Interesting trivia Rick. I never noticed this, and I've seen all episodes a zillion times. As another poster pointed out her hair looks different (in the scenes right before she is doused with water, honey, etc). Looks like it could possibly be a wig to avoid the messiness of the honey in her real hair.

@@Robert08010 To me it looked too straight as opposed to her normal permanent do. I understand getting wet could do this, but you don't even see a bit of a wave, just too straight. That's why I think it was a wig.

I actually have always noticed when she’s not wearing her lashes, but didn’t realize something was about to happen. The Hawaiian episode to me looks like looks like she’s also wearing a wig before all that stuff gets thrown on her. Thanks for the video.

I’ve been a fan since I was little in the 50s. I grew up acting like Lucy Ricardo because she was my role model but until modern times I never noticed the eyelash deal. Another one would be the grape stomping episode. Love your videos ❤️

I never noticed this before! It's no surprise that celebrities wore a lot of makeup, including fake eyelashes, but in looking at the photos of Lucy with and without the lashes, I like her better without them. She was a housewife, after all, and housewives in the 50s didn't wear much more than a bit of lipstick. (I was a child in the 50s and 60s, and my own housewife mom and grandma only owned powder and lipstick -- never anything as "glamorous" as fake lashes!) Interesting bit of trivia -- thanks, Rick!

Interesting observation too An obvious one in Three’s Company is the bathroom door when Jack got drunk and thought he sept with Janet, the bathroom door is different cause at the end of the episode Jack is going to fall thru it. Hi, Rick! I didn't know Lucy wore fake eyelashes 👁️, but I'm not surprised: fake lashes really make your eyes 👀 pop and Lucy's were no exception. I also didn't know that she removed (or didn't have them on to begin with) them prior to the scene where she'd get sprayed with water 💦 or something. But, again, I'm not surprised: Lucy was a professional and she knew that they could come off and it would look like a bug 🪲🐞 was on her face‼️ Interesting ❤️‼️

Fun video, Rick! I think Lucy may have also had her eyelashes off during a segment of either Breaking the Lease or Little Ricky Learns to Play the Drums, when Fred had turned the water off to the Ricardos' apartment and Ricky goes to turn it back on. Lucy Ricardo had been washing her face and was trying to not get soap in her eyes, and when Ricky turns the water back on, she suddenly gets drenched with water while reaching for a towel by the shower. She still doesn't have her eyelashes on in a subsequent scene when Lucy, Ricky, and the Mertzes are in the Mertzes' apartment apologizing to each other.

I have ALWAYS noticed that her eyes looked less 'glamorized' and that whenever she would get [splashed or whatever] that her face would look different. I always just assumed it was because her make up would get ruined and that naturally she would look disheveled, but I did NOT know that her eyelashes would be removed ahead of time so thanks for that insight - Lucy wore plenty of stage make up both on I Love Lucy and the shows that followed -

The TV's we had back in the 70's weren't the best quality so details were usually lost in the static, the stereotypical black and white with rabbit ears until we got a color TV. Even then my attention span was sketchy.

Yes, I knew about that and she also didn't wear them on the movie The Long, Long Trailer especially in the scenes inside the trailer. And you will notice that she took them off for the lake scenes in Forever Darling.

If you do not know who Hedda Hopper was, then you missed the main comedy point of the episode. Thank you for pointing out the eyelashes. I never ever noticed the difference on Lucille Ball because I was just in the episode enjoying it and enjoying the comedic talent of the ensemble and the plot.
