Not bad but here are some tips for next time: 1. When acting, try to make the recoil more explosive. 2. If you look at reference footage, most modern guns don't have a big bright muzzle flash. It's mostly just smoke coming out of the muzzle. But if you want to make it like in a lot of movies you have to make the muzzle flash a lot lot bigger. It is way to small here (but depends on the caliber but this is definetly to small) 3. You need a lot more variety. Make some muzzle flashes bigger, some smaller and sometimes you don't see any flash 4. The slide going back and for is definetly to slow. You often can't see the slide really moving in real guns (reference) 5. The light the muzzle flash emits has to be also on the background wall and has to be a lot more orange 6. Your holding the pistol wrong

For my opinion, some little smoke after the muzzle flair would be more realistic. I have done that in my edits, and I think it looks better. But anyway, a great tutorial!

Can the created muzzle flash be used as a preset?

Yes it can! Once you have your settings dialed in on the Gunfire effect, as well as any additional Heat Distortions, Blurs, and Color Corrections, you can select all the effects and make them into an effects preset. Or if you want a sort of template with all the effects (smoke, bullet shells, etc) you could save the project file and then import that Composite Shot into any other project.

To be honest, I am disappointed with this tutorial. The effect shown here doesn't even approach the way Corridor Digital does. Nothing detailed has been explained: how to set the muzzle flame depending on the caliber of the weapon, what the sound of the weapon should be, you only showed how to add a light at the end of the barrel in fact. The example itself is also weak: the camera on a tripod without movement, shooting basically only from one angle ... As I generally like your channel, I think that this guide is probably the worst I have ever seen

can we have a tutorial showing how to turn the gunfire add on muzzle flash so it looks good because the default is way to saturated

The muzzle flash effect itself has a few color controls, so you could adjust those to be less saturated. You could also add additional color correction effects such as 'Hue Saturation and Lightness' and turn down the saturation control, or another color correction effect like 'Curves' to dial in the exact color.

Go to one of the frames where you want your gun to fire, then turn off the visibility for all the other layers. Click the "Export Frame" button, and choose the "Reimport onto timeline: single frame" option. This will save the current image seen in the viewer as an image file, and bring that image onto a new layer on the timeline. Select the "Mask" tool, then draw a shape to cut out part of the gun. If you need help with this part watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3_Fd5ljnZ1grLs Then go back to the regular "Selection" tool, select the image layer, and move it's position so it appears to have slid backwards. Add an "Angle Blur" effect to make it appear like it actually moved and has motion blur. Adjust the "Angle" setting so the blur stretches in the direction of the movement. Repeat for the rest if the gunshots. Hopefully this helps! If not feel free to create a post on the FXhome forums so we can better assist you :)

Flashes look cool but the sketch you made to show it was so underwhelming, you added the epic music and when he fired the guns there was no recoil and if there was it was strange to say the least.
