Just a rule of safety on the 360 engines. If it has over 60K miles on it, and the water pump/timing cover gaskets look to be original, change the timing chain before rolling over the engine. A lot of these got parked due to jumping time, and unfortunately, they are zero clearance engines, they will destroy the top end by the pistons striking the valves, and sometimes cracking the piston. The factory timing chain set was only rated for 60K miles on all nylon tooth gear sets. Trail dusters are very cool rigs and are getting increasingly hard to come by. Pretty cool find, thanks for sharing.

Hey guys I really love old RamCharger Prospectors on the Vans and their trucks,but I am also a fan of Chevy Cheyenne's as much as the The old Prospectors. But Cheyenne's were only offered on the K5 Blazer & Pickup trucks ,but not the Suburban I don't think.

Hello From Kentucky. For Me, I don’t recall ever seeing any of the TrailDusters but for many years the Game Wardens drove the Dodge RamChargers as well as other state agencies that used these SUVs. I am not sure if any of the RamChargers were 2wd which being this was the SUV used by the Game Wardens, I am quite sure that they would have been mostly all 4wd vehicles.
@RealSteelFabricationsАй бұрын
Funny you say that. My RamCharger I have was actually an old conservation plow truck. Think you’re right, mostly all 4x4

@TheREALOC1972Ай бұрын
one of my former soldiers had one of these, it was his first only car until he was in his late 20's. His step-dad worked for a Dodge dealership and got it for what the dealership paid for it on trade. The first thing they did was yank the 360 and put a 318 from a mid 90's D-150 in it, those 360's were too much of a headache to maintain, the timing set was Nylon and they were only good for like 60-80k miles and they would jump time really easy. His was a Automatic on the colom and 2WD.
@RealSteelFabricationsАй бұрын
This one seems to be running good, so I’ll wait until it messes up. 2wd seems like a rare duck. I wouldn’t mind finding one…. Ohhh but I don’t need another lol.

Running those cars with low transmission fluid & reving them up will burn up the pump quick!!! Remember for next time
@willwatson3614Ай бұрын
Well, that's NOT ATF=4 Fluid, hope that crappy GM/Ferd fluid doesn't finish off that trans. Also Ferd Blue? Are you sure that's not MoPar Blue?
@RealSteelFabricationsАй бұрын
By what I read, everywhere was saying ATF, ATF+4 for newer ram chargers tho
@willwatson3614Ай бұрын
@@RealSteelFabrications Although ATF+4 came out in ~1999, it's what replaced ATF+3. I had to rebuild a Trans for a guy who bought a truck with a fresh rebuild that did not use MoPar approved fluids, the incorrect oil cause clutch slippage and would not let the truck move. The GM/Ferd stuff dosn't have the correct additives for MoPar TF trans.
