4:15 Kellyanne nearly got slammed for saying something ridiculous so it seems her plan of recovery is much like the cat. Just sit there all smug like you meant to do it even if you know you fucked up. She should be so grateful that she received only as much live criticism as she did.

I agree 100% with what she said. How can you look at a fetus in a mothers womb and say its not a human life. That is absolutely what it is, a human life. Republican or Democrat, no matter what you are, you are human. You were the same infant inside a womb once. The world, the law and most of all the people of this world should respect it. Not choose it but respect it because making an innocent life an option is pretty fucking inhumane to me.

Bill Maher: If you care at all what people think about your show... I liked you initially, long ago saw your obvious intelligence and potential as a social commentator, but you went too far... you became a sort of Anne Coulter of the Left just stirring the pot and trolling for reactions, and you became nasty and contentious which is not attractive... both my wife and I stopped watching you, we were disappointed in you for failing to reach and communicate. I just watched this episode of Real Time, and damned if I'm not pleased and impressed. You still have the cutting wit but you don't go too far, your guests are first rate, you give your guests reasonable time to answer the questions without interrupting, and I love that the questions come from people watching your show (not just from you and your staff). I am going to watch more episodes and see if this was just a good episode, or if you have really turned a corner... it's good to see you back in the saddle... you are a guy who can make a difference.

There aren't any prominent Democrats opposed to abortion rights: that's a *credit* to the party. And that lady was talking about denial of science as if it's a good thing, like, it's 'diversity of thought'... I don't see how she contributes anything intelligent to the table, but I guess Bill & the audience likes to have some disagreement.

It is crazy to me that no one on this table knew you can't get an abotion near 5 months of pregnancy, are you fucking kidding me?
@CyeOutsider
@CyeOutsider 10 жыл бұрын
I dohn't like abortion, but it shouldn't be made illegal. We should focus on preventing unwanted pregnancies, rather than demonizing women that seek abortions. We should have more comprehensive sex education, family planning and frank discussions about the aftereffect of abortion. Women shouldn't be lied to or manipulated when making this choice. And the government should not be forcing women to have babies the don't want, can't afford to have, or can't care for properly. There are social consequences for that kind of government intervention that shouldnt be ignored.

There's lots of diversity in the Republican Party. For example, there are some republicans who think we should execute mentally challenged criminals and those who think we shouldn't. There are some republicans who think that the top marginal tax rate should be 10% and some who think it should be zero. So, see? Diversity.

And also, no duh, the Republican Party lacks diversity, and we're all saying they believe in similar issues...maybe because they're in the same party, and they can't really be that diverse. So bullshit, Conway.

Diversity, like how to create jobs, what to do about the environment, solutions to get all people voting., That is good diversity. Science vs. Creationism, that's not diversity. That's sense vs. myth.

I'm sure there is diversity in the Republican party. Bill himself has made the claim that many of his republican guests have supported democratic policies after a few drinks and when the cameras are off. The problem is, of course, these republicans would be lynched if they voiced those opinions. I know plenty of Republicans who are good people. But that's not the public face. The public face of the republican party is bigoted, anti-women, anti-poor, anti- science, anti-reality and very very pro-business at the expense of everything else.

As far as I am concerned, as long as a baby is in the body of a woman, it does not get the same rights as any person does. Also, I love Robert Lustig. He's even more pissed off at the food industry here than usual :D Should give that docu of his a watch.

Abortion is justified when it's either defense, or a mercy killing. It's nothing to do with speciesism, like was being suggested at the table.

Toby Agreed. Further, if a woman requires an abortion at 5 months, it is usually, if not always, due to health reasons. Also, if the fetus is so malformed that it wouldn't survive anyway, the woman shouldn't be forced to carry it to term.

01denese Some liberals do go so far as denying that the fetus is a human life. They tend to say they're only a few cells, etc. I'm broadly pro-choice but there are some arguments used by pro-choicers that I think are wrong-headed and won't go along with.

The problem with GMO's that is certain - is that they are integral to factory farming. Factory farming is a huge problem that is causing health problems, and causing pollution problems - and worst of all, factory farming contributes a lot to climate change. Nitrogen ---> nitrous oxide which is a very powerful GHG.

I'm a liberal, but I agree w/ Kellyanne Conway. She's right that there is some (not a lot, but some) diversity in the Republican Party. There's differences of opinion in every political party, because no one has the EXACT same political views. People tend to join the party that they mostly agree with. For example, I'm pro-life and pro-gun, but I call myself a Democrat, since I agree with them on a majority of issues.

The 5 months mark, 20 weeks, feels like a strawman argument here. 6 months (24 weeks) is the typical point of viability. How many woman are actually seeking abortions (that are not medically necessary) at 5 months?

I agree with the blonde women, she didn't exactly get the real point she was driving across properly but heres my thought. in order for something to grow their has to be some sort of life in it (or it couldn't grow) and if that life is turning into a human a lot of people would classify that life (no matter how developed) a human. I don't think abortion is necessarily a bad thing because raising a child in this world properly is extremely tough (financial,emotional, and every other way possible) and if you weren't able to do it properly or if you were raped yes you should be able to get an abortion but I think the debate shouldn't be you cant or can get an abortion it should be (lets discuss how important it is to be ready before making one ) if you meet in the middle of the conflict instead of focusing 1 of 2 outcomes that people think about you can find a better solution

Um, guys... there's lot of probiotics in some yogurts you should look out for too... not even mentioned by any of the panel. I'm stunned really. The yogurt itself might be a staple, but with probiotics those are a cut above the rest and at least a quarter of the brands put some good ones in there.

Perhaps I'm alone here, but I really can't stand when Bill has one of his comedian buddies on the show who add nothing to the conversation beside snappy one liners that usually aren't very funny. I get that he wants to lighten the mood, but at least get someone who can contribute to the convo and fire off a few good zingers that don't come off as forced.
