This bit of history has always held a place in my heart. As a hairstylist, a few of us used to talk about famous, "non famous" people in the beauty industry. (I say "used to" as I no longer work behind a chair, or in a salon. Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome took me out of the game 6 years ago) Any way, you should look into the story of how Paul Mitchell got started. It's quite interesting😉

Oh Mike! Thanks so much for telling this story! Yes, she believed she was losing her hair from having her hands in hot lye soap for years doing laundry. And she was the 1st female millionaire. I was familiar with it already, and as a Constitutional Conservative, I tell it often! People are so ignorant of the myriad of wonderful stories in our foundational years and am particularly aggrieved that black history has been so tainted by the Progressives for so long, that positive stories like this have been denied to black Americans for so long. The ex football player Burgess Owens is out there informing blacks that after slavery, blacks were very up and coming. Making great strides, with great pride in their race, and the Progressives have knocked them down, time and time again. Still to this day, but in devious ways. Please look for his book, it is so inspirational and also angering that black history, and pride has been stolen and is still under assault by the Left today. You don't have to be a victim. And as Burgess says... White people need to stop apologizing. The Left has been destroying and hiding our history by controlling our education and media for about 100 years. America has made mistakes (who doesn't) but we try to learn from them. Too bad it has taken this long to recognize that those who would destroy our precious Republic were the very people sitting on the Left side of the aisle, telling us they're 'helping' us. It's time to stand up for Americanism. All of us! Another Must read: Rediscovering Americanism! APATHY is the greatest threat to our country.

It's so hard to fear impending doom for someone who's already feared it while I'm barely keeping a somewhat relationship or whatever it is I can find to sleep under. I hope they stop eventually kicking me out like it usually goes. I wear out my welcomes and don't mean to. What about the TJ in Conover? His bro look alike probably separated sometime has a really bad smile scar. Met him in person after me and her went to Texas right after that dam dot pulled me on Christmas day bobtaing to get my trailer. She said there's no way they can keep up with all we're doing and shut me down 10 hours. Wtf. Wish I'd known to ask her then. And the big tough purdy classic...she knew what? It's following me. She ain't. I want a new nightmare. First I want a job that won't fire me for doing my own job too good. I ain't that flexible.

Mike great story, and just a comment I have had thick hair for 61 years and could never wear a hat, just recently after two weeks of brain radiation my hair is completely gone, thus now I can and do wear hats, because my head gets cold. so hair today and gone tomorrow suits me to a T.

Karen Staples - it wasn't so much a treatment. It's believed the hairlessness was from having her hands in hot harsh lye soap all day doing laundry, done all by hand in those days. And that people didn't wash their hair often either. So as her hair did improve from the oils etc in her treatment, most likely the fact that she wasn't doing all that harsh washing work, and her hair was also being cleaned, taken care of more often. Just sharing what I know of her story.
