I wish these small house designs could include a small foyer, akin to a Japanese genkan, where one could leave one’s outdoor shoes, hang up coats, and leave keys on a tray atop the shoe cabinet. It doesn’t have to be big! Just a small buffer between the outdoors and one’s inside haven. I can’t imagine going straight from the front door to the home’s interior and tracking in outdoor dirt and grime.

If this is a permanent residence (not AirBnB) would definitely need to rearrange things to accommodate clothing and storage. Would prefer the balcony room for the adults, scoot the bathroom way way back into the primary bedroom area, and eliminate the hallway. The remaining space in the rear would make a nice closet/storage area. The kids could sleep outside in a tent. ⛺️😅😊

Biggest issue with this house imo is the washer/dryer all in one combo and that's about it for me. Would rather they be separate but there's no real room in this house for that unless you cut the bathroom on the first floor in half almost and only put the toilet and sink fairly close to each other with small shelf for towels there for a guest bathroom. The washer/drying would be in the living room with this what the doors for both facing inwards/back against the wall with that setup though (not the worst thing that can happen...may be annoying if you/a guest is there watching TV or something and it's on but if it's just you and you convert one of the 2nd floors bedrooms into your office/TV room/game room/all of these that'd be less of an issue (hell would more or less be like my room tbh in that case where my bedroom/game room take up the entire basement of my house with a small bathroom that can fit shower, toilet, and sink. Rest of the necessities is on the first floor witht he kitchen/2 living rooms and then my other family members up in the 2nd floor...only other thing in the basement is 1 back groom we use for storage/wash and 1 heater room (something I see missing in this video and should probably be shown off how these houses handle that) but for the most part my bedroom alone is just a tad bit bigger than the entire 2nd floor of this house (this size plus a half I guess) and where i spend most of my time). So ya those changes with the wash and this be an easy enough house for me to live in if by myself but I will definitely say it's not the kind of house someone with family should be living in tbh (hell even 2 people may be too much...this is a single person's house imo). The front of the house will work well enough for guests but mainly if you only have a few guests (3 to 5 people max) and more so if you're also spending most of the time outside as well (could make up a small gazebo outside with that much land for guests, especially more than 5 people, to mainly hang out in while people just move in and out of the house for something like food). As for storage issues if you do something like have shelves in the walls/floor even it could help a lot (say you dig into the ground a bit and made some minirooms for that where you can pull out some small table sized shelves and the like, that could work for can food storage/other non perishables while the more perishable stuff could be put in the walls and the like while utensils, dishes, etc are thrown into the walls)...hell you could probably even apply this to the ceiling of the first floor too if you didn't want to use the floor for whatever reason (fear of flooding would be a solid reason i guess...granted with this house a flood will damage most of the house). As for clothing storage if you place the bed on top of a long bureau (my parents have a queen sized bed that does this on both sides respectively) then you can save room for other things in the room for storing other things (books, games, movies, etc) and like the first floor you could probably use the walls, floor, and ceiling for storage too (and going back to the washer/dryer you could probably put them somewhat partially into the wall too to give a little bit extra room as well).

I think there is no need for a 2nd toilet area even though the idea of having it incorporated with the laundry is good in such a small house. However considering the lack of room in the kitchen for food to be stored, I would put the washing machine in one of the ground level cupboards in the kitchen and then utilize that whole room as a pantry to the side of the kitchen. I know people like to cater to guests with a downstairs loo but that place is far too small to be accommodating 2 bathroom areas. Also it said 1 bedroom but there are 2 so theoretically it could be a couple and 2 kids, meaning four living in such a small area. Although a well thought out plan with bunk beds, I still don't think this type of home is right for a family of 4. No room to grow and where would the kids play or do their homework? No this place is ideal for a couple alone and the 2nd bedroom could be used as a crafts room or a storage room. Another suggestion would be to add a carport onto the side but there is not much room on that piece of land. One other little thing noticed at the beginning of the video is that there is no railing to support people going up the stairs, especially in that lower area before turning. People have disabilities and some people are unfit and can lose their balance, so it is a safety issue to leave it that way. I do however like the design very much.

@@margueritebridges9029 Yeah well growing up in a much larger home (in Australia), we only ever had one toilet and one bathroom (separate rooms). It's not a necessity to cater for guests in that space. They can go upstairs and use the main bathroom area if need be. A larger home, and in this day and age, I would agree with you that catering with what Americans call a half bath on the ground floor makes sense but as there was little room for food storage in that kitchen, it seemed a good location for a pantry there. Maybe the architect could work something out for a separate half bath in another area of the ground floor - I don't know.
