the problem with kung fu enthusiasts today (not talkin bout ya'll) is that many dont realize the amount of power you need to develope to make these strikes work in real fights.Like if boxers learned all their "moves" but never really worked hard on a bag woudnt be more than an irritant in a real fight. You can take a crazy amount of hits in a fight, get bloody an everything but without real follow through its not that damaging.

These moves are not white crane techniques whatsoever, clearly learned from a naff book, video. As for balance looks like like one to many for the road. Trouble this fellow jake, is on an ego trip. Where did he learn white crane, who taught him, you will never get an answer, why. Pity, jake-wouldnt learn some real kung fu become honest and teach with pride. But jake is half way there, he did admit to being a fake, when he had a court case brought against him, by is fake instructor. Do the right thing jake, peace, animals, bs, love.

The White Crane that I learned has an emphasis on keeping your elbows in during blocks and using hip force ("shaking jin") to generate attack power. #7 is an amazing example of elbows waaay out in the middle of nowhere and he never seems to use shaking jin anywhere, although he used float/sink in one of the moves. So yeah, doesn't seem like White Crane to me.

Some of those are pretty silly. The two throws are high risk, and the "pecking one is pretty daft. For simple effectiveness, the first one was good. The sweep and knee kick got my mind going, but good or bad, it was fascinating to see moves one of the two arts that supposedly lead to karate. But I have a question for you - could YOU imagine using most of these in a real fight?

Hoity Toity It's not a matter of force, it's a matter of tactical advisability. Two of those takedowns are known as "sacrifice throws". The reason is that you sacrifice your position and chance for continued fighting by doing them, and if done incorrectly, you are in big trouble. Techniques where you lie down or roll around are orders of magnitude more risky to attempt and harder to pull off.

Mat Broomfield White Crane practitioner here (not affiliated with ShoalinCenter), and I agree completely. I don't know what his lineage is, but a lot of what he's demonstrating are waijia (outsider) techniques, which are only shown to beginners or outsiders of the art. In my mind, a lot of those techniques are Chin Na trapping and locking setups for takedowns. I also agree that a lot of the ground rolling he does seems superfluous at best and very dangerous at worst in a real fight.

techniques shown are more Northern Crane or Hung Kuen , Yong Chun or Fukien White is Similar to Wing Chun and other Hakka based Gung Fu styles that it predominately is a hand oriented art with little or no kicking above the waist. Also Crane Beak as you have demonstrated is not used. though I found your interpretation of the art fairly interesting.

dont know much about this style as i never did kung fu. were my parents are talking about moving to they have a white crane kungfu school. iv always been more of a chinese kenpo man myself i have a my 1st dan in chinese kenpo. and next month im thinking of taking seibukan jujutsu. and work towards another black belt. and when i hit brown belt ill move into krav maga. and then into muay thai. and then into shoshin ryu. after i study those styles if i am still here in alaska then i might look into that white crane stuff.
