@candy svp I hope that was sarcasm ... if not then your perspective on race in modern culture is non-sensical, anti-empirical, showing a severe lack of knowledge in social history, being irrational on how politics is informed by overt and covert racism with partisan bias, and most crucially and dumbfoundingly of all what racism actually is by simple dictionary definition. If your comment was a parody of your typical Trump voting coward who hides their reprehensible views behind a keyboard then bravo! Excellent satire.

If so I apologise, Candy, and you are right I misread your humour as being legitimate. I guess I was on my guard as the sheer number of racists on KZbin these days is ridiculous and disgusting. The whole lot of Birthers are straight up morons and what I said in my misunderstanding (and again I sincerely apologise, Candy) you could apply to them. Had I got it wrong and you were mocking them for calling Obama Kenyan and not American?
@TitoTimTravels

@candy sus Yes. That was when it became acceptable mainstream behavior. Racism has always been around (it is enshrined in our constitution), but for decades they lived under their rocks. Any time they talk about the 'good old days', they mean the 1950s - when women and minorities knew their place. That is what the christian taliban wants to go back to.

Bill asks "What gets the applause lines?" with Republicans. One of the biggest applause lines in the 2010 Republican primaries was when Ron Paul was asked "What do you tell a guy who is sick, goes into a coma and doesn't have health insurance? Who pays for his coverage? Are you saying society should just let him die?" (Wolf Blitzer asked). And when several people yelled, "Let him die!" the audience erupted in applause. THAT's what kind of person votes for Republicans.

In all fairness, the scenario was that the young man was healthy and made a good living. He could afford health insurance, but he simply didn't think he needed it. Which is a silly reason to not buy insurance. I don't imagine that I'm gonna have a car accident any time soon. But it's still good to have it. Ron Paul was smeared by his knee jerk opposition on that one.

About colonialism I don't know what Giuliani meant by that but I just wanted to put in that you should stop considering yourselves as "the colonies". A part from the fact that you were never colonies like the indians or africans were (at least you were not considered sub-human by the British) but since then you've become colonialists in more ways than one: toward native americans but also towards other countries. The meaning of modern colonization does not involve necessarily the control of the territory. Western countries, US ahead, have butted in other countries government and political affair to gain their own interests, see the Panama channel, but also rights to local materials; we decided what they should cultivate to satisfy our markets; with low pay for them and destoying often their cultures. And we didn't stop at supporting accomodating dictatorships to do that. Colonialism is not completely dead.
@1984isnotamanual
@1984isnotamanual 8 ай бұрын
Yet when we want to remove one of those dictators we supported, one of the worst one of them, Saddam Hussein, you are against it right? And should the US not have any interest in a Panama Canal they helped build? Also how did we “destroy” Panamanian culture? It seems they get a lot of money from that canal no?

HardColdFacts Ya know, she could just be wrong. Do you know what that word means, little one? It's when someone thinks, says or does something... and it is not factual or appropriate. Now that you have the basic idea of what 'wrong' means, let's go ahead and talk about what exactly she hates about white people. Pretty sure whichever mass of people is getting wrongfully shot is going to get the liberal attention. We tend to do our best to help people who are struggling rather than the rich or the influential. Fact is that far too many men, women, and children are being shot by the police. And most of them are black. And way too many of them are unarmed/handcuffed/posing no actual threat. So again, say she hates white people. She may not be correct (never been to NY, idgaf what the crime is like) but you little boy are just makin' shit up.

Lebowitz hits the nail on the head here. It is worse to call someone a racist than to be a racist because the minute you call someone out on racism you will be painted as "politically correct." Bush Sr. started using the term PC to silence political discussion in the 1980s, and it has now become a very effective name to silence political thinking.

***** Did you listen to this video? I am replying to a point made in the video. The point is not that it is OK to be racist. The point was that when people try to denounce racism they are in turn accused of being PC and shut down. So, ironically, the person who calls out the racist is silenced and criticized, while the racist is escapes criticism. No sheltered life here.

This guy put the emergency response center in the same building hit on 9-11, AFTER it was hit by a previous terrorist attack AND was told by EVERYBODY not to put it there, for that very reason. He did, and emergency services was shortchanged when they were needed the most. (9/11 Commission Report) He should be in the trash heap of history.

I don't think anyone misses the racism of the 1950's. I think what people miss is not looking over your shoulder in places like New York (or any other big city) every 10 seconds. (Ironic that NY came up in the conversation.)

Fran Lebowitz: I don't watch the whole thing, I just see he has an infomercial I flip This is how much she adds to the discussion - absolutely nothing. Give yourself a big, warm tap on the back for flipping the channel when you see a Giulliani's infomercial and for not voting for him or Bloomberg. Good on ya.

@@weantoine I was being sarcastic. But I don't agree with you. New Yorkers knew the real Rudy from the moment he entered public life. America knew the Rudy of 9/11. That Rudy was the glue we thought held NYC together. Before 9/11, I doubt 95% of the country could have picked him out of a lineup. And I'm being conservative. There is no I told you so moment because New Yorkers had held him in high regard because of his leadership during 9/11. We rooted for Rudy because we stood in support of NYC. He was saying all the right things and New Yorkers agreed. We were united as Americans and followed NYC's lead.

***** What's wrong with Jewish people? and how many of them are practicing? Bill Maher is half Catholic and certainly not religious, perhaps you know that but only see the Semitic as a problem. If so, then you have the problem. I could tell you about how intolerance impacted the people of Ireland and beyond but i get the feeling that I would be wasting my time.
