You can forgive yourself just as you would forgive others. I would do the same thing becca talked about in the video - make the same two lists and look yourself in the mirror and forgive yourself. Also, I just worked on forgiving myself and I want to share with you something that changed my perspective. So I'm in a group and were working on making amends (saying sorry) and forgiving others/yourself. We made a chart and wrote down who we had to make amends to and who we needed to forgive. I put myself on both of those lists. I wrote a letter to myself saying i'm sorry, then I wrote another one saying "I forgive you"... I used to just think about it as in I "had" to forgive my past self in order to move on, but I didn't want to forgive the careless person I used to be that made dumb decisions. But now I see that the old me is actually sorry for what she did, and it changes everything. I didn't realize the weight of the decisions I was making then and how they would still affect me years down the road. Truly, I didn't know any better. I like to try and falsely accuse my past self saying that she knew better, but she really didn't. Hopefully that helps you gain some insight somewhat. I know this was super long, but when confess our sins another person we will be healed (James 5:16) Pray for wisdom in your situation and seek the Lord wholeheartedly. He longs to give you freedom!!

Kendra Christine I love how you did a video on forgiveness and I’m part of two bible studies and both themes have been about forgiveness recently and I had a similar experience with an almost boyfriend who I held a grudge against for a while (I don’t anymore). It is amazing how God works and orients all this and how he works in your life so you can relate to others! Keep doing your thing girl, God’s going to bring more people to His kingdom and raising people from the dead through your love and relationship with Jesus❤️

Awesome testimony, Becca! I had a best friend and roommate who was killed in a car accident when another driver fell asleep at the wheel and ran a red light. For 7 or 8 years, I would have rage well up in me whenever I saw someone run a red light. I thought it was righteous indignation. One day I was in a conference meeting where they talked about forgiveness, and they gave us time to pray or just think if there might be someone we needed to forgive. It occurred to me that my reaction to people running red lights was a bit unusual, and that maybe I should forgive the driver who killed my friend. So I very matter-of-factly said that I forgave the woman. Suddenly I was sobbing heaving sobs like I'd almost never done before in my life (I'm a guy who almost never cried back then), and it felt like it came out of nowhere. I was confused about why it happened at the time, but in hindsight I realized that the forgiveness closed the door on a point of access that the enemy had had in my life, and at that moment I was delivered from a spirit of anger (yes, I'm talking about a demon). I don't know whether or not that is what happened to you, but I have a friend who was delivered from a demon and felt it leave up her throat and out her mouth. She felt lighter afterward, and when she weighed herself after the deliverance, she was ten pounds lighter than she had been right before it. We cannot usually see or even feel things in the spirit world, but that doesn't mean they don't have substance. Somehow they can have a weight, even if we can't physically feel them. God's presence can have a weight to it, too - the Hebrew word "chabod" refers to God's weighty glory. Anyway, thanks again for sharing this testimony and video. It is a powerful message!

dagman85 YES YES YES oh my gosh!!! I am so glad you talked about this. I got chills reading it. I absolutely think you had what my pastor calls a “squatter” in your heart. Absolutely. Oh man I wish you could see how passionate I am about this typing this comment to you right now! 100% I believe you and as soon as I started reading your story I thought for sure it sounded like demonic activity. So so cool you have a testimony like that. My friend forgave her dad for a long long history of things and she also had a similar testimony as well as the throwing up. It’s crazy how real it all is. Thank you so much for sharing🙌🏻And also, I am so so sorry about your friend who passed away.

@@FarAwayDistance - thanks for your response, Becca. I think the message of forgiveness that you shared is really important, and the Church will be transformed if it truly catches wind of it and takes it seriously. Every point of access to the enemy that we can close up leads us more and more into abundant life. It was not long after that deliverance that God started moving openly in my life, and I received the baptism of the Spirit and so much more began to happen. He is so good, and it is wonderful to be able to experience firsthand how He truly takes is from glory to glory - further up and further in!

Good stuff Becca. Forgiveness is so important. I always try to forgive right away....we are human I don't have high expectations for people and I know man will fail me....definitely learn from mistakes but forgive. So many people are lost and I care so much more about their salvation then what they did to me. Look at the bigger picture.

I've had pretty much the same experience with a guy like you did, and it went on for two years. He would constantly lie and manipulate me to feel like our problems were my fault. But unfortunately I did believe it was my fault. But one day, I finally let myself put the blame were it belonged and let myself feel all the hurt he'd caused that I'd pushed down and ignored. Once I let myself feel the hurt, I was able to let him go and forgive him. And I too felt literal chains fall off of my shoulders. I have felt so free anf whole ever since. Thanks so much for sharing your story, I'm glad I'm not the only one!

This is crazy! I ran into an ex best friend at the store not even an hour ago. It was awkward, but I just said hey and gave her a hug and went on my way. God called me to forgive her and myself for the way I have treated people in the past, so I wasn’t upset seeing her, but it was still random. I think I struggle more with forgiving myself over things.

Welp this video was for me. I've been working on forgiveness the past few weeks with a group at my church. Theres this program called celebrate recovery and we just did our inventory (listing all the actions that people did to hurt us and how they made us feel) and now were working on forgiveness. I had just written a letter to my ex who played games with me as well. It was a super toxic relationship so i can relate. But the whole looking him in the eyes thing took it to a whole new level. When I did it, I saw him turn around and walk away. Felt freedom in realizing he's actually gone and I told have to think about his face day and night. THANK YOU for making this video. I know it had to be difficult and it took a lot of guts, so I commend you for that. You seriously inspire me and you are so so encouraging. I needed to hear this. Thank you !!

Yesss! I can totally relate to your testimony about forgiving. Amen! It took me about a year to forgive in my heart some people that made a decision which deeply effected and hurt me. I had said the words "I forgive them", but still found myself struggling. It wasn't until I was hearing a sermon about communion and Jesus' forgiveness and the body of Christ that God helped me realize...these were people who I took communion beside. Jesus had forgiven them (He extends forgiveness) and He wanted me to too! In that moment I prayed and told God I forgave them for real, asking Him to forgive me for not forgiving them sooner and for all the bitterness I had harbored. I felt a weight/burden lift off of me too! It was amazing!! :)

This is much better than what I have heard other people preach about forgiveness. She is saying that you can forgive without seeing the person live. Some people preach that you should send a letter or forgive the person in their presence. Some people are not reachable or available to forgive.

One day on a Biblical Study, the preacher talked about prayer and how it wasn't something to be used to change people's will. I prayed that night and decided to forgive and let that person go. I felt free and next morning I felt lighter, happier and free. Chains are broken during prayer. So true. I was never the same again.

Oh my gosh. I am going through the exact thing about 5 months ago I started dating this guy we had been friends or mutual friends for awhile and he seemed very caring we hung out all the time and it was nice but a few days before we broke up he told we he was about 98% sure he wanted to be with me and I was like what. We broke up and he was a part of my mutual friend group but he decided not to talk to me much. He did things to made me jealous like going after my friends. He even resorted and is still stocking me as we live in a small town with our houses are just down the street from each other. He lied to me so much to make himself look better because he knew that I am a Christian and wouldn’t think highly of the things he was doing. I cared and still do care about him a lot and I pray for him all the time. I hope the best for him and I wish he would allow me to help him but I understand that it is up to God. He threw me for a loop and I couldn’t stop thinking about the pain and this message really helped me to understand what to do. Thank you girl God bless

amazing, becca! I read the book "every day deserves a chance" by Max Lucado, and there's a chapter which he explains this parable and it's incredible and it's very similar to your video ❤️😍 Jesus is talking a lot about forgiveness with me 🙌 testimony time hahaha: I had a really "bad" relationship with my grandma, because since I was a kid, she always said things that hurt me, but I never had the thought of talking with her about it. so I was accumulating those bad comments she made about me (about my weight, about my opinions which are different from hers, etc) and I had the feeling that I couldn't look at her anymore. I was always stressed, because I thought that her words were so powerful, and I wanted to be "approved", accepted by her. and then, the incredible happened: Jesus showed me my worth. He explained to me that his opinion is what matters and that he is with me all the time, even in the bad moments I have and that I AM HIS. But he also explained to me that I needed to forgive my grandma, because I felt attacked every time she looked at me or talked with me, and it was a thing which always affected my spiritual life. I was building a big wall between me and her... and Jesus was the one who helped me to take that wall down. I've learnt about identifying which opinions are good and I should keep it, and what are not and I totally have to let it go and not feel angry with the person, because we all are humans, we hurt with our words and with our attitudes and that's something that we all have to change and to choose to do different every day. nowadays I talk with my grandma and I can look into her eyes and feel love. I can talk with her and I don't feel attacked anymore, I see through her words, I started to comprehend her attitudes towards people and I know her past and her suffering, and now I love her even when she is saying something to hurt people or me, because that's what Jesus does: he LOVES. I forgave her 🙌 I talked with Jesus and one time when I saw her, I thought to myself: I forgive you. And it changed everything inside me. She didn't change... I did and now I'm free from those bad feelings I had and now I can show my love for her and we know: when we do something positive, the person who is negative feels different every time she looks at us. Because Jesus is the light and when we do something positive, He shines. Thank you, Becca, for this video!
