather and Mike's). So, I don't know! I'm just excited we'll be getting more of this amazing series!

One of those hands has a marriage ring on it, so it was likely the parents in that shot.

Oh crikey... just dug this game out after so many years, still got my original character too... ('Colour man'- just a guy with every colour on him) I almost forgot how much Wilfre was one of my favourite villains in games, without doubt- because of his reasoning. He didn't want the world to end, even if Mike had to suffer... Beat the final boss, then watched the last cutscene... that scene is one (And still only one) of the only scenes in gaming history that's made me break down into hysterical sobbing... Still hoping and dreaming for an official DTL 3... (Havent played this game since I was about eight/nine... starting to get back into it)

I recently re played this game cause i was feeling nostalgic and now that I understand the ending it makes me think. Do you think Wilfre's actions were justified? What makes Mike's life more valuable than the thousands of Raposa? Some people would say "Cause Mike is real" but what is "Real"? Think about all of us. What if we are all just the figment of imagination in someone's coma? Would you still want to save them over all of us cause they are "real"? Wilfre only did all this stuff cause he did not want Mike to wake up. If you were a Raposa would you think the same way?
@yukimura45747 жыл бұрын
I only going to say: What do you think that it would have happened if Mike had not woken up the comma? "The raposa and their world would still be alive" that's what you thing, right? You're mayby right, but for how long? If Mike never had waked from the coma, one day he will die, and the raposa world will go whit him. the raposa world it's a dream, but also, it's a representation of Mike's feelings. Wilfre is the part of Mike who wants forget that accident and live in an imaginary world forever, and the rapos (at the end) represent the part of Mike who knows he must front facing the true, he lost his parents, and his sister is suffering for him. That's why the game ends like this, the raposa are not only part of the dream, their're a part of mike, they represent a psychological fight in his head. The rapos feel what Mike feel what is worse for you, lose an imaginary world, or lose a real person in your life?
@calumari997 жыл бұрын
Well I do agree with you on some things but imagine this happening to you. Imagine finding out that you and all of your friends and family are just a part of a child's head and that child is in a coma and that is the only reason you have been existing for so long. Would you still think "He is real so I should help him" or would you do what Wilfre did. Question reality and the value of lives. Or would you do something else? This game is so interesting once you know what the ending really means so I wanna know what people would do if this scenario was real.

"You make the things that you can't touch." I just think about that line sometimes. How willful ignorance and refusal of the truth can trap you in your own mind, and leave you living in a world that's better than reality, but less important. The only way through trauma is acceptance. You must hurt to grow.
