In the call center industry, having a good command of the English language is important. English is the main language being used to communicate with the clients and customers.
For non-native speakers, English is also one of the reasons that most applicants consider as a hindrance to enter the call center. There's always that fear that they may not be able to pass because they don't know how to speak in English well or they're scared of speaking the language.
In this video, I talk about my TOP THREE TIPS to help you overcome your fear of speaking the English language.

I realize I am afraid when I feel funny, a stretch in my belly, my muscles getting tense, negative thoughts coming up. I may ask myself how I feel and I get the answer "fear" then. What I do is show empathy to myself, accept the fact that I am afraid, the reason I got afraid and then I talk to myself and tell him I am here to help, come up with a suggestion to solve the issue and imagine how things will be after the issue is resolved.

EFL_The most useful advice that I can apply is to know where my fear comes from and practice consistently, because when I speak I have doubts whether the people who listen to me understand me or not so I will have to practice more and identify what my fears are the most notable that prevent me from speaking English. Also practicing my 'listening' listening to music and 'Speaking' conversing with my friends. Thanks for the tips!

EFL The most useful tip I can apply is: the second one, because I think it is the one I use the most since I want to go to study abroad, and because it is a language that we need to learn to be sociable with people from other places and thus implement a conversation, we need to practice it again and again, since this is our degree of language would improve.

Even americans doesn't know how to speak properly, they have grammar and pronunciation mistakes, one thing i observe with our filipino culture, when someone speak on a non-english environment they would probably react, they laugh and look at you, something you don't like to feel, if you have a set of that environment, it would be splendid if we practice english in daily habit by means of watching tv, reading books and magazines, and listening to english music, you can use an english communication app, or you can join with english communication forums... But i would probably recommend 100% It would be better if we practice english conversation while at home.. I believe our home is the foundation of who we are

EFL_The most useful advice that I can apply is that you understand me, because English has many forms, as well as grammar, but we must be aware that you cannot have a perfect pronunciation, keep in mind that we can continue practicing with pronunciations from informative movies or videos , do not be afraid of being judged by others since even the natives tend to make mistakes. Let's keep learning!

EFL The most useful tip I can apply is PRACTICE CONSISTENTLY. Because the video talks about the fact that it is necessary to avoid , because look up matter how careful 15 minutes 30 minutes, because you might get disappointed that all okay I keep on making mistakes anyway

EFL The most useful type that I can apply is: The first, Because: I have to learn to pronounce English and practice it day by day, speak it without fear of being wrong, and without fear that people will make fun of me. Because in this life no one is perfect and we were all born to learn.

Not a problem! Read loads of books, like English literature, watch English news programs bbc, cnn, etc. and have a dictionary ready by your side for words you've missed. Reading a lot of English content will immensely help in sentence construction. Answer questions aloud and think in English. Expose your senses to the language and I assure you, next time you'll need it, it will be there for you!

un ang lacking saken talaga ..consistency.. kase inconsistent ako madalas lalo na kung wala naman akong kausap na english..kaya nga nakikipagchat me paminsan minsan sa mga foreigner para mapractice kaso nga lang chat only not video. kase more on written talaga ako even in tagalog conversation mas nasasabi ko tru written kesa verbal that's the reason why i have so many dead air ba tawag nga ba dun? hangul na lang kaya ipractice ko..hehe
@ReaNinja
@ReaNinja 6 жыл бұрын
Yun din eh. Kapag di consistent ang practice, it's less effective. But at least you're doing your best to work on what you have kahit written muna. It actually still helps because it registers to the mind better kapag nakasulat sya. 😃

After watching this vid, I asked my sister If she's afraid of speaking english and what made her scared of it. And, definitly, she is. She's afraid to commit mistakes and to be judged. Here in the Philippines, even a single mistake like 'your and you're' will become a big laughing stock. Warfrick - I read this word somewhere and couple of comments were poured kesyo frick daw ung tinype instead of freak. I know that the poor girl was wrong, but condemning her for the mistake she committed, grabe na un. Oa lang amp.

Chao Trenchera Super agree with you on this! That's exactly what I meant in my video esp nga sa atin dito sa Philippines, there are so many grammar nazis. I mean I also try to correct, but only because it's needed, and the purpose should be to help and not to laugh at people for making mistakes. I also think there's always a proper way to provide feedback and not yung napapahiya ang tao. 💗

Are you saying that i should speak English with other people even though my grammar are incorrect? I think it's hard here in the Philippines because people here are so judgemental, some of them are bellow the belt in correcting your grammar even though they are educated people. So disappointed 😭
