I'm continuously amazed at what you can do with a sledge hammer and a cheap frame machine. My friend Dennis has a body shop with a Car-o-Liner that is completely computer controlled that probably cost $100,000 dollars along with state of the art temperature controlled baking spray booths. His setup is very similar to the shop that Kandyman is currently working at if you watch his videos. That you can do quality work with zero equipment I find remarkable. How do you like the plastic 3M spray gun? Damn thing is amazing isn't it.
@LakesideAutobody Жыл бұрын
I rally like the 3M gun. Sprays just fine and the ease of cleaning is a game changer for sure. I really appreciate you always checking in my friend - love your comments and suggestions. I started out in a body shop using the portable Kansas Jack (Power Post), pull pots in the floor, etc. - then a Chief EZ liner. I thought I would be really limited buying the L Dozer type but it's been pretty good. Thanks again SATAMAN - have a good weekend 👍😊✌

Definitely great work! Always have a lot of respect for people who save these vehicles. Love watching your videos, you are one of my favour body repair Channels :D I’ve literally just watched one of your fiber glass rust repair videos and considering doing the same with my transit, cleaned up the wheel arch, a pin hole turns out to be a thumb size hole, was wondering how much do you reckon a fibre glass type repair will last as opposed to cutting out the rust and weld in a new plate? Thanks and really appreciate your expertise and content
@LakesideAutobody Жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking them out Tony. I have found that if you make sure the panel can drain and can dry out inside the patch will last for years. If you can hit the back side with undercoating - even better. This works great for every type of repair to prevent future rust too - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bonEi3WvbKx2baM 👍

@LakesideAutobody Жыл бұрын
It depends on what the factory did. Some OEM hoods, inner door panels, trunks have just base coat (sort of flat look). Some shoot some clear over the top or maybe even use a single stage (shiny). If it was shiny throw some clear on it - if not leave it base coat :)

If you are looking for rust repair sheet metal - Alro Steel carries 20 gauge (.035") CR sheet A1008 - that's good for welding, forming body panels, etc. You can also use 22 gauge (.030")

I have 2 questions realistically how long should a rear quarter panel replace job take? And also is it common to have a quarter panel window break because of tension when removing the quarter panel?
@LakesideAutobody7 ай бұрын
The window should really never break when removing and replacing a quarter. Sometimes you take the glass out too if needed. We always had glass guys come in for that. A quarter panel should take no longer than 4-5 hours for the body man to do his part. Then there will be paint and prep time which could be even more time than that. Basically though the whole job can be done in a couple of days very easily if you are working 8-10 hour days :)
@lilfendiiofficialpage7 ай бұрын
@@LakesideAutobody that’s exactly what I thought but the guys over at Hamden auto body have had the car since the 2nd of may tired telling me the window breaks a lot of the time and that a quarter panel job takes way longer then 2 weeks I told them stop smoking crack on the job lol I told them I was going to do the job myself but the insurance only gave me a check for $2000 there’s no way so I took it to get done right they laughed at me when I said I was going to do it myself I said if you think it’s so hard maybe your in the wrong job field
