The reaction to this has assured me the right person one. I've seen people cleaning out their social media friends list over nothing other than their friends supported Trump. These people wanted to laugh at these Trump supporters after the election but lost and immediately went to a safe space; eliminating good friendships. One person was wearing a "Make Racists Afraid Again" on his was to vote, taking selfies for his timeline. He immediately made a post about cleaning out his friends list the day Trump won. These people are lost.

I would suggest waiting until Trump has been in office for a while. It will take time to adjust the laws and perhaps the constitution. The Republicans now have the majority in Senate and Congress, so they can expand his second term until he dies and then let on of his sons take over. It may be a suprise, but many Dictators were elected perfectly legal and then changed the necessary laws so that what they did was technically no longer against the law.

No, it is not a mandate anymore than it was for Biden. It is just a win. The truth is that right about half the country feels the other way, no matter which party I support. The Moderate Middle needs to talk some sense into the extremists in whichever party they better align with, and America will be better off when they do. I have friends who are so far left they think Bernie Sanders is moderate and some that are so far right they confuse Liberals and Libertarians. They need to be able to talk to each other without hurling insults.

And this election is pretty strong evidence that that's true - Harris was a weak candidate who probably wouldn't have won a primary.

Both Democrats and Republicans are a bit of a grab bag. In Canada and many European countires you have several parties that more closely define the politics of individual voters. After the election there is a lot of negotiation to form a majority goverment. In the US the two major parties which typically dont have a majority on their own have to adjust to try and reach out to the unaffiliated or minor party voters (which make up about 30% of the electorate) before the election in order for them to win.
