Sorry for so many comments...My son (28) told me the other day " I'm so glad that I grew up on a farm with you Dad, because I learned so many life skills that I use almost everyday". I had him backing wagons/trailers in the back pasture when he was 9 and when he became a long haul trucker 4 yrs ago his instructor had him teach 1/2 the class in backing up...WOW that makes a dad proud !!

Best day of my life on the farm was teaching my son to weld. He learned to do it so well he now refers to my welding as Ray Charles welding. I am a mechanic by trade and when he was three he crawled under the spring horse ( old Snort) with two kitchen knives. I asked him what he was up to and he said I’m fixing this horse. I said to my wife, looks like he will be a mechanic like his dad. Wow was I wrong! After high school he spent seven years in university in Budapest Hungary to become a veterinary doctor! He is now home in Alberta practicing and is in the process of taking over the farm. My daughter always helped on the farm and she was really mechanically inclined and cut and baled hay every summer up until she graduated University as a civil environmental engineer and not is working on saving the world on landfill at a time. Don’t underestimate those kids they are destined to be leaders!

Ahhhh. The smell of fresh cut hay brings me back to when I, too, had a small ranch. There is nothing like it. If I wasn't helping to mow or bale, then I was canning or making bread, or feeding the livestock. I envy you and I wish I was younger than I am now. Hope you got a good crop this year to get you through this upcoming winter, Jax!

My four Boys are contributing members of Society because of the facts that My Wife and I took the time to raise them with our moral values, our work ethic and lead them to be leaders themselves. It is so important today to not only take the time but MAKE the time, suffer a little ourselves so that they will not have to suffer as much and I am so grateful that KZbin contributors as you and your family MAKE the time to pass the awareness on to the world! Thank You and I'll keep watching!

Jaxon, you come from good parents and you are a good parent. Strong morals and values as well as a solid work ethic is learned not a given. What you say is so true. That perhaps is why I so look forward to your next vlog. Watching you balance family, work, your podcast and band play is inspirational. You are blessed with a beautiful family and a full life, but it comes with hard work as well. God bless you and your family. Safe travels driver.

Such a change, Rooster getting stuck because there’s so much hay he can’t see where he’s going. So glad it’s a better year. I grew up haying with my family in Western Mass. Hated it as a kid/teen that I had to spend my summers on a tractor in a hayfield while my friends were off having fun. But as an adult I understand and appreciate the foundation in life my dad was giving us. Love to see your kids out there learning with you, so important for many reasons. Side note, haying in Mass is a different process. Mow, ted, rake, bale, and after it’s cut can’t get rained on. Your hay videos make me miss those days. Looking forward to the next one. And 👏🏻 to Lash!

Being from the era of sickle bar mowers, wheel rakes, and square bales, kickers were a new luxury, we didn’t have yet, loading bales in the field and stacking in the barn, haying was a multi-week marathon. Was a different time… Great to see kids still being given and assuming responsibilities, that ultimately leads to worth while human beings.

I could talk all the crap I want about your “man bun”, but why would I? I don’t even grow hair anymore and I’m only 40. That’s your style and the fact that you don’t care what people think shows how good of a person you are. At least you’ll be able to tie your daughters hair up where I never could and she’d have to go to school with her hair down(still gets brought up every once in a while). Keep rockin it Jax, by the look of Rooster, your hair isn’t gonna thin out anytime soon.

Ah yes, all the smells of my childhood 😊 i wish i was still on a farm, but the road did what it does and called out to me, and as you mentioned, those life skills learned on the farm, like backing a trailer are coming in handy! And yeah mowers always have one grease point you cant get to... 😂 Also, you could tuck your hair up under a hat of some sort, whichever you prefer... now you can't say nobody comes up with any solutions 😂😂

🇺🇲 🙏Amen 🙏 to what you said on child raising and I'll raise you a 'don't forget to praise them when they do good and PATIENCE, LOL. That said it sure is a blessing watching you folks harvest a hay crop not chasing around trying to find a green patch with more than a dozen blades of grass/alfalfa. I can't imagine what it was like on your end but it was agonizing to watch you and your extended family go through it! Farming certainly is a character building enterprise, kinda like if it doesn't kill you it'll make you stronger. Always hated that comment, LOL. 😂

Although I didn’t live in the farm my dad and his brothers still worked the farm so I started driving grain truck at 10. Then we moved to the very edge of the Rockies, right above glacier in Alberta and from 13 on every time I had more than two days off school I would be and my cousins ranch working the fields, calving, fencing and of course riding the fences and delivering salt on horseback. BEST TIMES of my life. Wouldn’t change anything except maybe a tractor with air, or a cab for that matter

Totally agree with stating to teach the kids early. I don't have any kids but I had an older brother and a father who started me early driving bulldozers and tractors. And when I would go on holiday to my uncle. He'd have me "earning my keep " driving for him . He just knew I love driving. I was about 6 or 7 at the time. Two feet on the clutch pedal and my butt just off the seat to press it. Oh please give me back them days. Now because of European laws kids can't work until they are in their late teens. By then they have no interest manual work. All the best 👍 🇮🇪

Hi Jax! Good to see you on the ranch again! I think everyone is so down on “man buns” because that is the hairstyle of choice for antifa and other radical marxists groups. My solution for my very long hair, especially when we were out in the woods cutting firewood, was to wear a durag to contain and protect my hair. Wearing a durag was also the only way I could stand to ride a motorcycle, and do a lot of chores around the ranch. It sure is good to see the ranch looking so beautiful, green, and lush! Is this your first or second cutting? Would be fantastic if you could get at least 3 cuttings in!! Howdy Rooster! Looking good, hope you are feeling well also. ❤️🙏
