Just tried a RNF Retro by Lost! Pretty fun board, not going to lie though, compared to the Seaside by Machado, the paddling on this board is pretty lackluster as it feels a bit "clunky". Once you're up and riding though its a good time! If you're looking for that retro feel this board is it

Would you recommend this board for beginner/intermediate surfers? I’ve been surfing a longboard and mini mal. Looking for my first smaller board. Cheers

Im 6'1" , 200lbs and current using a modern highline 6'8" 54L thing floats lots and is hard to turn. I'm between this RNFR, puddle fish or rusty dwart to help me improve and have fun even when waves get bigger. What would you recommend?
@victormurtaugh93345 жыл бұрын
Lex Mark the most fun would be the rnf retro definitely. The puddle fish is really nice and fun but I feel like it has a more performance vibe. You can never go wrong with a mayhem fish board.

Yeah I think I'm going with a fish style board, now What about between the lost rnf vs the chilli sugar then and that'll be the final decision making
@victormurtaugh93345 жыл бұрын
Lex Mark the sugar is really really easy to catch waves but people say it’s a performance fish. Which in reality it’s not it’s just a really thick fish to have fun. The rnf is more responsive but still has the volume to catch waves and have fun. If you want to hit the lip more go with rnf. If u just want to cruise and have fun go with sugar. And they are both around the same price.

Trip would this ride well as a true twin fin custom configuration?

At 5'9 180lbs, for an intermediate level guy what would be the recommended size/volume for the round nose retro? I grew up riding thrusters but I'm heavier now and I'm just looking to catch more waves, and not work so hard to generate speed. This will be my first experience with a fish. How do they handle in more punchy hollow waves?

I know it's 2 different boards but what is the biggest difference with the Puddle fish? Thanks!
@REALWatersports6 жыл бұрын
The outline, rocker, traditional fish tail, and lack of the channels out the tail are the biggest physical differences. As far as how it surfs, the Retro carries more speed and surfs more like a traditional fish while the Puddle Fish creates more lift, but likes to surf more in the pocket with tighter turns.

Which is the better wave catcher and forgiving on sizing?
@REALWatersports6 жыл бұрын
The Retro is more forgiving and paddles better.

Trip you prefer retro fish vs puddle jumpers?
@REALWatersports5 жыл бұрын
ThePokerSurfer, it really depends on the wave. They can both be extremely fun boards. Really love my retro fish in the Summer here on the Outer Banks. The PJHP gives a little more upper end range, more of a hybrid shortboard.

Absolutely, I recommend a more classic keel style like the Futures Dave Rastovich Futures Keels or FCS II Retro Keels. www.realwatersports.com/collections/twin-fin/products/fcs-ii-retro-keel-pg-twin-fin-set-clear www.realwatersports.com/collections/twin-fin/products/futures-dave-rastovich-keel-twin-fin-set

Not to be a dick but retro fishes are supposed to be ridden smaller in general; it's common knowledge. That board looks way to0 big for you; should be at least 2 to 3 inches smaller than your regular (performance board). Nice review though
