Been watching this intently! Please put the flames on like the Wayne’s world pacer! I am building a tj with trailing arms and hopefully airbags inspired by Dave chapelle. Question I have though is with bushings on the trailing arms like you have should the lowers be parallel to the frame rails and upper triangulated or will they work as triangulated uppers and lowers? Good luck on the build, I’m loving it!

Video request...Some day will you make a video showing us the behind the scenes how you track down late model parts for your custom builds. For example, how did you figure out a Chevy Astro gearbox was the right part you needed for Smokeshow? This would be a huge help for any of us that are not walking encyclopedias of old part specs. Thanks and keep up the awesome work.

Former NASCAR super late model crew chief here. WD-40 is a great tire softener and it will not trigger tire softener sniffers. Not sure if that's a thing with off road racing, but it sure is with racecars. We used to hose tires inside and out daily with WD-40 the week before a race. Keeping them in garbage bags doubles the effectiveness.

Make your videos as long and in depth as you feel necessary. Differentials used to be intimidating, but your videos have helped me figure out how to fix my F150 rear diff. I love watching and learning that stuff, I also like to be able to reference back to those kinds of videos. Also you probably know this but vinegar takes the zinc/galvanized coating off of hardware and also seems to remove anodizing or whatever the goldish plating on grade 8 stuff, it does sometimes take some time but I do this every time I need to weld those things. Thanks for the cool videos.

Super awesome videos colt! I personally Like the longer videos. Explaining things in detail and not just boasting thru the fab isn’t the way to do it. Some people want just the information and don’t get taken into the video. Screw that take your time! No reason to shorten things and cut corners and leave any doubt! I like how you explain everything thing in detail it’s the attention to details that sets fabrication apart from just slapping something together! Dude I love the funnel tree! I had to pause and rewind a few times to study it and figure out what was going on there! Great idea! All the left over oil in the funnels just flows down into a jug! If you’re collecting license plates…dude! I have stacks of the things. Mostly all Colorado stuff, bunch of motor cycle plates and weird stuff. Some are mine over the years, and a lot of them are from when I worked At the Chevy dealership in Gunnison! They had boxes and boxes full of of license plates! Stacks and stacks of them! You can have what ever you want if you’re doing a license plate wall. If you’ve ever been to crested butte there’s a famous old house there in town, that’s been covered in license plates for 40-50 yrs. It’s famously known, it’s called the ‘license plate house’ I think it’s now a coffee place in CB. But it’s famously known…and There’s a guy in Gunnison that was doing kinda the same thing on his barn/shop with license plates, road signs and metal signs. I gave him a big stack of road signs and plates one time when he was first getting started. What’s the infatuation with sidekicks? You wanting to build a samurai? I know everyone that’s building a samurai wants the Suzuki sidekick motors, there a little big bigger displacement and fuel injected. And they bolt right in I think? I had a Suzuki sidekick years ago when I was still back in woodland park/ divide I bought off a buddy for $300 lol, it ran and drove and everything, it was only Missing the hard top, and the factory soft top was trashed. I drove it around all summer in woodland/ divide and the springs with no top on the back lol, got stuck in a few hail/ monsoon storms on the west side of the springs waiting out the storm under a bank drive thru covered roof lol. I rigged up a camo harbor freight tarp cover just incase I was out somewhere and couldn’t find cover. It didn’t have carpet and I drilled additional holes in the floor so any water could drain out the back lol. The body wasn’t the greatest, it was straight but it had a little rust in it in the floor from years of sitting with no top on it. But it was a running little mini monster! I sold it to some guy that wanted it for a Samurai swap. The auto trans was staring to slip a little, that was the only downside was it was an auto. Would have been better if it was a manual 5 speed I would have kept it, but having only $300 bucks in it i was set up pretty good to not loose any money. The motor ran great and hardly had any miles on, just over 100k miles on the dash it was solid as the came. There definitely getting harder and harder to find these days. I’d love to have one just to buzz around in again. That thing was a blast. Simple, basic, nothing to complicated or sophisticated, 4wd and light weight and fuel efficient. And easy to mod the heck out of. A solid axle in the front would be so easy. Everyone wants the motors for Sami swap but i think doing a solid axle swap on the sidekick would be the way to go. Suzuki Sami’s are hard to come by these days, in any decent solid condition that isn’t beat to piss and rusted out. I think a jeep front axle would be perfect. Nothing crazy big or hella built, lol the little 1.8l ego motor don’t have that much power. A jeep dana 44 front axle would be over kill id think heh. Maybe even a cj5 front axle, like what a dana 20 or 30? Would be about close to the same width? Do front and rear cj5 or cj7 axles to keep everything paired up and the same. I’ll keep an eye out for ya over here in grand junction! There’s all sorts of hidden gems over here that people don’t want.

My two cents, I love the detailed video but I don’t usually have time to watch a video that longer then 30 minutes. Keep the detail but break it into multiple episodes. Not sure how that works out for you and the infamous algorithm but it fits my viewing preferences. I’m typically only watch the long videos when I’m in my shop working on my own stuff.

Colt- the reason the rake changes the drivability. (Not counting jumps) is because of the change of caster angle. Lifting the rear of a vehicle without properly aligning it will result in a lower caster angle and that squirly drive…
