*****Question, please***** First, THANK YOU!!! Wonderful report. I am guessing there are two economies, yes? The economy in the big cities and the economy in the countryside. My question is this --- what percentage of Ukrainian women work outside the home? OR to put another way, what percentage of Ukrainian women work in the home taking care of the family? Being a Home-maker and raising ones children is a noble and much needed service and in the West (USA in particular) women are brainwashed into believing they must send their children to be raised by low paid strangers, so they can be "career women." Thank you for your time and efforts.

@Olga Reznikova I love your video's! But in this video I have to disagree a little😅. It's realy dependant of which region and city. Most of the people I know are under 450$ per month. I do know a lot of people because I spend many months per year in Ukraine. Mainly lviv and Vinnitsya. Employers will have bigger salaries employees not so much. In big cities base salaries are higher than for example Vinnitsya smaller city but cost of living is much higher to. But I find that is the most cases salaries average around 450$ give or take. That's my personal experience of all the people I know in different regions and cities. Odessa for example in summer season they average to 1500$ but out of the season drop to around 400$. Anyway..like I said my thoughts and experience.

The value of those websites are also overrated. If you look at the spread of the wage between 700 and 4800. That does not say anything. What you need is what does a graduate earn, what does someone earn with 5, 10, etc. experience, and is it a Ukrainian or an international company (detached foreign workers, who mostly get an equivalent of their wage from their home countries). The wages of those "detached foreign workers" need to be filtered out as they are "false data" in the dataset.
@Olga_Reznikova3 жыл бұрын
I would say that salary is very very variable number, and it can not be counted as 5 years experience or 20 years experiecne. YOu can have person which all his life works in one job and his salary is almost minimal, and at the same time another person with 5 year experience works for company which has foreign orders and his salary can be couple of thousands dollars.
@MyReiners3 жыл бұрын
@@Olga_Reznikova working for 20 years is not the same as 20 years experience. You have to look what has the person done in those 20 years. The same for someone with 5 years. I see people who say I have 10 years experience in a lot of companies (more than 5), for me that is a red flag. General speaking that person is out in 2 years on average. A lot of companies make that mistake as projects are long time projects. I also do not see why you would pay someone more because you have international contracts? You know that your potential future local competitors have lower wages. In the next contract, you are at a disadvantage for the bidding because a local company could get that contract as it has lower wages and is more competitive. The reason that you have the contract is that you are cheaper than the rest or that you have a very high quality (which is technology-based, which is mostly foreign-based (for which you have less control). A company that has a lot of focus on the international market, but has no high stake in the local market is also a red flag. If your wages increase, then you need to be cost-effective in other areas. However, that is more difficult to achieve. If the median wage is 800 (in the country) you could say I could increase to max 1200, but it makes no sense to pay more than 2000. Also for the worker is has a risk. If you have a wage of 3000, you would probably have the lifestyle of that wage. If you lose your job, there is a high chance you have to take a job that pays less.

@MyReiners3 жыл бұрын
@@ahmediftikhar3008 1) Ukraine is not an EU country, as such is not just a trip. You cannot migrate as a worker like in countries in the EU (Worker migration very restricted). 2) Language barrier. A lot of people come to the EU and think they can find a job because they speak English. Most jobs in the EU require the local language (which can be German, Dutch, French, Danish, etc. 3) Non-EU degrees are not recognized automatically as equal with EU. You have a Ukrainian degree as a doctor, you are not automatically a doctor in the EU. The last part is also much dependent on the kind of degree. A master degree in IT is more easily accredited than a medical degree or a law degree

Public servants only get the advertised salary. How much you are paid depends on where you work. A friend works for Ukrposhta as a manager of a small department in Nikolaev. She earns 5600uah per month after tax. Ukrposhta would pay her more if she was doing this job in Kiev. This is only $USD200 per month. She survives by living in her grandmother's home (no rent), by shelling walnuts and selling the nut flesh, by growing half her vegetables in her own garden, by collecting eggs from her mother's half hectare plot in a nearby village, by selling potatoes and eggs, making her own blood sausages, wine, and brandy. She somehow cares for her 86 year old grandmother, two little girls, maintain and renovate her grandfather's home built from rocks, sand from the Ingul river, and lime, and left over building material during Soviet times. Her husband? Well, he decided to get a girlfriend when she was pregnant. And went back to his mother. This is how people survive on such small salaries - anyway they can!
@Olga_Reznikova3 жыл бұрын
The salary your friend is getting is a min salary in Ukraine at all. Ukrposhta is governmental post office, I guess in any country such employees have the smallest salary. If she do not want to have min salary, she has no problem to go and find better job (go to work at least for for Nova poshta, which is private post company and their salary started from 10 000 uah for the operator and department manager gets something like 18000uah in Nikolaev. Check job offers in Nikolaev on the same website I mentioned and you will find hundreds proposals with salary 10 000 uah + Why she keep working for 5600 uah? Well, I believe she is fine with that and this is her choice.
@davidlecomte68933 жыл бұрын
@@Olga_Reznikova She used to work as an accountant for a local Mykolaiv firm, but she got pregnant and when she was getting near term, she asked for some unpaid leave. That was, though, in February 2014. Her child was born in April 2014, and shortly after that the company went broke - as did many others in Mykolaiv that year. I am sure you remember that disastrous year for Ukraine. In the September of 2013, the cafes and shops of Odessa, Nikolaev, and Kherson were all "abustle", but in 2014, Derybasovskaya St, in Odessa was like a ghost town - shops and restaurants boarded up - and the prostitutes from Bunina st had moved to Derybasovskaya, because every bar, and every cafe on Bunina had closed. Nikolaev and Kherson were hit even harder. She was unable to find work until 2 years ago. She was born in 1987, and was considered too old, and with young children (2), considered unemployable, and the other excuse given when rejected, was that she had been out of the workforce too long. Her plan is to work in this job for at least 3 years - despite its low pay, it is a managerial role. She has 12 employees - all of whom earn even less by the way. After 3 years she will apply for other jobs. She is sure that, once she can show 3 years service with one company, that she has a better chance, especially when both children are in school - the youngest is still in kindergarten. She said though that her salary would be almost double to do the same job in Kiev, but the cost of living in Kiev is much higher, and in Nikolaev she can live in the house in which she herself was raised - her grandmother's house (she was raised by her grandparents). She thinks that $USD300 per month would be a great salary. Another friend from Nikolaev earns more than $USD300 per month - around $USD500. She has joined a small army of Ukrainians working in Poland. But her working conditions are terrible: 1 day off every 14 days, 12 hour shifts, two breaks, one for 20 minutes, one for 15 minutes, but the above salary is after her dormitory rent is taken out, and food is provided - she sends most of that money to her mother, who cares for my friend's 15 year old daughter. I keep telling people how hard Ukrainians work - especially Ukrainian women. They never believe me - if I didn't know these people so well, I wouldn't believe it either.

@@Olga_Reznikova I do not feel qualified to advise her. Her experiences in applying for jobs has led her to believe that she needs to have her second child in school first, and to have a few years working for the same company to get credibility to apply for another job. This is her view and I am in no position to say it is right or wrong. As to learning a new skill. Her grandmother can barely walk. She gets up at 6am, and prepares breakfast for the children, walks with the oldest to school, then back to catch a marshrutka to the kindergarten to drop the youngest off, then walk to work. Being the manager, she is first to arrive and last to leave at work. She pays extra to pick up her children late, and then collects the children, cooks dinner for everyone, washes clothes, irons, mends clothes, cleans the house, puts the kids to bed, then makes lunches for the next day, only to start the whole process at 6am. Her husband is rarely there for the kids - sometimes he comes, and tries to impress her by being a "good helpful dad", but then asks if they can be together again, and when my friend mentions his girlfriend, he gets angry, and she and the kids dont see him again for a few weeks. So, she cannot rely on him - she just has to cope. But I dont think her circumstances are unusual. You live in Kiev, and I live in Sydney. The salaries, and net disposable income of Sydney-siders is significantly higher than the country, and the regional cities - I am sure it is the same in Ukraine.

Maybe you want to make people believe that Ukraine is not a poor country, but the reality is different, many studies have been done on the salary in Ukraine, and the statistics about every country in world exists and Ukraine statistics exist. You can find all this, the statistics are done by United Nation and the world trade Organization. You need to find more information to tell the truth about your country
@Rimrock3003 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry sir, you are offended that someone is trying to ruin your notion of that the individual people in general of Ukraine must be very poor since the country as a unit is officially ranked towards the lower part of statistics? It's not that 'easy'. One better see and know the real situation when living in a country for many years, as Olga here. And in the same way it is known to the most of the world that one can find millions of people in the US living in deep poverty, deeper than many Ukrainians, even if the US as country ranks higher up on the statistics.

we have only 10 official holidays (days off) per year, and they are paid. All other holidays do not means that you can not work.

I just stumbled onto your video about wages. Very informative and eye-opening as well. I had no idea that the wage rate in the US was so much higher than eastern European countries. I certainly expected it to be higher, but not several times higher than wages you described. My own employees earn approximately $175,000 per month (in Ukrainian rates converted at 28 times as you stated). All of them are fairly well educated but not by any extreme standards. It looks like the “average” comparable salaries per your video (I paused to look at all the positions you put up) is approximately $30,000 Ukrainian wages per month. That’s nearly 6 times less in Ukraine than in the US. No wonder so many are immigrating to the US from other countries. Add to that the real estate prices that are outrageously more expensive in Ukraine and other countries than in the US. You can barely make ends meet using these wage comparisons. Personally, my Ukrainian salary would fall in the $30,000 Ukrainian wage per month and I make over a 7-figure salary here in the US (not bragging but that’s just the way it is).

Olga I understand that you are trying your best to show the good part of Ukraine and that is very good, It's good to be honest I know people that are living in Ukraine now and for us American we can call the American Embassy in Ukraine and ask information about Ukraine and the Embassy will inform us about the situation in Ukraine, there poor people in every country in the world, I'm sure you can't compare the standard of living in the US and the standard of living in Ukraine, We can all this information by calling the American Embassy.Ukraine has many more problems than the US, from the corruption, education, why do you think there so many marriage agencies in Ukraine more than in Western countries? You know that many Ukrainians go work in other countries because they want to make money, because the salaries are small in Ukraine. Try not to compare the US and Ukraine, even in a 100 years Ukraine will not be like the US.

One can be lucky and live a fine life in the US, but the US also got huge poverty issues, homeless issues, drug issues, crazy gun violence issues, over-weight issues costing billions, that Ukraine are not anywhere near. Concentrate on fixing your own country first. So what if a average Ukrainian citizen are not able to fill up their basement with quite as much junk one does not need from amazon or whatever as an average US citizen. It's not the end of the world, belive me. The majority of Ukrainians are getting by, love their country and have no intentions moving away for good, but many naturally like the idea of work abroad for a period getting some extra income.

You can't compare Ukraine to the US, in a 100 years Ukraine will never be like the US, I'm sure if Ukrainians did not need visa to go to the US, you will have many Ukrainians going to the US and not going back to Ukraine, Many Ukrainians women want to meet American and move to the US, The US is not a perfect country but American will always be proud to be Americans, and many people around the world want to go the US.

@@Rimrock300 You are 100% correct! Arrogant Americans think that everyone wants to come live in that cesspool . The American dream is a f'n joke. It's only for the corrupt upper echelon and anyone else that is willing to lie, cheat ,kill or whatever else it takes to get it. Donald Trump is the poster boy for all of this.

The reason why the interest rate is so high in Ukraine is because banks don't trust Ukrainians that if they take a loan they will be able to pay back to the bank. I'm go explain to you how interest rates work, the higher your salary the lower your interest rates is,it's because the bank are more confident that you can pay back, if your salary is lower the bank will give you a higher interest rate. The interest rates is higher in Ukraine than others western Countries is because Banks don't think most Ukrainians can pay back the money to the Banks. If the salaries were higher in Ukraine the interest rate will be lower like in western countries.

The reason of high interest rate is only inflation. Trust of people has no difference, because if they will not return the loan anyway, what is the difference if it is 40% or 1%?
