This week on New Detectives - Often, the eyewitnesses of a crime are also the main suspects. They're able to manipulate the truth to throw off the authorities. When a murder is committed and deceit clouds the evidence, investigators turn to forensics to uncover the truth, expose a murderous lie and capture the killer.

In another episode, the murderer was a pathological liar who was able to beat the polygraph test while his friend became the first suspect because of inconclusive results LOL.

Those men that kill their baby mamas why can't they consider that the children are the ones who suffer more by losing a mother and a father at the same time ,you waste your whole life fighting for children that you will only stay with them probably for 21 years before they are adults and move out ,so heartbreaking

It was obvious it was Bradford from day one really, but his cop mates tried to stitch up the ex colleague and wife first to help a brother out, when that failed they had no option but to actually investigate the blatantly obvious murderer.

The last case. I also am very familiar with a 1980 Pontiac Grand Prix. The car they used in this show was certainly not a 1980 Grand Prix. The 1980 Grand Prix is a 2 door car. The car they used looks more like an Olds Cutlass 4 door maybe a 1979.

This is a great reminder as to why the world has come thus far in advancing in technology and mass surveillance provided, possibly set themselves up for disaster if they don't find the right people working for them... You can stage a crime scene all day long but there's nothing like knowing the truth... And with the masses having smart technology at their fingertips are more than curious to know why people get trapped in sloppy crimes like these.

I just want to point out that most cops are good cops. They have been getting a bad rep lately because of some of the bad ones, and I know there are plenty of bad ones... Just, you never hear about the ones like the ones who arrested me, but never put me in cuffs, but instead took me and my dog to my son's home so I could leave my dog in a safe place. They didn't have to do that, but they did and I have never forgotten that good deed. Yes, I have run into bad ones sometimes, but the good ones are the ones I choose to remember. So many good ones, but the bad ones are the ones most people remember. Sad. For every bad, there are probably a dozen good, maybe more.

20:08 when the neighbor who was speeding saw the squad car, she hadn't "placed Bradford as the scene," she'd only placed his car at the scene. It's important to be accurate. However, never try to commit a crime in a small town. Everybody knows everybody else's business, and everybody knows everybody else's car.

merry hunt: that would only have weight if that was absolutely the only piece of evidence - a slippery defence lawyer could throw up that rather weak point in court in a last ditch effort to get their client off but it wouldn't work. This isn't a family car that anyone could be driving. It's also important to employ logic and common sense - there is accuracy and then there is splitting hairs.

So Bradford goes whizzing past the ATM machine with its camera. Pulls in to the drive. Unlocks his trunk to take a can of gasoline out. Waddles to the house with the can and unlocks the door. He then lugs the gas can through to the bedroom and pours it all over the body and the bed… sets it alight- and calls the fire brigade; all in 65seconds???

I have so many things to say and even more questions about these cases and yes I know they are older. Like why ruin crucial evidence of possible blood on the shoe when you can spray luminal and use UV light then test it and see if it matches the blood from the victim. And that’s only one of my questions about these cases that baffles me

Who was the person who worked out the replicating DNA procedure? I know he won a Nobel prize for it, but can't remember his name. He did forensics a huge service.
@nowandaround312
@nowandaround312 2 жыл бұрын
The case is from almost 30 years ago, you think they had the same technology, methods and knowledge as forensic investigators now? Obviously they didn't. You needed a much larger sample for DNA testing back then. The sample they had wasn't even enough for blood type testing. The best they could do was prove that it was human blood. They did the best they could with the options available. Also, luminol does not prove anything. Other things besides blood react with luminol. It's just a tool that detectives use to help them locate _potential_ sources of blood invisible to the human eye so that they know which areas need to be tested.

For the second case in the beginning the narrator said the husband said after dropping kids of at their school he stopped at home before going to the bank for an appointment he had. But he changed his story and said he "putted" around at his apartment buildings, then went to the bank for the appointment. But no one saw him there.

What do you need explained? You already said it yourself, he shot her and then put the blanket on her. It's normal to cover a dead body, especially one that looks gruesome. An innocent person might have done the same thing. Unlike most people though he probably wasn't bothered by the scene, he's too cold-blooded. It was likely part of his effort to warm her body to interfere with the investigators establishing a time of death.
