My brother would watch news all day7 flipping back and forth between Fox and CNN. Became a miserable old man. I don't watch the news any more. I jump online, look at what's there and if it interests me, I'll watch. If not, I won't. Those stories that interest me makes me research more. Great way to learn.

We watch only y/t generated material,we watch guys like you and megan,we watch people who travel,and people who drive big rigs and film the interstates ,couples and families building homes and farmers and ranchers.,many others.We will never return to scripted TV again.

I have a relative who was in journalism. He was a report and would do special reports etc. Anyway, he got out because he was constantly being told what to report. He'd do the investigation, research, interviews etc. write the report then they'd come back with "their own" version and tell him to report that. He was frustrated because he'd spend all that time preparing only to be told to report it a certain way. It was like he wasn't a journalist but just reading a prepared speech with "THEIR" approved narrative. He was very much on the same page with Pres. Trump with his "FAKE NEWS" statements because that is EXACTLY what is going on. ALL major news organizations are in fact pushing the same narrative and are reading from the same play book. He saw it and lived it that's why he got out of it. He is doing something else now and is a lot happier for it.

I Have Not Seen ANY Broadcast News in over 10 YEARS. THANK YOU JESUS. I Remember how much better I felt when I turned the TV OFF. I PICK , not "The Media", what I want to watch. I REFUSE to watch ANYTHING With Sean Hannity, and a few of his friends. I Prefer to Listen to people who have been "Censored". I Trust CENSORED People WAY more than the Pretty Boys and Girls on Broadcast TV. Also happy to say I have NEVER watched a Joe Rogan show EVER. I have seen clips but NEVER a show. Has the news always been designed to scare and outrage, or is that relatively new tactic with the drama and the tsk-tsking and the loud voices like we're all deaf, and sighs that is ever so popular these days. I'm trying to remember if Peter Jennings or Walter Kronkite behaved that way. I don't remember them doing it, but then they were professional anchors, not the "journalists" posing as anchors.

They fed us BS as well. When Kronkite came on CBS, he tried to be "Uncle Walter" to everyone. His predecessor, Douglas Edwards, was a correspondent on CBS before Kronkite and actually reported live on location for important events. When I was younger, Douglas Edwards was on just 15 minutes. Only important things were discussed. Local news and weather took up the other 15 minutes. They didn't have to stretch it out to 24 hours like today.

I know the answer to "Why they stay?" Mike. Trust. They've listed around and found vioces that they can see are acting/speaking in good faith. And over time they build a level of trust in that voice. That it will continue to speak "honestly", even if I disagree with it, it will be an honestly expressed pov.
