IIM is not just a degree it is the dignity which sticks with you for the lifetime and it is never expected from the IIM graduate to seek comfort in his job and so they have made their curriculm such rigorous so that one would cope up with the world of MNCs. The reason behind leaving job is 70% of the students at IIMs are freshers who dont have any experience and starting their career with utmost responsible position isnt the cake walk for everyone.

One more thing to add Work life balance. I know many people hawa- baazi m they go into Investment Banking or management consulting and after 2 years t they end up opening a coaching center for CAT or teaching for one . Even if you get a placement in Goldman sachs or McKinsey you have to deliver performance, handle politics and your boss. Sometimes working can go to 100 hours+ a week. Only opt for these Fancy Jobs if you are willing to Work that much.One more thing to Add Rent cost - Most investment Banking Roles are offered in Mumbai where Rent in one of the highest in Asia 30-40K per month easily. Nothing is left after expenses.

Phir bhi bahut achha hai jaha par india Mai itna unemployment hai uske bad after normal graduation jab mil bhi raha hai to 2-4/5 lpa ka , to kat katake hat Mai 20-25k at hai Kam se Kam do saal mehanat karke 70-80k milna bahut achhi baat hai.Hamare yaha log TCS Mai 10 saal dene ke baad 70 k par jata hai to wo log bhi family bana raha hai wo log Kya majority aisa hi hai. To agar apko 25-26 age Mai itna mil raha hai to bahut badi baat hai.

I agree with most of the points here, I passed out of IIM Trichy at 23 years of age, got a job in the avg of the mentioned salary range (PPO - One of the best marketing companies on campus), left that job within 1 year cos it wasn't a good fit, paying off my loan aggressively cos wfh saved a lot of money. Hence as a new IIM alum I completely validate what you've mentioned, loving the content man.

@@FactNight It all depends on what you're enjoying, if you don't want to do a job, then an MBA is not for you, because the MBA degree helps you get a giant push in a corporate career, if you're satisfied with KZbin then I suggest working full time to grow it. P.S: I cleared my loan in 15 months, so don't worry about that.

I am a full-time stock market trader, slowly turning out profitable since 6 months after 1.5 yrs in the field. I have received an admit from IIM bodhgaya but also interviewed for Ubs chandigarh. I want to continue part-time trading as well, that's why I am doubtful if I should join IIM Bodhgaya(given it will be rigorous I suppose) or go for Ubs if I get it. Also, the fees of IIM is 15.5 lakh for bodhgaya while it is less than 1 lakh for Ubs. Not very interested in placements but keeping it as a backup option incase I fail in my business. Your views?
