When you’re in line at the hospital, the triage nurse will decide who gets priority. If someone deemed to be more of an emergency that you come in, ambulance or not, you will get bumped in line. Even smaller towns usually have even less wait time. I lived in a town of 3000 and never had more than a 15-20 minute wait at the hospital there. But the drawback is that if they are under staffed they will send you to the nearest large hospital on your own (by ambulance if it’s life or death). That can be 1-2 hours drive in some places in Northern BC.

Haven’t paid a single bribe in Canada. In India even for basic things like driver’s license test, the officer wanted a Rs.1500 bribe. When I was 18 years old I did not have that kind of money. Somehow I arranged it. Do you think people cannot take bribes in Canada? Of course they can. But it’s an attitude problem. People are so invested in the idea of nationalism that they fail to see the problems with their own country. Of course I love India. The land where I spent 25 years of my life. Should that stop me from seeking better things in life? Absolutely not. This classic attitude in India of “whataboutery” is the reason behind most back dated things. Second worst thing is the middle aged uncles and aunties who have the highest level of hypocrisy in their lifestyles and have the audacity to judge other people.
